My shopping experience was very well. As I was looking around I couldn't find a single item until I approached an employee named Noel I asked him where a certain item was and he politely told me exactly which aisle and where exactly to look. It's like he had exact pin point location.. After I came to him again same thing he knew exactly what item I was looking for I didn't even say how the item looked like he just googled the item right there he knew where it was. I have been coming here for years and each customer I ran into always told me go ask Noel he is very helpful and he takes his time helping other customers with items that are hard to find.. Thank you for having someone like him who knows where all the items are.. This will be my go to place for food supplies. I'm writing this letter to the grocery store about their buy 2 get 1 free fruit bowl deal. Thing is, the pineapple bowl, watermelon and cantalope or honey dew, they had was kinda... rough Like, it had pineapple eyes still on it. Not dirty or anything, but just not what you'd expect, you know? I'm saying, if you're gonna sell pre-cut pineapple, might as well do it right and remove those eyes. After my encounter today, I am not sure I will be contributing to providing any type of money into this establishment based on the accusation that a self check out teller accuse me of stealing. I have shopped here for many years being that it is my neighborhood grocery store. Never have I ever encountered a situation where I have been accused of stealing, especially with someone standing right in front of me. During my scanning of items, I decided not to bag certain things being that they do not need bag therefore, a young gentleman he did the check did the scan, and he went on about supporting another customer because the person that was supposed to stand at the registers, she walked away to ring up someone else on a different register Upon her return she asked me was I going to scan the items that were left in my cart and I informed her these items were very much so already taken care of. She told me she did not believe me and requested to see my receipt and being that I had nothing to hide. I showed her and she tells me the top three items on my receipt were not on my receipt as if I did not scan them. If I did not scan them how are they on my receipt? I'm not understanding I then made multiple calls to the store to file a complaint being that that was a horrible interaction. It was disrespectful. It was rude. It was unorthodox considering you're standing right there. I shop in the store almost every day spend hundreds of dollars each week. I am disappointed. I really hope that the manager takes things seriously regarding matters like this. People make hard earned money to go shopping for their families, and they are accused of stealing it baffles me to accuse someone of something when the evidence suggest otherwise and then you act as though you don't see those evidence. Seem like Lucky needs to get their self checkout register running properly. It seems like there are one self checkout that is down then other days it is two that are down. Thankfully there was NEVER one self checkout register that was running. Somehow when you use the self checkout there isn't one Lucky employee eyeing it. They're on the register ringing up people. Lately this location added a gate to enter the store. Only way to leave Lucky is through the self checkout. I started to bank at U.S. Bank. The bank inside Lucky doesn't get crowded like Wells Fargo Bank. I manage to find the food that is advertise in the ad in stock. The last day of the advertisement the food advertise is out of stock. Amazing how Lucky is still doing business with Safeway being a block away. Hercules luck in having two grocery stores not far from each other. read more

Jessica was snappy! Not good! Rudeness in customer service is unacceptable. My wife and I briefly stopped in the freezer section, where we saw an employee named Jessica looking at items. I thought it would be appropriate to ask her a quick question. I began by saying, "Hi Jessica, about the smoked turkey..." but before I could finish, she abruptly interrupted me and said, "Go ask at the meat section!" I turned to my wife and then attempted to continue by saying, "I just wanted to know..." At that point, without even looking at me, she responded sharply, "I said go to the meat department--they can help you!" I hope this is not the type of tone that is encouraged at Lucky's, as most of your staff are usually very courteous and helpful. Please look into this matter. read more

It took 20+ minutes standing in line to buy one bottle of wine...there was only one checker open. Never again. Plus, there prices are consistently exorbitant. I am a local customer and have shopped here for years . Unfortunately I will not be returning the older lady at self check out on 05/26/2025 is extremely rude. They assume everyone is stealing and will talk to you like trash. Condescending and racist staff member at the self check out line. The staff who assisted the self check out line was condescending and asked an elderly lady, "Can you read the screen?" when she asked for help. I see she was targeting a specific race. It was our turn in line and we couldn't figure out which type of grapes we should enter for the self check out machine and proceeded to ask for help. The lady rudely said, "You can't read the screen? Here is how you spell grape. G-R-A...". It was quite a condescending experience and I wish other customers would not experience the same situation. I've been a loyal customer at this Lucky store for a long time, shopping here almost daily with my children. However, after my recent experience, I will no longer be giving them my business. The customer service at this location is unacceptable. The elderly woman at self-checkout is consistently rude and dismissive, treating regular customers as if they are a problem rather than valued patrons. Another employee, Hispanic women always has an attitude and lacks basic professionalism. Instead of offering friendly service, they are short-tempered and unwelcoming. They consistently exhibit an attitude that suggests they do not want to be there and are dissatisfied with their jobs. An incident occurred at this store and escalated quickly due to both clerks raising their voices at me and that was the last straw for me. What's most frustrating is that I have always been a respectful and frequent customer, yet I was spoken to in a way that was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. I always enjoy going to Lucky because of the huge variety of brands that they carry, lots of parking, and freebies if you're a Lucky Rewards member. Prior to Safeway opening, Lucky used to be the only grocery store in Hercules. So you could expect that right at 5pm, the lines would be huge. Nowadays it isn't too crowded inside the store, which makes for a very pleasant shopping experience. Bakery section: I always make this section a must-go for every shopping trip, even if I don't plan to buy any bakery items. There's a wide array of cookies, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, cakes, and more. This Thanksgiving we ordered a custom cake for the first time which looked great. For a 16" custom cake, the cost was only $19.99. Hot Food Section: I highly recommend the vinegar chicken. The flavor is so strong and delicious. I think it's a popular item because the past few times I went to buy some, they were sold out and I would have to wait for the new batch to be ready. Lucky Rewards: You can sing up easily for their rewards program online. $1= 1 base point, you can accumulate points for $1, $5, $10 dollar discounts. They also have weekly free items that they offer on the app. You just clip your digital coupon, enter your rewards phone number at check-out, and you automatically get the item free when the cashier scans it. I'm pretty sad to be writing this review because before Safeway this was my go to place, but now it feels like Lucky has terrible customer service. One of my bad experiences happened a few months ago where I did not receive a refund for a $10 watermelon that I returned a few minutes after I purchased it because I realized it was too expensive (being in season). I let it go, but then the times that I came back after that I just couldn't find the items that I needed. There aren't many organic options and not only that, but most of the items that I buy are marked at least 10-20% more than Safeway. I've also had issues with their reward system which sucks :/. Sooooo, I've been in Hercules for over 20 years now.... And I have never been as disappointed in the quality of service as of lately. Everyone knows there are only 5 public schools in our city. They ALL have graduation on the same week...how much more convenient can that be for a full service grocery store to just have even 5 pallets of fresh flowers for the city to buy to celebrate graduations with?? Let's just say there are 200 kids (super low ball) per school.... 200 kids X 5 schools + teachers and staff and also regular sales...... How can they go wrong with having that quantity on hand. Stopped in for some cooked shrimps and cocktail sauce. I saw in the glass drawers the cooked shrimps I bought were listed at $8.99 a pound . I asked the friendly personnel behind the counter for 4 pounds of shrimps. Half way trying to self pay for my cocktail sauce. I noticed the price listed in the sticker wrapped shrimps said $12.99 a pound. This is for the bakery. My niece was visiting from out of town and celebrating her 16th birthday. Because last minute she tells us she wanted red velvet we tried to see if there was a bakery that can make this cake at least in 3 days advance. We weren't asking for an extravagant tier layered or overtop cake so I don't see how difficult making a simple half sheet would be. The cake came out dismally done where they couldn't even fix the corner that looked smashed in. Basically the only way I could fix it was to buy another birthday cake to detract from the appalling Lucky's cake, and buy accessories to cover the mess on that corner. This grocery store is extremely disgusting. They deleted the last review I wrote, however, that won't stop me from sharing the truth. 4 or so months ago I was doing my usual shopping after paying a visit to the local bank.. I was walking towards the frozen food isle at approximately 11am with a cart full of groceries and fresh meats from their deli.. when I had one of the biggest scares of a lifetime. I look towards the isle and notice 3 brown RATS. . Yes RATS run across the freezer isle extremely quickly and dive into the white vents below the freezer isle. I could not believe it. I asked the other person in the isle if they just saw what I saw and she shrieked "YES!" And stormed out. I had never seen a rat in a grocery store until today. I immediately went to the front end to file a grieveance with the cashier of what happened and to let him know I needed to speak to the store manager IMMEDIATELY. The cashier asked "What happened?" and I said just call the store manager over please. They paged him and he came up.. a handsome man I must say lol anyways I told him about what happened and he didn't show any expression of concern or shock he just said "Ok thank you." And walked away. I was a bit annoyed but I figured this wasn't the first time he was told this. He allowed me to put the fresh to go meats back as I refused to buy any groceries there. I appreciated this gesture. I only bought the gift cards and the associates put everything back for me. Never ever will I buy food here again. This is extremely dangerous and this place needs to be investigated for a blatantly obvious rat infestation. I'm filing a complaint with the health department as the store manager obviously never hired an exterminator (the vents under the freezer, multiple, still have damaged air vents and there's no screen in any of them just a big wide hole the RATS () left. I have a severe phobia of these parasites rodents useless entities and I don't care if i sound like a karen.. this is dangerous and having management experience myself.. just downright unacceptable. This is NOT how you run a business. By ignoring urgent situations like this, you're setting yourself and your staff up for failure. What if the rat infestation gets so terrible the store is forced to shut down? It affects everyone as a whole. I prefer Lucky over the Safeway in our area but there is room for improvement during this time of the pandemic. I was there a few days ago to buy 3 items. I was able to find all 3 which I am thankful for. After using self checkout, I noticed two employees not properly wearing masks. When I left I decided to call to speak to the manager. I got the assistant manager. I complimented them on the signage outside and inside the store. Then I told him how two employees were not properly wearing a mask. I see this every time I shop there during this time. I described them to him and said where they were working. I get it - it's hard to breathe with masks. But if this is one way to help prevent corona virus from continuing to spread - by golly we all need to do our part. What good is it if we all don't. Newly renovated Luckys ! It's great for all most everything but only my go to because it's closest to home. They have almost everything and have a redbox and a bank inside. I love coming for the fresh produce and meats and seafoods. They also have a decent bakery as well. They have a florist and balloon section that's the best in Hercules. Then I noticed they were having a $6.99 sale on 8 pieces of dark meat chicken. Although I knew what to expect (quality wise) I couldn't let it pass up! Why not. I was outta there in about 5 minutes. So I come here pretty frequently since I live close by and its very convenient. Today I realize I need a few items for dinner so I decide to make a quick run to Lucky. I get there and there are no smaller carts which is not ideal but I grab a large one and go about my shopping needs. Once I have everything I head on over to an open register and chose the one where I can see the person has less items. I walk up and start placing my items on the belt and it immediately starts moving since the person in front is about done. This young (what seems to be about a twenty something year old with black hair) guy is at the register. I look up and he doesn't even greet me or say hi, or anything which, I thought was a little rude but ok. He then proceeds to take my items quickly and was throwing them to the other side. I had several avocados and really did not appreciate that at all. In the middle of him just blatantly ignoring my insistence he then proceeds to talk to a co worker and is very unprofessional. Then once all my items were angrily tossed in bags he hands me the receipt and I then say thank you. Yet, still nothing from this guy, wow just wow. I don't deserve this kind of treatment for just going about my day. This person should get a talk about how to deal with customers or be taken off the floor and put to use stocking groceries so he can't interact with the public. Well this Luckys is like all the others.... stunk when we walked in the front doors. Why oh why does this happen?!? We held our noses and started looking around. We wanted to check the place out because we thought it may become our go to grocery store in the very near future. We were there pretty late so it wasn't packed with people, but there were still quite a few folks milling about doing their shopping. I liked that there is a very nice all occasion card section. We found a couple that are perfect for up coming events. We also found a really nice spicy mustard that's been a very pleasant surprise. We did not go near the meat section. That's because the unpleasant odor that greeted us smelled like old blood and we figured it had to be coming from the butcher department. It's a big store. The appearance is clean and well stocked. The woman who rang up our items was very helpful in answering questions we had and getting us on our way quickly. I think since this is the only grocery store in town, we would have to use it as a default when we find ourselves in need of an item or two and would not have the time to go out of town. Maybe even for the produce. I would be happier about making it a regular shopping stop if only it didn't make me gag when I walked in. read more

I've been to this location a few times already ans the staff at the produce, deli, and meat section are so sooo helpful and friendly! It's nice to have kind people around in my new city. The store is well organized and stocked. They even have Filipino goods which is a major plus! They have a nice bakery and hot/salad bar section where I see a lot of customers picking up dinner. This store needs serious training for their employees. I went to get butter that's advertised for 1.99 with the clipped coupon. I asked for help from 2 employees plus the manager, Ashley, and none of them knew how to help me even though they could see it was discounted with the clipped coupon. Their customer service is horrible and it explains why Safeway is busier and does better. I live in Hercules and it's easier for me to shop at luckys but I won't go back there again. I recently bought my x'mas tree here about a week ago. What can I say? Definitely one of the nicer grocery stores in the area. The checkers I've had here have been nice and I also love the anti-social self-checkout registers that Lucky provides in their stores. Many years ago, I had a $20 off x'mas tree coupon in SF for Marina Middle School or something to that effect. After coupon, that darn tree still cost me $120!!! Granted, it went to a good cause, but come on! Ever since then, I've lumped x'mas trees with Halloween pumpkins...there is a HUGE difference in price depending on where you get it and expensive does not necessarily mean any better. In this case, price is no longer indicative of quality. Last year, bought my tree from the new Bayshore Lowe's in SF a week before x'mas for next to nothing. This year, I spent a little more, but only because I liked what I saw. My only mistake was thinking that my big car trunk could fit an '8 - '9 foot tree with a little bending. NOT! Well, at this point, it was bought and paid for so I ended up driving all the way back to SF with over four feet of tree sticking out. The car is still new, so I didn't want to put it on the roof. I tied the trunk lid down, but had all kinds of visions of making the six o'clock news with a x'mas tree that caused a big pileup on Hwy 80 or the Bay Bridge...LOL. Stopped by the Japanese market on the way back to get my dad some sushi and got some really nice compliments on the part of the tree that was sticking out of my car. I told them that they had no idea what I had to go through to get it here. LOL Thankfully, made it back home without incident and no holiday greetings from the CHP. Crossing the Bay Bridge was especially interesting. Next year, I will use a little more foresight and purchase closer to home. Then again, I really fell in love with this one tree so it was worth the effort. I posted a picture. This is the most convenient grocery store to my house. I'm going to come right out and say it: the layout is STRANGE. Most supermarkets have a standard layout where produce, meat, dairy is on the edges, groceries and sundries line the middle. The trouble is that the shelf-stable groceries and sundries are all mixed together in a strange, arbitrary order that makes NO sense whatsoever. When I visited last (January 2015), the manager seemed to be very active and was going up and talking to customers, making sure that things were okay. Not sure if this is a usual thing but definitely noticeable. What is interesting about this location is that it's really geared toward the Filipino-American population. You can find a lot of tropical fruits and vegetables, as well as Filipino groceries. No need to go to 99 Ranch for a bag of Boy Bawang, a package of bihon or bottle of Jufran. They got it all right here. Hell, they even refrigerate the spam and put it next to the eggs so you're ready for breakfast. (No, seriously, they do.) AND they just installed a fish frying station. Yeah, like you'd see at Ranch 99. In the words of Rex Navarette, this place is HELLA PINOY.
