Despite the reviews I gave this place a shot- in dire need of a vegetarian protein source in this food desert! I ordered the general tso's tofu with white rice and the plain lo mein online and picked up to go. The lo mein looked like it would be flavorful but unfortunately it really lacked everything, including even soy sauce. It had burnt minced garlic but that was about it! 0/10 on this dish and unfortunately I had to toss it. The tofu texture was alright/ leaning a little cheesy and stale.. But the sauce was also flavorless and generally not very appealing. The rice was also cheap minute rice and didn't go very well with the dish or soak up any sauce. I ended up trying to drown the dish with their cheap soy packets- which did not do much to help. 3/10 here I hate to leave reviews like this but honestly lucky house needs to work on sourcing better ingredients and reformulating some recipes- even if it requires raising prices I promise people who notice the difference! read more

First and last visit tonight. Where to start! I used the drive-thru to order. There is no visible sign telling you to order at the window, not at the sign. I ordered a large orange chicken and steamed rice. I believe I was up sold white chicken meat. I've never been asked what cut of chicken I wanted. I think it cost me $2 extra. The order was handed to me in a paper bag. Got home-the portion was generous but the food is flavorless. The rice tasted like Uncle Ben's. The orange chicken was smothered in goop. I was glad for the rice because my dog was sick today and used a portion of it for his dinner. All that goop leaked out of the container and all over the paper bag. Thanks for the mess to clean up! Well after reading other reviews I was a bit hesitant to order. However it was close to my hotel so I gave it a shot. I ordered combination lo mien and combination fried rice. I've been ordering from this place for years, and not once has my order ever been wrong or anything short of delicious. I've ordered delivery, from the drive-thru, and sat for a dine-in experience. Each time the staff has been polite and fast, and if I went to eat dine-in more often I'm sure they'd recognize me and strike up conversation as a regular as I've seen them do with others (but I just don't like to leave my house that much). stopped here on a road trip. we made a pit stop on kingshighway to get some gas and stretch. we were also looking for something to eat, and yelp pointed us to lucky house restaurant. which worked out perfectly, since i was craving some rice. it's been 4 days since i last had it. lol! anyways, this place is more like 2.5/5 stars. the only saving grace is the crab rangoons... and that barely saved this place. if you pull out the dictionary and looked up hole in the wall, this place would best describe it. lol. the interior decor isn't too bad, but from the outside, it looks ghetto. they had a lot of different entrees to choose from. however i ended up with the fried rice mushroom combo. first of all. NO NO NO NO NO. wtf. you call that fried rice?!? look at my pictures for evidence. i cook better fried rice at 3am plastered. but honestly... beggars can't be choosers. and what was i expecting for an asian place in rolla, MO?!?! i bet this city only has like 4 asians living in it... and there were all working at this place. i did not get lucky at lucky house restaurant, the hot and sour soup was wack, my entree was just meh. and they didn't have hotsauce on the table.. only asian mustard and duck sauce?!?! if they had sriracha, i'd bump up this place another star. also the wonton soup was mediocre at best.... the wonton was kinda hard inside... but the soup was decent. next time if i come back here... which will be never since i'll probably never visit rolla again... i'd get 10 rangoons instead. Previously I worked close to this restaurant and it was my favorite place to eat. We were in the area and excited to have lunch there; however the food was awful. Absolutely the worst Coconut shrimp ever, no sure what the thick goopy white sauce is that they pour on the fried shrimp but there was zero coconut on the shrimp. The General chicken had a thin syrup like consistency all over the chicken with very little spice to it. Definitely not the same as it was. Will not be back. For a small-town restaurant with a pretty robust social media presence, Lucky House's food is unfortunately only average at best. Food arrives fast at Lucky House - almost disturbingly so; I would guess that no more than five minutes passed from when my order was placed to when my food was in front of me. I had General Tso's chicken with all white meat ($1 extra), fried rice, a crab rangoon, and a pork egg roll. The General's chicken was odd. It was obvious that the chicken had been fried beforehand and then had the sauce dumped over it, like a chicken nugget would be with sauce. Or, the chicken essentially was the ice in a General Tso's snocone. It is not something I really want to go out of my way to eat again. The highlight of my meal at Lucky House was the crab rangoon. It was different than any I have had before, was delightfully crunchy and peppery (black pepper), and is something I would enjoy eating again. The egg roll was reminiscent of something you'd find in your local grocer's frozen section. I don't doubt that many people in Rolla have great memories of Lucky House, and I certainly don't doubt that Lucky House's Facebook page is funny. If these two things are important to you, then by all means go. But if you're looking for great Chinese food you won't get lucky here. read more

Well the food was served in a styrofoam container- the food tasted like it was from a buffet only it wasn't. I also didn't get ANY fortune cookies and if I'm being honest with myself that is why I'm so upset and is the main reason for this review. It's just not acceptable. Ok, we have been back to Lucky House a couple of times since my last review. We keep going back there rather than trying one of the other Chinese places in town, so they're doing something right!!! I still don't understand how they make everything so dang fast, but it is GOOD so let's not worry ourselves about that. My favorite is the sweet & sour chicken with white meat only (worth the extra $1). The chicken is tender and the sauce is tasty. We tried the mu shu again - this time it wasn't weird or soggy, just a fiesta of tasty vegetables. Apparently the pancakes that come with it at other restaurants aren't necessarily "authentic," they are missed (at least by me) here. The fried rice is also very tasty - although you do get a generous helping of rice (and a crab rangoon) with each order. We order two dishes - SMALL size - for dinner for the two of us, and we always have leftovers for at least one lunch the next day. read more

I ordered orange chicken and sesame chicken and they are literally the same taste, they are all just frozen fried chicken nuggets in duck sauce, only a small difference where sesame chicken has a few sesame seeds on it. I've been going to Lucky House for over six years, but less so as they continued to raise their prices. I decided to try them again this month July '21. The service was fine and the food Ok (except for a cold, dried up egg roll), but I noticed the bill wasn't correct so I questioned them on it. They pointed to a sign on the counter that said $1.10 will be added to your meat dishes due to the rising cost of meat. I told them I had vegetable lo mein and they didn't care. "You had lo mein, you get charged the $1.10." So, not only do they not tell you about this charge, but too bad if your meal didn't even have meat! I'm done with Lucky House. read more

Honestly, we eat here all the time, because it's so close to our house. The General Tso's chicken is good, but I've had better. The Sesame chicken is pretty good as well. Their chow mein is a joke. It's just veggies and meat. Their Lo mein is also very sad. It tasted just like chicken noodle soup. It was definitely not what I wanted. They have a pretty good Kung Pow chicken, but be prepared for the heat! The Coconut chicken is a recent find. It's so yummy, but really sweet. They have pretty decent egg rolls and crab Rangoon's. We were just driving through town on a road trip and this was definitely the most satisfying and memorable meal we had. There should be a no star choice. This is the nastiest chinese food I have ever bought. Cannot say "eaten", because just a taste for both me and my husband and we threw it away. The staff and food here are both amazing!!! They have some of the best chow mein and egg drop soup!
