Disappointing Upside-Down Pizza I ordered a plain upside-down pizza last night, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. I was expecting an upside-down pizza with a generous layer of tomato sauce that would add moisture and flavor to each slice. Instead, the sauce was extremely thin and appeared to have been spread over the cheese in little more than a dried-out smear. There simply wasn't enough sauce to provide the flavor or moisture I was expecting. The crust was another major issue. It was hard and dry throughout, and when I bit into it, it literally crumbled into pieces. The combination of the dry crust and lack of sauce made the entire pizza feel unusually dry. Based solely on the pizza I received, I would have to rate it as one of the worst pizzas I've had in quite some time. That said, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. It may have been a one-time occurrence or simply an off night in the kitchen. However, if this is representative of their typical upside-down pizza, I would strongly recommend taking another look at the recipe and preparation. I certainly hope this was an exception, because when done properly, an upside-down pizza can be excellent. read more

This is my go to place for pizza in Hockessin. Great pies and bolis. My kids love the pasta dishes- the meatballs are yummy. It's BYOB if you're dining in which is also cool. The only trouble is trying to get out of the parking lot at dinner time. Still worth it. read more

Just great Italian food. Period. Service is always good - friendly and efficient. The vibe inside is casual local pizza shop. They have a TON of takeout orders flying out the door. But on the sleeper side - shhh - they have three booths and a few tables, and it's a BYOB. We took a great red wine, and the entrees were delicious. Our favorites so far are the penne alla vodka with prosciutto, the Arribbiata, and the Kennett. Can't forget the long hots! Entrees are served with bread and salad. Oh, and did I mention there's a liquor store next store if you'd liked to take advantage of the BYOB status? The service here was the worst I've ever had. We had delivery order for 5pm. Never showed up. After calling and confirming the pizza was ready we just went to pick it up ourselves by 6pm after it was an hour late. When we got to the store the workers were extremely rude telling us the pizza was not made yet and we would have to wait. After another 45 mins waiting it still was not ready. We left and never got our large order for a party we were having. It was supposed to be delivered at 5pm and by 7:30 I got a message from the store saying they were unable to make our order. We were relying on that food for the party hence why we ordered it in advance to be delivered at 5 PM there was no food and the manager at Luigi didn't seem to care or have any remorse about it. Food was absolutely horrendous. the sicilian was soggy... the crust was completely burnt and tasted stale somehow the chicken parm pizza just had an off taste ... can't really describe just tasted odd. i won't say much about it because it could be a matter of personal preference when i thought the meal couldn't get worse i ordered a cannoli and a tiramisu. that's where i messed up really bad the cannoli tasted stale and like old fryer oil and the filling was bland the tiramisu... was frozen. completely frozen . i haven't had a meal this bad in years. i never leave reviews even if i wasn't a fan but this stuck with me. genuinely disappointed, how can a restaurant say they use fresh ingredients and classic techniques when they serve frozen desserts. and clearly canned pizza sauce. wouldn't be surprised if they ordered their dough. Tried this place for lunch and ordered the Amalfi with Fettuccine. It came out steaming hot and loaded with mushrooms. So so good. Also came with a side salad and cute little rolls. OMG! This little restaurant did not disappoint-I ordered the gnocchi, which were tender and pillowy, just like my mother used to make them. I can't get over this place! It's five stars on food and service every time! We tried a secret off menu item (saw a table next to us order it) grandmom's specialty pizza and it was amazing. A blush sauce, crispy thin crust with the perfect amount of texture and softness, and mozzarella slices. My new favorite! It was a quiet Sunday afternoon. I saw on their menu in specialty sandwich section they had a Porchetta Italiano; roast pork, broccoli rabe, roasted peppers and provolone. I asked if I could get a porchetta Italiano but as a Cheesesteak. Without hesitation they said 'Yes.' They also charge me an extra $1.25 and didn't give me french fries that come with the Porchetta Italiano. Good quality and very tasty cheesesteak. I will change my review to hit or miss. If depends if the owner is working. They recently changed the pricing which is fine, but while they are open until 10pm, don't bother calling after 9pm. They either don't want to be bothered or are cleaning up and sometimes don't even answer the phone. If the owner is there you get decent food but if the kids are working they give you some attitude, cold shoulder, and can't wait to leave. Young people need to learn respect for the people who pay them. read more

New chef? Have always had consistently very good food. We order here a lot, and well, last night was very disappointing. The veal Spezzato was not good. Very little meat, heavy, thick tomato sauce loaded with undercooked onions and served on a mix of rotini and ziti. Who does that? We felt like we were eating someone's left overs. The pizza crust was very good but very slim on the toppings and again with the partially cooked onions.
