Arts has definitely stepped up its game since the last time I was there a decade or so ago. It's open set up inside with much more lighting and a sports sort of theme with tvs here and there for viewing. We came in to try the pizza. Had the arts classic style. It's super heavy on cheese and dough, and not much sauce. Cheese was tasty, but just not my jam for pizza overall. Way too much for me. I wouldn't come back for it. Also had the smoked wings and those were awesome. Good smoke and a crispy fry. For our visit it was super cold inside. Some in my party had to keep the coats on. Also while we were there for lunch a waitress was hammering on some chairs which was super loud. And a worker was drilling in to concrete in the entry way. Went here to take my little sister out for her 21st birthday! FOOD 5/5 My sister and I pretty much got the same exact meal: Sex on the beach drink, spicy mozzarella sticks, and the brisket & potato wrap. EVERYTHING WAS GOOD. I mean, you really can't go wrong with cheese sticks but these had a little *razzle dazzle* because of the jalapeno flavor + spice added in. The drinks were big and strong. I love everything brisket and you can tell that they weren't messing around with how they cooked it because it was so tender and the fact that it also had fries inside, I literally tried to stuff myself to eat it because I didn't want it to end. The next time I visit, I will have to try their pizza, I heard great things. AREA/ATMOSPHERE 5/5 It was a very unassuming area, very spacious parking lot and it was a cool low-key spot where you could catch the game, drink beer and hang out with a few friends. The seating wasn't very big so I wouldn't try to bring a huge crowd. CUSTOMER SERVICE 5/5 Food came out so fast! My friend and I sat on the patio and enjoyed the warm weather. We chose the spicy mozzarella sticks (which are jalapeño crusted) and WOW were they the best mozzarella sticks I've ever had--the cheese was melted just right to allow for the perfect cheese pull! Seriously the worst lighting out of any bar/restaurant in Lansing. When you walk in it feels like you're at the dentist about to get a root canal. The walls are painted the worst shade of gray/green that you can imagine. Other than the horrible ambiance this place is decent. They have many meat and vegan options so whatever kind of food you like, they'll probably have it. I've only been here three times but it's always packed and can be difficult to find parking. I really like Art's. Most places with a huge menu are mediocre at best. Art's consistently does better than expected and executes most food really well. The arepas are a fun addition to a standard bar menu, and they offer full menu- breakfast included- all day. They have really good burgers and the breakfast potatoes are amazing. I do have to warn you regarding the pizza, though. There is SO. MUCH. CHEESE. So much. Unless you really love cheese, it will be too much. I like cheese, and I couldn't eat the pizza. The service is always friendly and they do great takeout. Even if it's busy, you'll be in and out in a timely fashion. I ordered the Conquistador Burrito and my significant other ordered a Veggie Fiesta Omelette with actual chicken instead of the vegan patty. I like spicy things and thought my burrito was good, especially with the added salsa and sour cream. My significant other liked his omelette as well. We both liked the seasoned hash brown that came with our meals and thought for the price, the portions were good. I preferred the previous incarnation of Art's which had more character, but I'll confine my review to how things are now: They kept a LOT of the things that made the old Art's good: the beer in goblets, for example. the Pizza style. They also seemed to add more modern takes on the pizza toppingwise. There are many clever combinations on there that are seem a little weird but are actually really tasty. The dry rub wings are really good too. The bartenders seem to vary a bit in terms of friendliness (people can also have a bad day, whatever) but the overall vibe among customers sitting at the bar is almost always very friendly and welcoming. read more

I came to town from upstate New York to spend the day with my best friend. He has raved about Art's pizza to me for years. As, we New Yorkers do love our pizza. We each ordered a two topping large pizza. We were told it would take 20 minutes. About 45 minutes later, our waiter came to tell us that they messed up on our toppings and had to make us new pizzas and it would only be a couple more minutes. Well, another half hour passed and no visits or updates from our server and no pizzas. Also, I had watched at least 6 pizzas going out the door as take outs. So, I walked up to our waiter and informed him that we were leaving to get our pizzas elsewhere. His reply was "okay". Not impressed with the service of this establishment. No offer of an appetizer or the mis-made pizzas as gratis to tie us over until our pies were ready either. We were totally ignored. It's not like the old arts pub by any means, but it's still a great place to grab a beer and watch the game. Their craft beer list is nice and changes a lot with local and national breweries featured. If you're not into that they have miller and bud on draft, best enjoyed in a 32oz schooper which are fun goblet like drinking apparatuses. The food is really great, they open at 7 and serve breakfast all day which is a nice change from the typical bar fare. I really enjoy their hashes and pitas on the breakfast menu. For dinner their wings are delicious and smoked right out back, I've also tried the burgers and thought they were delicious. Some people love the pizza here, but for me there is far too much cheese, different strokes for different folks i guess. Surprisingly, Arts has a ton of options for vegetarian and vegan eaters which is a nice option for Lansing which is severely lacking. I have been to Art's a dozen times and have given them so many chances. The service is often very slow and the food underwhelming. This last visit might have been the nail in the coffin. Me and a friend got the same breakfast pizza, mine with vegan cheese, and we could barely eat it. Very bland and, didn't know this was possible, but it had WAY too much cheese. Having lived in Lansing my whole life, I'm shocked that I only recently tried this restaurant. The pizza is heavenly, truly. I think it has officially surpassed Deluca's as my favorite pizza in town. Nice place, totally revamped building. If you are a sports but, this place could be for you, many large screen TV's, full bar, draft beers, and an easy to read menu, short and sweet, great options. Great, good bad and ugly... Noise level was terrible but if you research and notice the trend it seems all places are trending that way for various reasons. Music being played was fine for all just loud and acoustics were bad. Service. 2-4 stars depending. 1:40 for 6 people to sit down, est, one drink and leave is ridiculous. Something happenened and the food took forever but it arrived hot. Billing was just as long and the cr card processing went down. To their ceedit the waitress was awesome and manager came over to speak to us. They were great, just some logistical things that were pretty bad. Again, service and attitudes were awesome. All 6 of us agreed that as bad and slow as those were they had to ne some sort of anomoly and it won't prevent us from going back. Food. 5 stars. The reason we went. All six had different food. Three pizzas and four other meals (yes I know that is seven.) All seven ordered meals were loved and shared. Mushrooms were left off a burger on one meal but th as tnis a simple fix and the staff of course was great about it. Little things like that don't bother me in the least. Stuff happens. Overall the excessive noise really takes away from enjoying your experience more and the long waits on both ends were bad but I think not normal. Clean bathrooms, polite help, amazing food. Worth going again for sure. Especially for the pizza! read more
