Smokehouse rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes and macaroni salad
Jason C.

Well deserved 2022 Update End of Year Review. Cheap Eats on a budget through Door Dash....... My husband and I did not want to cook and it was getting late outside to walk to the store to get dinner arranged. So around Mid Afternoon, I placed an order for a Lucky's Meal Deal. You get 1 Rotisserie Chicken of your choice plus 2 sides. I picked out the Smokehouse flavor chicken plus potatoes with gravy and macaroni salad. The portions of the potatoes and macaroni salad were just right for two people and there were absolutely no left overs. All this cost just $19.99 plus tax and delivery fees. Was very impressed. I love chicken but this is the best way to go for a quick dinner and prep was maybe 15 minutes to reheat a little at 325 according to the instructions on the bag for oven heating.

Clean and well kept interior even as it's an obviously older structure

Went here to use the ATM and bathroom - although the whole shopping center is drab and rundown - the store itself is clean, including the locked bathrooms that the employee had to unlock for me

ILLEGAL DUMPING ON SAVE MART CORPORATE PROPERTY
Jersey C.

im giving this review 3 stars because the property manager and the maintenance team cleaned the parking and got rid of the drug dealing and the unhoused and the trash only after the city came after them! luckys corporate which is savemart has no idea and can care less about this property! they refuse to fund for the resources that are needed to keep the property in good standards. that is what i call a corporate slumlord! fencing is needed around the property on harder road to keep the unhouse from camping and leaving a mess every day. security was caught sleeping on duty instead of monitoring the property. the dumpsters are left out and not locked so there is a lot of illegal dumping by people. trash everywhere! savemart corporate you need to do better for the community that you serve in!

This is our local grocery store. We shop here all the time. Usually lines aren't bad. Checkers are friendly.

I'm giving 4 stars because the store is great for the regular shoppers. The store is open daily from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. The employees were friendly and available. My wife didn't find the lip balm that she was looking for, but a male employee did his best to help her. The Christmas decorations are low-key, but nice. There are even a lot of small stockings with the names of the employees on them. I'm bringing this up because the staff being like a family was the basic vibe that I felt. There were a good number of items on sale. There were also some NEW FOR YOU items. A lot of the signage here looks vintage, but it's all easy to read and helpful. There's a decent selection of beef jerky products, but zero-sugar meat sticks taste too bland to me. I was willing to buy an egg salad or tuna sandwich, but neither seem to be sold here. The selection of prebiotic drinks is excellent. (When I tried the drinks years ago, my stomach did so many backflips that it made a gymnastics team.) 3 shoppers were annoying and in the way, but that's a common theme when I go grocery shopping anywhere. Note: Both prices include tax. BROOKiE SQUARES CHOCOLATE CHIP ($5.26): 7.5/10. The ones from another chain are better, but my wife is a fan. The Tom's deodorant for my son was $11.06. This is a bit pricey. Powerhouse Hobbs: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/66/Will_%22Powerhouse%22_Hobbs%2C_2022_%28headshot%29.jpg A local professional wrestler entered the store right after we left (I was stunned, and only quietly said hi). He plays a heel (a bad guy), and he was snarling when he walked up. It's nice that he stays in character. Lol. This will never be our go-to store, but we had a good experience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZCm4iy8k6o&t=1s

Check in the store as you may only realize once you get home. Overall, the store itself is neat and clean, and the employees are very friendly. They also offer a wide variety of organic options, which is a plus. But I would double check any produce before you buy.

I remembered a place on Jackson Street that I had gone to 5 years ago that had a tremendous selection - looked it up on Yelp and it was no longer on Jackson, but was listed in Castro Valley. So we went thought we'd go by and give it a try. Great decision! The "new" store in Castro Valley is much brighter, cleaner, nicer than the old location. I think the old location had more stuff from Eastern Europe, but this new location seems to have a broader selection, with more stuff from Western Europe and the Middle East. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and helpful - always willing to answer questions and even give tips on how to use the products that they sell. And his recommendations have been great - we asked him about which tahini and zaatar to get (they have many different brands/types of each...) and the ones he recommended have been way tastier than any of the brands that you find in most markets. Especially good was his recommendation on lebnah - he said that the brands they carry are all good, but they have some that they package in-house that was special. I tried it - it was less expensive than the other brands, but was the very best lebnah that I have ever tasted! Richer, creamier, with just the right amount of tang. Wonderful stuff! Anyway, Crossroads is a nice, clean, well-lit place with a great selection of unique products, and friendly, knowledgeable sales staff. Well worth a trip!

I went to pick it up on Wednesday, only to be told it wasn't ready yet. When I explained that I had already called it in on Sunday, the employee initially said she didn't see anything in the system and told me to come back the next day. After I reminded her again that I had called in, she suddenly "found" it and told me to come back in 2 hours and that I would receive a text message when it was ready. I never received the text message they promised. I returned on Friday, and once again they couldn't locate my prescription. After more searching, they finally found it -- but they also tried to give me someone else's order at the same time. I had to explain that I only had one prescription and asked them to verify it using my phone number, not just my last name. The entire experience was very unprofessional, disorganized, and frustrating. On top of that, the drive-thru wait was over 20 minutes. For something as important as prescriptions, accuracy and communication should be a priority. This pharmacy seriously needs to improve its customer service and organization.

I'm also old enough that I can say "I remember when. . . " And not sound like I'm auditioning for a part I am too young for . . . So, here goes: I remember when I lived at 12th&Taraval in SF. Just three straight uphill blocks from a Safeway. I lived in a 3rd story walk up apartment with my boyfriend and two cats, Blitzkrieg and Zippo. I would get groceries just to get paper bags sometimes to change my catliter. So these paper bags had handles and could safely hold groceries carried home often in Carl the fog or straight up rain, and THEN hold 10-15 pounds of soiled cat litter and poop down 3 flights of stairs without so much as tearing, let alone becoming completely structurally unsound. This is my grocery bag upon being picked up once. Once. You can't tell me it's not purposeful that these bags are garbage. It's bad enough Safeway gouges us on grocery prices, but to then disrespect the groceries we do but from them by making sure they drop on the floor immediately because of this shameful excuse for a paper bag. It's unreasonable. Completely unreasonable. This bag has English muffins, a piece of salmon and ladies hygiene pads. Almost no weight, and it tore upon being touched by a human. Safeway is a huge grocery chain . . . Do better.
