    Vegetarian combo

Grateful for my Ethiopian cab driver yesterday who gave me the lowdown on Denver's East African community and recommended this place. It's a small operation that probably seats 30 people, but they were pretty busy the whole time with a crowd that was at least 80% Ethiopian (always a good sign). The vegetarian combo was a joy and I got the firfir as a side too. It's a vegan dream for sure and teff flour, which is used for injera, is suitable for folks with IBS and easily-upset stomachs. I recommend plenty of water for newbies to this cuisine though Ethiopian coffee is a work of art.

The food here was delicious. They offer lots of options for meat eaters and vegetarians. They were very helpful in helping us decide what to order. You do have to be patient when waiting for food. I can imagine most items are made to order. The inside is simple and clean. Great place to try if you haven't!

I have always heard great things about Lucy's so I came to check it out and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is small & quiet, but well kept and clean. The one thing that really made it stand out to me, over my usual Ethiopian restaurant I go to, was the excellent service and the speed of food coming out. Our food came out in less than 30 mins-- which for an Ethiopian restaurant that is incredible--and the taste wasn't sacrificed at all. Everything was delicious and well prepared. Although its a little bit of a drive from me, I will certainly be returning to this gem of a restaurant.

Lucy really blew me away!! It was the best Ethiopian I've had in denver so far. We had the veggie sampler and the misto (a green and a red lamb.) We devoured everything and I truly could not pick a favorite! The staff was friendly as well. I'll be back for sure.

Why didn't someone tell me I should try Ethiopian food before. I've been on this earth for 29 years and this is my first time eating this cuisine. For real this is a must try. The veggie combo will not disappoint. Like other reviews have stated you should be prepared to wait about 20-30 minutes for your food to be served. Also the helpings are large. May need a friend if you want to join the clean plate club.

Absolutely delicious. The injera is so nice and sour. The veggie combo was fantastic. Chef's kiss.

The Doro Tibs and the sobusas are my go to. This is a quaint little place. I just wish they also made a fresh tomatom fit fit.

This used to be our favorite Ethiopian spot until our most recent take out experience…read more We called to order two vegetarian combos at 5:30 and were told told to come in pick up at 5:45. When we get there at 5:45, we notice that the food is packed up in a medium (9"x13") sized aluminum pan with lid. In the past we'd gotten our meals in two styrofoam take out boxes with plenty of food so I was initially excited to see the new packaging because I believed the quantity would be the same or more. We get home 5 mins later and were sorely disappointed by our order. There were plenty of lentils but the orange ones were undercooked and lacked flavor. There were only about two bites of the collard greens/Gomen wat. And usually Mama África supplies more potatoes spears with their carrot and cabbage side, this time, we also only got two bites of the cabbage, no potatoes. Not to mention, the green beans were definitely canned and had no additional flavor to them. We asked for a side of chickpea soup/shiro wat and were disappointed to find that it too lacked flavor and was mostly oil. The worst part in addition to all the above was that the food was cold and the injera tasted stale and lacked its usual sourness. To add insult to injury, the meal was nearly 70 dollars in total for something that barely fed one person. This was the first time I ever wanted to ask for a refund for our food because we barely received one portion of the veggie combo, not the two we paid for. I hate to leave a one star review for a small business but the quality and quantity of food went down drastically.
