First time to a Lucky Wishbone. I love fried chicken, but unfortunately not much to love about the chicken here. Not awful, but might be the blandest fried chicken I have ever tried. Practically no flavor at all. Ditto for the fries. Toast with garlic butter they add is the most flavorful part of the meal. So, be prepared to add some salt or dip in some kind of condiment (ketchup? none in sight, nor offered, hot sauce?). The skin was crispy but likewise had almost no flavor. When I am in Tucson, Lucky Wishbone is my go to spot for chicken fingers (with toast, fries, and cocktail sauce). They have always been consistent in flavor and never disappointing. Their fried chicken is so good. Light crispy breading and moist chicken. How do they do it? I love their chicken. Their chicken fingers (tenders) are as good as Raising Canes. They certainly give you plenty of fries with the dinners. The coleslaw is good. So glad they have several locations around Tucson. We recently moved to the east side and discovered this one. You can't go wrong with Lucky Wishbone chicken. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. But I really want to mention how much they obviously care about the health of their employees and staff. Please bring back the thin crispy fries. You finally went from thin fries that were always soggy by the time you got home and I live 1.1 miles from your Harrison location. And one day I was so surprised when I got home and the thin fries were still crispy and very good! They were almost a battered fry and all my family were amazed how good they were. I've always since childhood loved Lucky Wishbone. It was a special treat when my parents brought it home for dinner. I understand that hard times call for hard measures, like cutting back on the pop meals, but dropping the quantity from 10 items to 8 was disappointing while raising the prices. But going to fat crinkle fries, after coming from the best fries you've ever had. This change in fries have all my friends and family rethinking where they dine. I just thought you should know what the shuttle on the street. We understand that prices go up But quality and quantity should never go down. I hope you never close. First time trying this well known place and would say I would go again. I would say as delicious as the steak fingers were I wish they had more of a robust flavor and not just fried steak. Was hoping for more of a succulent, salty, finger licking taste for sure. The friend chicken was pretty good and was as tasty as it could be although someone from my home town MIGHT make it with more flavor lol. I no longer live in Tucson but when I return I typically make time to grab some Lucky Wishbone. I'd not been to this location before but I was happy to realize that the experience is consistent and the food was just as good as I've come to expect from my 'normal' location. We arrived at a time where they were pretty busy. From the looks of it, they get a lot of call-in orders. Grew up in Tucson but haven't been here in 25 years. A family friend (maybe not as much as I thought) reminded me of this place. Maybe I had forgotten about it for a reason. Decided to pop in and try it at her urging that the steak fries were amazing. Got the sampler. Chicken fries. Steak fries and shrimp. Fries and garlic bread. The box came with the Lucky Wishbone sauce which I discovered was just cocktail sauce. Insert personal preference that I love cocktail but it doesn't go with everything you eat. Breading was plain and flavorless. Chicken was likely processed based on the shape/texture. Shrimp was ok but overly greasy. My wife who loves steak ate her meal silently. No one in our group was amazed. We were mostly highly confused. After leaving, I actually had to ask my wife if her steak fingers tasted like farts, which was the scent and flavor I got when I bit into mine. We all had leftovers, decided we didn't even want to take them home to our dog. Yuck. Confusion. I don't get it. read more

It wasn't bad, but nor did it have a flavor that said, "no matter the cost, no matter how difficult, I must have more!". I found the flavor to be clean and fresh and unremarkable. On the plus side, it did not seem very salty, which is common in fried foods in America. Note as well: chicken breasts incorporate the back. The American obsession with white meat means that most chicken places serve whole chicken breasts -- a large serving of protein, and usually sold at a premium price. Every time I go, the service and food are great. Today, I got exceptional service from Christina. I'm a Type I diabetic and immunocompromised, so I needed a restaurant that offers curbside pickup and requires employees to wear masks. When I called, Christina was incredibly friendly and accommodating. When I got there, she remembered who I was and was super friendly! Chicken, steak fingers, shrimp...french fries...even their garlic bread is reportedly stuck in the pan for a minute or two. Sure, it's not healthy, but sometimes we all eat or do or act unhealthily, right? Might as well make it worth the while by choosing the Wishbone and getting greasy with a takeout meal. I've been going to the Bone for nearly 30 years. This is definitely another Tucson tradition. Yes, almost everything you get at Luck Wishbone is fried. It is not a place you go to everyday. With that said, I have always been a steak finger guy. The steak is cut like a big french fry, breaded, and fried. I also love to get a couple of chicken fingers. Yummy. Oh, and if you get a meal, the garlic bread is always good. The best part is everything comes with the Lucky Wishbone sauce (tastes like good cocktail sauce) for dipping. Here is the most important part - eat it there or in your car. If you wait to get home your fries will be soggy because everything is hot and creates steam which equals soggy fries. The Bone @ Harrison is a lot like the others, very lean, very basic. They had a couple of table to eat at inside but many tables in the shade just outside the door (like several other LWs). Try it and see if you like it. Those who like to bash the Bone just don't get it. Remember this place has been around since 1953 and has six locations - making it one of Tucson's most successful restaurants. Although the fries, and coleslaw were great the steak fingers were unimpressive and the special sauce was nothing more than ketchup and cocktail sauce.
