    Custom 16" cake
    Ariana A.

I always enjoy going to Lucky because of the huge variety of brands that they carry, lots of parking, and freebies if you're a Lucky Rewards member. Prior to Safeway opening, Lucky used to be the only grocery store in Hercules. So you could expect that right at 5pm, the lines would be huge. Nowadays it isn't too crowded inside the store, which makes for a very pleasant shopping experience. Bakery section: I always make this section a must-go for every shopping trip, even if I don't plan to buy any bakery items. There's a wide array of cookies, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, cakes, and more. This Thanksgiving we ordered a custom cake for the first time which looked great. For a 16" custom cake, the cost was only $19.99. Hot Food Section: I highly recommend the vinegar chicken. The flavor is so strong and delicious. I think it's a popular item because the past few times I went to buy some, they were sold out and I would have to wait for the new batch to be ready. Lucky Rewards: You can sing up easily for their rewards program online. $1= 1 base point, you can accumulate points for $1, $5, $10 dollar discounts. They also have weekly free items that they offer on the app. You just clip your digital coupon, enter your rewards phone number at check-out, and you automatically get the item free when the cashier scans it. Check-out Experience: There usually aren't that many lanes open, around 1 or 2. There are 4 self check-out stands available, typically one would be out of service.

4 out of 24 games available.... Very disappointed....

Sooooo, I've been in Hercules for over 20 years now.... And I have never been as disappointed in the quality of service as of lately. Everyone knows there are only 5 public schools in our city. They ALL have graduation on the same week...how much more convenient can that be for a full service grocery store to just have even 5 pallets of fresh flowers for the city to buy to celebrate graduations with?? Let's just say there are 200 kids (super low ball) per school.... 200 kids X 5 schools + teachers and staff and also regular sales...... How can they go wrong with having that quantity on hand. Instead, what did they have? Slim pickings of dying / half dead bouquets.... Not even worth $2.00 a bouquet. I was so dissatisfied that I went to plan B. Lottery scratchers. And what happened??? The only game not sold out was the $5 Scrabble scratchers? Yet, whoever is leading this ship beat me to it by making sure I can't spend any money there.

    Cooked shrimp

Stopped in for some cooked shrimps and cocktail sauce. I saw in the glass drawers the cooked shrimps I bought were listed at $8.99 a pound . I asked the friendly personnel behind the counter for 4 pounds of shrimps. Half way trying to self pay for my cocktail sauce. I noticed the price listed in the sticker wrapped shrimps said $12.99 a pound. ( I thought geesh it's more than the bigger size shrimps) Ran back to the the seafood department asked the gentleman how much a pound , he said he's $12.99. I informed him I could be wrong but I swore the sticker advertised price for eve shrimps I bought were listed as 8.99 a pound. .. he gave me his two cents as to why it costs this much. I proceeded to ask him can you flip that label over it should read $8.99 a pound .. Bingo!! Got him to change my prices a big $10 difference. make sure to always check their pricing before leaving the stores.

Of course only 2 checkouts open and a line to the back

This shop features cookies made with Southern recipes that mostly came from the owners grandmother,if I remember correctly. When you get your hands on these cookies, you can truly tell, the butter they must use in these cookies makes these cookies so tasty-the kind of taste that lingers in your mind long after your done eating them. This shop generally has I think 6 cookie flavors every month with 2 additional limited featured flavors rotating monthly-this time of year is unique as they swapped out a few of the regulars for additional holiday recipes-so I knew when I walked in,I was in for a treat. I decided to go with the 6 pack cookie box($23) this time-it's rare I get out here since I live in Sacramento,so decided to splurge instead of just going for a single cookie ($3.95)I went with 2 of each of these 3 flavors Southern Banana Pudding-Almond Roca-Peach Cobbler. I really really enjoyed the Almond Roca and the Banana Pudding cookie quite a bit,I would order both again with zero hesitations, but the true star of the show was that Peach Cobbler. This cookie was truly amazeballs!!!....so buttery, the large peach filling in the middle was so tasty, nothing artificial tasting about it at all-but what really made this thing standout was they wrap a good portion of the bottom with actual pie crust-I never had a cookie that was wrapped in pie crust before and man does that work well-my only regret was that I didn't get 6 of these bad boys-they were delicious!! In closing if you ever find yourself driving in the East Bay Area and feel a cookie craving,I'd recommend stopping at Butter Pecan-you truly won't be disappointed. PS....One last tip-they do have multiple locations, with one in Pinole-Emeryville-Concord-Fairfield and Vallejo I think-so many options for you to try these awesome cookies no matter where you are in the East Bay......One day Sacramento-hopefully?

So on my way home from boxing one day, I remembered this place had donuts. Don't judge. I had just finished boxing, so clearly I deserved not only my hot oat chai but also donuts. It's called balance, right?! I grabbed a regular glazed, chocolate glazed, two plain old fashioned, and a dozen donut holes. To my delight, the donuts were delicious! I'm particular about my plain old fashioned and plain buttermilk donuts since they are my absolute favs. Unfortunately, they didn't have buttermilk that day, but the old fashioned absolutely delivered. I love when the edges and all those little nooks are crunchy while the inside stays soft and cake-like, and these fulfilled that criteria perfectly. My husband thoroughly enjoyed both the regular and chocolate glazed, enough that we decided to come back a couple weeks later. This time, somehow an apple fritter jumped into the bag. No idea how that happened. LOL The hubby was extremely happy with that addition, so clearly the apple fritter made the right decision. Great donuts and great coffee/hot chai, but what gives Cafe Tapioca that little something extra are the ladies working here. They're welcoming, friendly, and easy to have a conversation with. It gives the place that warm mom-and-pop feel that I really appreciate. Love supporting these types of spots. And apparently I now have somewhere to conveniently undo whatever I just accomplished at boxing.

Every bite is hearty and it's truly a "healthy" packed portion sandwich - they do not skimp on ingredients, it's well worth the price and you will be satisfied after you consume it! I've also recently had their Vietnamese coffee which is well worth the sweetness, caffeine and calories. I have also had smoothies and a vanilla latte from time to time. Customer service is always exceptional (even when it's busy!) and the funnest part is they sell LOTTO tickets at the counter or by the machine. It's clean, there's a good variety of drinks, donuts and sandwiches to order for brekkie to lunch or anytime- it's Great spot. I highly recommend this spot.

I reached out to Eric to cater mini mochi donuts for my wedding in March and his customer service was superb. He was so personable and friendly that I just wanted to order just because of that! I ended up ordering 5 dozen minis and everyone at my wedding LOVED them. So much that I didn't even get to have any myself during reception. What stands out the most about Mochata's donuts is that the flavor is actually IN the donut itself. Not just the icing that we're all used to. And the texture? Exactly the way a mochi should taste. Flavors? ON POINT!! The toppings are very generous, especially the Cookies N Cream and Mint Oreo. My absolute favorites are Coconut Pandan, Ube and Strawberries N Cream and my husband always goes for the Mint Oreo. I haven't tried all the flavors yet but I have no doubt that they all taste delicious. I also got myself a Thai Horchata drink. I never thought about combining the two flavors together and it was super good! Now I feel like I need to try every flavor of that as well. The right amount of chewiness that I like in my mochi! The donuts have flavor infused into the dough as well as the glaze-- unlike other places where the glaze is the only part with flavor. I ordered strawberry, Thai tea and Ube. My kids loved them and so did the adults. I do wish the Thai tea and Ube tasted a little bit more like the flavor, but they were still yummy!
