I wasn't too familiar with what to get when I walked in but I knew my family has liked the bread from the one in San Pablo. So I ordered a couple of apples filled ones from the display case and ended up ordering a bag of like 10. They weren't fresh or hot. I guess I should have asked for the fresh ones but I also wish the person there would have at least asked me. Prolly not her fault but they shouldn't assume everyone who walks into their store knows what to get. I will give them another try to see if the hot bread is any better. read more

It's my first time here, and I was excited because compared to the locations near me, their senorita bread also came in different flavors. They had nutella, strawberry, apple, and cheese. All of them were delicious, along with the turnovers. This place is small and the lady told me they've been here for about a year now. Actual Starbread brick and mortar bakery in Hercules! Close to freeway for those commuters wanting to pick some up before work. Read some of the prior reviews of the señorita bread being a hit or miss, but every time I've picked up some they were the same warm, delicious, melt in your mouth, if you haven't tried one you will get addicted, señorita bread like Vallejo and San Pablo bakery. There is always a minimum 5 minute wait because you want it fresh and hot, also depending on the amount you are buying. Prices did go up a bit, but supporting a local business keeps them and other business up and running. read more

Ventured here this morning. It is closer to my house than the usual location I patronage in San Pablo, I decided to give it a try. The store front is small and can easily be missed. It is a few doors down to the left of Domino's. The inside is clean, nicely displayed signage and well lit. When I was greeted about a minute or so later, the woman asked how many with a smile, I said 15. She emphasized, "five-zero," and when I replied, "one-five" her smiled dropped and disappeared. Since the reviews on this location are mixed, I did not want to spend much for something I would not be satisfied with. If I enjoyed, I could purchase more. When I opened the box, I immediately knew the senorita bread was not quality. The bread looks dry, lacking the buttery sugary glaze on top. When you bite into, even after warming it up, it is dry and doughy with very very little sweetness. I will not be returning to this location. I will add the extra time to my commute to travel to the San Pablo location - I know is superior, consistent and authentic. read more

Can't believe Starbread opened a shop in Hercules. Of course, you have to try their senorita bread. This bread is so addictive. One piece is only a couple of bites to devour. You have to order a big box, 20 or more, to satisfy your craving for senorita bread. Our order comes out of the oven fresh and warm. This is one of the Filipino pastries that everyone enjoys. Other store was always rude and grumpy face cashier. I bought halo-halo las time. The price is expensive & it's not reasonable for its price. Nothing special. If you're cravings for halo-halo. It's a brand new location. I'm happy we have a bakery in town. Gives us another option to the donut shop. I've been here a few times. The bread could be baked a little longer for more of a brown top. So.. this morning I called to order 40 pieces and Shiela said that they don't accept order via phone which I understand, she asked me to call again in 5minute closer to arrival which I did. I ordered 40 pieces and she said it's $32. I asked why $32 when the website prices say $24. That's $8 more. This inconsistency is not only disappointing but also feels like false advertising. As a customer, you expect transparency and accuracy in pricing, . The service was fine and the shop was clean. What was surprising was it doesn't taste the same as the senorita bread my family has loved for years. The bread was fresh however the filling was lacking the signature sweet buttery yummy taste. Plus it was dry on the outside when normally there's a light buttery glaze on top. The bread is good. Usually fresh. But on some days I have been given burnt and reheated bread. The service is hit or miss. I've been there enough times to know who's there in the mornings. There is a guy that works there in the mornings who is really rude. Today I put in an order for an 10 piece and he told me 5 minutes, 10 minutes later he was just conversating* with the cook. When I spoke up to ask for my bread he began to lecture me on patience, saying "you need to be patient" and "don't come here if you have somewhere to go". Then I asked to cancel the order and he said your order is already ready. 5 mins later he presented me with 10 pieces of half cooked bread. He said "no refunds because you've already paid for the order." As he put the bread on the counter he said "next time be patient." I asked for a refund and he said "no refunds." I left and called but the owner wasn't there, he answered and said "I don't know when she's coming." I waited an hour and went back in and the owner still wasn't there. So I demanded a refund. He said "no I can't do that you already paid for it." There are no "No refund" signs in the shop. I demanded a refund and that he call the owner to get me a refund because at this point I'm not eating the half baked-bread. He called the owner and lied, he said that I refused to be patient and he didn't mention that I asked for a refund. So I informed the owner (who was on speakerphone) that he was refusing to give me a refund. After much back and forth, she instructed him to give me a refund and he continued to argue with me until the cash was returned. I like star bread but I prefer it without the morning drama. Went here a few days ago and got a box of their seniorita bread and saw they were also selling some cookies. I asked the lady that helped me if they made it themselves because they looked like the ones sold at Costco. She looked in my eyes and said yes, they made them there. So I believed her and bought some. When I got home the seniorita bread was a hit but everyone said that the cookies were 100% the ones from Costco bakery area, lol.
