A poppin' but chill little spot on Rainey Street if you're looking for a daytime drinking spot. The DJ here played FIRE music all afternoon -- the vibe isn't as dance-y as some of the other spots BUT I really loved it. They have hammocks and an abundance of chairs both inside and outdoors! It was a great spot to vibe with friends since it wasn't overly crowded -- we brought card games and grabbed drinks and had a ton of fun. I really loved their Lucille Tea specialty drink! read more

My husband Matt B. and I took a stroll down Rainey Street while we were in Austin last month, and decided to drop into Lucille to sit for a minute and enjoy a little patio time on a Sunday afternoon. I'm not drinking these days, but my husband had a beer and we spent half an hour or so chilling at one of the small tables out back. It was an interesting place, if not exactly my usual scene. The vibe was lively and just a little bit rowdy, with an eclectic crowd I couldn't quite pin down. There were a number of dogs, which I always like, though a couple of them were visibly unneutered. There was also a lemur--cute, but an extremely irresponsible pet choice, notes the judgmental tourist woman at the bar. A number of folks were just sitting down and relaxing like us, but some people were going all in with the day drinking. I went to the bathroom at one point and a young woman was pounding on the door of her stall, yelling that she was stuck inside and pleading to be let out. It turned out the door to that stall was a sliding door--easiest act of heroism I've ever performed. I liked Lucille's atmosphere overall. It was fun hanging out in what felt like the backyard of someone's house. I'm sure I would've had more fun if I'd had a little of what bathroom girl was having, but it was worth a quick visit, even sober. read more

They straight put up a SIGN that says "No Dancing Allowed" while at the same time having a DJ. The owner must be confused. Won't be going back. Plenty of other places on Rainey to go to. read more

I LOVE Lucille's for it's chill atmosphere and good meeting spot. Lately there has been a DJ who thinks he is at The Ranch playing all this sex music. He does have good music at times. But I miss the original Lucille's for what it always has been. A good meeting spot where you can HEAR what one another is saying. read more

I unfortunately going to give this bar one star due to the extremely rude bartender. It was a Saturday night and she had no interest in helping customers or being friendly. We had a large group and we all went to another bar. We had just had dinner at Emmer and Rye which was excellent and would highly recommend so very disappointing to meet such a rude bartender. The manager did not seem to care so must be a culture issue. read more

Moscow mules, bloody marys, micheladas, spicy margs... and the signature cocktails are $6 during happy hour (that's until 7:30pm) ...For the grape juice fans, the selection is minimal/simple and inexpensive ($6-10 a glass). This bar is a great go-to on Rainey St, going for more of a hangout, chill vibe than some of the other places on Rainey. We've always really enjoyed going to the back patio area and sitting for a couple cocktails with friends. Their selection consists of bottled or draft beers, seasonal cocktails and even drink combos like a simple beer & shot deal. Got their wasabi Bloody Mary and was quite good, perfect amount of wasabi, spice, tomato. Guaranteed to be a nice time here at Lucille, other bars nearby for a more dancey feel. read more

Some of the best halloween decorations in Austin, Lucille was a spooky fun spot to grab a drink. We came in for a drink and to enjoy the Halloween decor. I went with a cucumber martini and while it was pretty good, it could have been stronger. All the drinks we tried had more cucumber flavor then alcohol. Really nice staff! read more

Came across the gem on Rainey. We went out late on a Monday night to meet up with a friend visiting from Vermont. I wanted her to experience the best of Austin but also be able to converse and hear one another. Lucille was the perfect spot. It was just quiet enough with beautiful ambience. I drank the Rainey Roma which was perfect for my taste. It's refreshing and not overly sweet. The back area is dog friendly with places to hang out in a hammock, play cornhole, hula hoop or just sit and talk. The bartender was welcoming and attentive. The bartenders at the counter make you feel like you can be their new best friend. Very nice and personable and also fast service. The aesthetics, it's so cozy here, warm colors, more of an intimate atmosphere on the inside which is different than many other bars or Rainey. Yet there's a patio (of course it's Rainey) that has hammocks, other nice seating options and another bar. During the holidays they have the cutest decorations to celebrate. The drinks, I like gin, gin is my alcohol of choice *shocking* and the Rainey Roma has that and everything else I want in a drink. It's $6 during happy hour and comes in a pretty decent sized glass. They also have the best hot spiked holiday drinks I'd probably say on that street. If you're looking for adult hot chocolate or cider just go ahead and step inside. read more

I was in Austin Texas for a bachelorette party (like everyone else in town)! We strolled in not thinking anything of it, honestly it was more of a place for us to regroup. But then we met the DJ Jason, and he changed everything for us. He played everything we wanted to hear and more to the point that when our group wanted to leave, we promised we'd come back and we did and ended up closing down the bar! After dinner, we hit a few bars on Rainey Street and stumbled upon Lucille's toward the end of the night (for us). It was a great place to relax in the open air venue. Music was good and drinks were reasonable - Tini's and Mule's for $11 each. Towards 10 p.m. the younger crowd started showing up and we had a great time people watching. Some even brought their dogs which I'm not crazy about but it wasn't annoying... one was a puppy. Can't wait to go back! read more

This patio/lounge is, in my opinion, one of the best overall on Rainey street. It is dog friendly, there's tons of seating in and outside, for Christmas they go all out with decorating, and they have great happy hour specials. I think it was just personal taste preference, but I didn't love my cucumber/grapefruit cocktail. A crisp, Kolsch beer on tap made up for it, though. One of my many bar stops on my first night in Austin, I liked Lucille the best of the night. We only stopped in for a round of drinks, but the Lucille Special Tea (I had A LOT of sweet tea vodka that first night) and the Wasabi Bloody Mary were delicious. The atmosphere is super relaxed with a inside and outside seating (ton of adorable dogs), and SUPER cheap happy hour drinks. One of the best bars on Rainey Street! I love the casual yet grown and sexy vibe that Lucille offers. Just like most bars in Austin, Lucille consists of an indoor bar and outdoor patio. The outdoor space is huge. Perfect place to sit down and spend time with a friend or a significant other as you can actually hear the person that you're talking to. Hip Hop music is playing in the background, perfect to bob your head to. The atmosphere is dark, yet lit by candles on the tables and white string lights outdoors. What a great bar in Austin! We loved making a stop here before heading out to dinner. Great staff and a great outdoor space! Lots of games if you wanted to have something on the table and the music was on point. Lot of classics that we love and definitely contrast to a lot of the raves and club scenes near by. This place was great! All of the bartenders were super friendly, quick and attentive. I liked the layout of the bar and the ambiance. They have a huge open area, with lots of seating, tables, different things to do. This place also seemed to be pet friendly, which was nice to see as several people brought their dogs with them. We ended up taking over a table that had Janga on it and played that. Aside from that, they also have Hammock, corn hole and other activities. Next time I'm in town, I'm definitely going back again! I came here with a friend for some after dinner drinks and a relaxing good time. It looks like an old home converted into a bar. There is plenty of space outside to sit and play games. I loved being outside because it was such a beautiful night. We sat on the side of the house and enjoyed giant Jenga. We met some other people playing games and made new friends. I like that the outside is dog friendly. Our drinks weren't anything to rave about but we had a great time. I would like to check it out again when I return to Austin. read more

One of the best places on Rainey Street. They have a great atmosphere in the main inside as well as the outside patio. They also have a bar in the back, which helps tremendously for ordering drinks. From a good beer selection, great selection on liquor (try their Lucille special tea, it is amazing and they put a lot of love into it!), an awesome patio with different outdoor games, and a lot of places to sit and chat, you cannot go wrong here. It was the first night of SXSW, and my colleague and I went down Rainey Street. Literally, any bar that we walked into we probably would've had the best time, but we were walking down the streets basically window shopping for the best looking one. A lot of them were closed down for private events, or setting up for the week but we chose Lucille based on how cool it looked from the outside. We saw that there was an indoor and outdoor area and the outdoor area had hammocks and all kinds of fun stuff. We went in and we realized it was definitely a place to order a craft cocktail or a martini. My colleague ordered a gin inspired craft cocktail and I ordered my classic martini. It was a little bit heavy on the vermouth, but ultimately still drinkable. The prices were not too bad, considering it is an upscale lounge. We decided to go outside because it was a beautiful night. We found seating very easily that was right by the street so we could people watch. I on the hammock, and my colleague in the booth. Overall, this is a really fun place to grab a drink with your friends. I would definitely return here! read more

We've lived on Rainey for nearly two decades at this point. We've watched this street go from a charming little neighborhood to swelling into a boisterous, frat-tastic, 6th Street carryover. And instead of embracing the regulars, Lucille has suddenly become one of the stereotypes. We used to love this spot. We especially enjoyed the Wednesday night movies in the back and at one point, my husband even curated the movies - offering the previous manager movie ideas around the holidays. We also loved the holiday drinks they severed. In fact, I was dying for a tasty mulled wine this season. We hadn't been into Lucille for some time because we recently had our first child. Being a regular on Rainey, the majority of the establishments were elated to meet our baby after she was born and some people would offer me a long-awaited cocktail. Meanwhile, we sauntered in early (see 6/7 p.m.) on a very slow Wednesday night with our 8 month in tow with the intention of sipping a cocktail with a few friends and enjoying one of the holiday movies on their back patio (also empty). My husband walked in with our baby in his arms and was told it was strictly 21+. I was shocked that I was allowed in there to watch other friends drink while I was pregnant, saw dogs running all around the bar in and outside, but a baby in a stroller wasn't allowed to sit out back for about 1/2 an hour. Y'all, I get it. I wouldn't take my baby to 6th Street on a Friday night, but I certainly do wish I could feel welcomed on my own street at a bar that I've been going to for more years than their apparent demographic has been able to legally drink. read more

Came across Rainey Street while walking along Town Lake on a Sunday afternoon. So many cool looking bars in old homes, and we were craving a Bloody Mary. We were drawn to Lucille by the music and the happy hour sign so we went inside and wasabi Bloody Mary was a signature cocktail. Happy hour drinks were $5!!! The Bloody Mary was awesome, as were the back patio, misters and DJ. We ended up staying several hours and having every drink on the happy hour menu. Loved the El Jefe margarita. Nice mix of people of all ages - much more relaxed and enjoyable than the jangle of sixth street. Very eclectic crowd of older, middle, and young patrons. It's like a dive bar, but kinda not. That's the best way to describe this. It didn't have that dank and musty dive bar smell, but the floors were sticky. There wasn't really much ambiance, but there's a pretty cool patio. They have a cocktail menu that's pretty good. I asked for a Negroni and the bartender didn't really know how to make it. I don't think that's a hard cocktail, but maybe one that isn't ordered here often. The service was fine. The crowd was chill. read more
