The other stylists say hi as they walk by as do the owners. Obviously the warm, friendly vibe starts top down and it makes such a difference. All the salon and spa services you could want are available at Hush. The salon is spacious with a modern open industrial feel, and spotless. Is it weird to compliment the restrooms? Well, I need to do that too. Plenty of parking is available so even when Hush is super busy, I can find a space. There are multitudes of products for sale, including Color Wow, which I am passionate about. The most important characteristic of a great salon is how the client's hair looks, and I could not be more pleased. Charley is my stylist and I'm crazy about her as a person as well as her talents. We have lovely conversations about kids, restaurants, and cooking, so my appointment is also a social affair. I often bring photos of hairstyles and Charley can duplicate them. She shares tips for styling and I am confident I can do it when I leave the salon. I must mention the fantastic head and neck massages during shampooing; I feel so pampered. During the consultation, I clearly asked for very minimal, natural-looking highlights and specifically said I wanted to avoid excessive blonde because I had spent a long time growing out previously damaged hair. I explained that keeping my hair healthy was a priority. The final result was the opposite of what I requested. My hair ended up orange and red in areas, with multiple uneven tones and very brassy sections. The owner of the salon even assisted in styling my hair at the end of the appointment, which makes it even more surprising that I was allowed to leave with my hair looking the way it did. I contacted the salon owner afterward and sent photos showing what I had asked for compared to the result. Instead of offering to correct the service, I was told the toner must have washed out (I had not washed my hair yet) and that I would need to pay for additional toner to fix the color.

Instead of creating a welcoming environment, it often feels negative and uncomfortable. It's also disheartening to see so many longtime stylists leave. As a customer, that says a lot about the work environment. What I found especially unprofessional was hearing previous stylists being spoken about negatively. Regardless of what happened behind the scenes, publicly criticizing former employees or discussing their financial situations is inappropriate and reflects poorly on the business. Clients shouldn't be put in the middle of workplace drama. I genuinely hoped this salon would continue to thrive because it once had talented stylists.
