During the consultation, I clearly asked for very minimal, natural-looking highlights and specifically said I wanted to avoid excessive blonde because I had spent a long time growing out previously damaged hair. I explained that keeping my hair healthy was a priority. The final result was the opposite of what I requested. My hair ended up orange and red in areas, with multiple uneven tones and very brassy sections. The owner of the salon even assisted in styling my hair at the end of the appointment, which makes it even more surprising that I was allowed to leave with my hair looking the way it did. I contacted the salon owner afterward and sent photos showing what I had asked for compared to the result. Instead of offering to correct the service, I was told the toner must have washed out (I had not washed my hair yet) and that I would need to pay for additional toner to fix the color.

Matthew himself gets 5/5, I highly recommend him for color! My first visit with Matthew I did a cut and color consultation. My hair had extremely grown out highlights that I wanted covered up to match the darkness of my natural hair. Plus, I wanted to get a panel of vivid color put in. My hair is naturally a very dark brown, bordering on black. I would have understood if getting it light enough to do a vivid color in one session would have been difficult, but Matthew managed to get my hair incredibly light! Not to mention, on my first visit I came in with barely any direction for him. I told him I wanted vivid color on this panel but I gave him creative freedom to just do something "cool." It was a lot of trust to give for my first time getting color from him but I'm so glad I did! I left with this hot pink, purple, and blue Lisa Frank/Rainbow Road DREAM (see photos). The quality of the color is incredibly and it took forever to fade. Since then, I've switched to a one-color vivid purple that I love! It barely fades at all between visits. The salon as a whole is great so far. The interior design is attractive and welcoming. During the height of the pandemic they had the proper precautions in place including masking, sanitizing, and temperature checks. At all of my visits so far I have found the salon clean and pleasant. I book all my appointments online, which I love. I personally hate having to book over the phone, so I can't write much about booking via phone call. I did notice that there is not really a receptionist up front, but that's not a big deal to me as Matthew has always been prompt at meeting me up front when I come in. The other stylists at the salon seem friendly and talented as well. Whenever I'm there the others are always kind and I see them doing great on other girls' hair as well. I like this new location better than the last one because of the parking and we no longer have to park in the sketchy alley :D
