The server was very attentive and came back multiple times to check on us and refill our water. As for the the food - the pizza was delicious and the crust was fluffy on the inside and has a crisp on the outside. The edges were nicely cooked with the carmilized cheese. The cheese topping still has some nice pull. The cheese curds were hot and fresh. The pickles were crispy and seasoned just right as were the french fries. The fries had a light breading on it. The classic MIchelob is absent. I had ham and bean soup, cheeseburger and fries. The soup is homemade and just what I wanted. Burgers are all smash-style; cooked to order and still juicy. To me, the fries are the hit; hand-cut fresh potatoes fried to order and great! Saturday afternoon was a little spotty but they got the job done. Dagwood's is a classic college dive bar with good food cooked behind the bar for all customers to see.

We walked in and were greeted with a long communal table all set up with a tablecloth - they do a Thanksgiving potluck each year and there were a ton of people there already. We luckily got a booth with some good views of the few TVs they have and the crowd was friendly and all decked out in Lions gear. The bartender was super friendly and let us know that the food would be ready in about an hour. It's free to eat as much as you want, and they had TONS of food, including at least 3 turkeys, lots of sides, desserts, and it looked like they were setting up for a mac and cheese competition. I kept saying how nice it was to have this spot for the community and it really felt very welcoming. I love the ornate bar, with the stained glass and big wooden griffins (we think they're griffins anyway). It's such a cool place and if I lived nearby I think I'd want to be a regular here.
