So, I haven't been reviewing lately, bad me. I any case I tried this restaurant a few weeks ago, and it is now one of my favorites. Well, for the things that I have tried. Have you ever had a day that you wanted a certain "type" of food? Not necessarily the cuisine, but how it is cooked. I have been a fan of "hole in-the-wall" restaurants for the longest. I know when I lived in Seattle, we decided to go to Portland and when we got there there was a pizza place we wanted to try. I guarantee that the restaurant was o bigger than that of a kitchen and dinning room. They had 1-2 tables, ad that was all; the place was jammed pack! When it was time to leave, the people had to go back outdoors, to let us come out. It was the epitome of "hole-in-the-wall." When we got to the hotel, that food was sooo good!!! #foodie That being said, that is why I love trying these type of restaurants....scary looking, but the food is wonderful! In this case, IDK what Luigis Pizza looks like. I know that I have ordered from the more than once. I have NOT had a problem with the food per-se, I just haven't tried much from the menu. I I am still dealing with my silly body being hungry, but doesn't want the food I put it in it, Stoopid. So, I was looking for a hole-in-the-wall food, and found it here. I ordered one of the everyday specials; they were (2) slices of pizza, w/ a canned drink for $6 and the angel hair pasta with bolognese, in addition I ordered a couple of meatballs with a small upcharge, garlic knots, and cheesy bread. A lot of bread I know, but I was being fat!!! I found that the sides cost more than the food, in some cases, otherwise it was budget friendly. When I got the food, it was piping hot. The slices were "ginormous," and when fresh they were good. However if you have to heat them up, due to the thin-ness of the dough...it kills it almost immediately. No matter if you put a damp paper towel in it and heat it up for under 25 sec it's over. I learned the hard way. Outside of that the pasta was SOOOO good. However, they gave so much, that it literally took me having it for lunch and dinner for 2 days and then I had to toss it. They did what I asked thought. I wanted extra meat in the bolognese, they did it...I got baked cheese,too; so it was kinda liked baked spaghetti (it's like lasagna, but w/o ricotta). You can add a bunch of toppings, I only did a few...but I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Well, the pizza slice was a lil wonky but other than that. I will be going back. Lastly, I hate to interject...I have been finding that the more "hole-in-the-wall." Restaurants that I have found, if the food is left out, or put in the fridge, they do NOT taste the same after. I guess depending on how far away from the restaurant you are, with delivery my food always is piping hot. So, once it arrives, sit down and eat! read more

3.5 stars, rounded up to 4. Scrapple* pizza. It makes sense, especially in southern Delaware. In fact, I'm amazed that this is the only pizza place around that has scrapple as an option. The best thing is that scrapple turns out to be a solid choice as a pizza topping! We ordered three large (16 inch) pizzas for pickup. One white, one works, and one Delaware. We added a salad, some garlic knots, and some zeppoli to the order which brought us to $60 and enough food for two meals. The pizzas were a nice thin crust with not quite enough bubbles for me, but sturdy enough to hold up to the overflowing works toppings. There was a generous amount of cheese on all three pizzas, and the scrapple and bacon on the Delaware pizza was evenly spread. Other reviews mention the garlic knots. They weren't bad, but I won't order them again. A dusting of cheese and a toss in butter with garlic powder does not make an excellent garlic knot. Zeppoli was fun, but was truly just bits of dough tossed in powdered sugar. I know that they occasionally have other desserts , so I'll keep my fingers crossed for the next order. Luigis has a steady stream of customers for good reason. They have good prices and a wide choice of topping options, plus a full menu of pastas and cheesesteaks. (One cheesesteak also includes scrapple!) They also have a social media presence and are the only pizza place within a mile or so, which helps in an area saturated with takeout options. *Scrapple is a pork product similar to sausage. It is meat ground with cornmeal and spices and formed into loaves. It is most often served as a breakfast meat, sliced and pan fried. It makes an excellent pizza topping. read more

During this time of uncertainty, there is nothing like comfort food. Luigi's Pizza cooks up what you need to get through your day. Right off Route 13, you will find Luigi's at the end of a typical shopping strip, dug store at one end and Luigi's anchoring the other. There isn't a huge amount of space inside for customers, and that's okay. Their ovens are hot and constantly going. Coming through the door you are quickly met with a pleasant attitude, your called in order brought to the counter, payment received, and you are out the door taking your goodness home. As a special treat, try their Delaware pizza. Scrapple as a pizza topping is not something I would have thought of, but it works. It is not as greasy as pepperoni, provides a slight texture crunch that sausage is missing, and all the flavor a meat lover wants on a pizza. Enjoy! read more

The owners got in some trouble a while back for racist remarks, refusing to wear masks (per state COVID-19 guidelines) and mocking those who do wear masks. I thought they learned their lesson, but now they're back at it with rape jokes and homophobic rhetoric. They're rude to customers and will yell/swear on the phone in front of the whole restaurant. Plus their pizza is over salted trash. Don't give these guys your business. There are at least a dozen better pizza places in the area, and you won't have to worry about having your food coughed on. read more

I decided to find a new pizza place while Im in town because Frederica Pizza House kept serving me old, cold or stale pizza and the fries were gross. My rating of Luigi Pizza would be very high because I do like their food. My lower rating has nothing to do with their food or service (they were extremely friendly). I lowered my rating because the staff was making derogoratory comments about gay people the first time I visited. Plus, there is far right political propganda displayed. Parents ordered from here a few weeks ago and the food wasn't horrible, although I personally like food with more seasonings versus what I had. We had the lasagna special and there was way too much cheese and it lacked seasonings and flavor. I would much rather support a small business versus somewhere like Olive Garden or any big chain, but after what I had i would try somewhere else before going here. We love a "garbage" pizza, one with EVERYTHING, usually there is so much stuff on it that the crust is soggy. NOT here, baby, the balance of toppings is PERFECT. STRIKE 1-Hubby called to place an order for delivery and whomever answered the phone was rude and had NO room for patience. Seems that if you are a new restaurant you would try to be a little bit nicer to your patrons instead of speaking to them like you work at the DMV. Just sayin.. STRIKE 2-We live less than 10 min away and that's being generous(it's actually 7 min going the speed limit) and we received our food 1 hour and 15 min later. I even timed it and actually from the time we placed the order, to the time they started knocking on our front door, it was 1 hour and 18 min exactly. What kind of delivery service is that?!? I google mapped it and I could've walked faster than the time they got here! Wth?!? STRIKE 3-We ordered Nachos w/cheese(no beef) & Alfredo(comes with the garlic knots), broccoli bites and cheese steak. Of course it was all soggy and cold. The nachos were so soggy that the cheese was harder than the nachos because it was so cold that the cheese solidified on top of the nachos and made the nachos all gooey and mushy! The Alfredo was tasteless and soggy, no flavor at all. My hubby's cheese steak was so soggy that the bun was mush! The meat was over cooked, broccoli bites were cold and hard, do I need to keep going with the obvious?!? I was willing to forget strikes 1 & 2 if our food was good because honestly folks.. we were starving!!!!
