Rebecca is leading me on a journey to do just that. She identified my core problems with food, mainly that I was prone to over-restricting (and therefore under-eating) with intermittent binges. After only a few sessions with Rebecca, I feel so much happier and healthier. Until Rebecca identified my emotional eating habits, I did not realize that I was using food to stifle difficult feelings. Now Rebecca is working with me to help me get in touch with my "intuitive eater." My only regret is that I did not have time for more sessions this summer, since I will be returning to school soon. But Rebecca has promised to stay in touch via email, Skype, and phone, and after only a week away she has stayed true to her promise. Rebecca can help you get to the bottom of your problems with food, and she will guide you in developing a lifestyle plan that works for you and your body. I really could not be happier with this experience.

I have since made several small tweaks to my eating and meal preparation that have paid big dividends. Linda has helped me focus on my meal planning, basics to have in my kitchen, and foods to avoid. In the past 4 years, I had gained 40+ lbs due to some special medicine I was taking (and probably some overeating of hamburgers too haha). I tried EVERYTHING to get rid of it. Juice cleanses, special diets, pills, multiple private trainers, you name it and I had done it. Unfortunately, nothing stuck. Knowing my wedding was just around the corner, I had to do something to get the weight off for good. I wanted to feel confident on my wedding day! I found Lindsay through a quick yelp search and was intrigued. Let's get this straight. This is not a special fad diet or some strict eating plan, its a way of life! Lindsay gives you the tools, skills, and mindset to make a long lasting change in your lifestyle. During the course of the 6 weeks, I lost 8+ lbs and now (more than 3 months later) I'm still continuing to lose weight by following what she taught me. I plan to be at my goal weight in the next 3 months (in time for my wedding!) And most importantly, I feel fantastic!!!!! I feel like a whole new person. What I appreciated the most was her accessibility. She would review menus of restaurants I was eating at or provide me with customized recommendations. When I was frustrated with results or what the scale said, she was non-judgmental and offered helpful advice for how to overcome cravings or emotional reactions. In fact, I was surprised (in a good way) by how much of the program was centered around mindfulness and balance. Even though the program only includes 4 sessions, I felt like I was in constant communication with Lindsay and she genuinely cared about my progress. She frequently sent email updates and checked in, and when I had questions, she was never more than a text away. I am excited to see continued progress. I would recommend Lindsay to anyone!

I already had a pretty healthy diet and am a regular exerciser, but at 40, my usual methods were not working. After working with Olga for 2 weeks, I've already lost 4 pounds. She taught me more about the science of nutrition, reviewed my daily food logs, and pointed out where my well-meaning efforts to eat clean were actually counterproductive. So I've been following her guidance, and it is working! I also appreciate that she is knowledgeable about vegetarianism (I have been a vegetarian for 30 years) and has helped me create an eating plan within my lifestyle preferences. Lastly, Olga not only has wonderful expertise about nutrition, but she helped me with digestion and blood sugar issues too. She has been reliable, responsive, on time, and detail oriented. She even helped me pick out what to eat from some restaurant menus when I was on vacation. She has been great overall and I have learned a lot in a short time.

This place has changed my life!! I started the IP protocol in June in preparation for my wedding…read morebut also just out of frustration in trying to lose weight. I've been overweight my whole life and was able to manage to lose 100lb through diet and exercise while in college and grad school. When I started working the weight came back and then some and I have been trying to lose it ever since. I've tried everything from an array of diets, expensive gyms, etc., all to no avail. Completely desperate, I skeptically attended an info session and ended up signing up. Within the first 3 months I lost 45lb!!!! Here are some thoughts on the different aspects: The Clinic: The clinic is in a little strip mall in the Palisades, probably the only complaint I have in this entire review is the location of the clinic. You either have to drive or take a rare bus, but luckily driving is an option for me. I do wish they had a downtown location though. The receptionist is friendly and really helpful! Alina is the coach I have been working with for the majority of my time on the protocol. She is AWESOME!!! She's encouraging and nice when she needs to be but will also lay down the law. I hope she doesn't mind me saying but she's on the Protocol as well and knows how it feels. She has great attention to detail and will pick up on little things in your food journal. She also gives her personal phone number and is available almost always to provide advice-- I've texted her in desperate moments or when I just need a quick answer and she always answers quickly. She really cares for the people she coaches and it shows in her work! I have seen a couple other coaches but they were lackluster in comparison to Alina. I'm sure they would be great in their own right but I've been spoiled. The Protocol: As part of the protocol you meet weekly with a coach. Your initial consultation is 30 minutes and you go through a series of information and baseline measurements. Subsequent check ins are 15 minutes and you go over your measurements, food journal, and any questions or issues. The clinic is really good and efficient with these. The protocol itself is pretty simple and you get a sheet of paper with all of your instructions. As long as you stick to the sheet you will lose weight. Simple as that! The hard part is dealing with social situations but eventually your find ways around it. No exercise is required and there's a period that you can't exercise when starting the program. I actually like working out so this was a bit difficult, but eventually you find what works for you. It is expensive but in the end you save because there are no incidental expenses like happy hours, starbucks, gum, snacks, etc. Besides the cost of the IP products you have to buy lean protein and veggies which can be done on a budget. In the end it works out and it's definitely work the weight you'll lose. I even quit my gym membership so ultimately my net spending on fitness and nutrition is not much different to what I was spending before. It does have a lot of restrictions but the results are fast! Understanding that this is temporary will take you a long way with motivation. In Phase 3 and 4 of the protocol you can have butter and toast! Something I never thought I would be able to have again! The other piece is finding your routines, it takes some time to get there but eventually you fall into a rhythm and it becomes almost mechanical. The Food: This is obviously subjective. I have a huge sweet tooth so this diet has ended up working well for me because on what other diet can you have a chocolate shake for breakfast, a rice crispy treat for lunch, and wafer cookies for snack and still lose weight?! (These are my 3 faves) When you start the program they give you a sampler supply that's supposed to get you through the first week and then some. You get to try a variety of product and you soon figure out which foods you gravitate toward. The biggest thing is keeping an open mind that first week-- there were some things I loved and some things I hated. Eventually you'll come up with some staples that will become your go tos. I like to experiment with a product I haven't tried every now and then. I personally am not a huge fan of the entrees and savory snacks but that's just me. The pancake mix make great waffles that taste like normal ones and the maple oatmeal tastes like quaker oats to me! In additional there are several Pinterest boards, websites, facebook groups, etc. that all have recipes for IP products. For boxes of stuff I didn't like, I've always been able to find a recipe to use it up. For example the potato puree made great bread rolls! I also have a chocolate mug cake almost every day! I know I did a lot of research before signing up so I hope this review gives enough information for someone teetering on the edge of a decision. I would highly recommend not only this program but this clinic to anyone!!!

Is there a way to give negative stars?…read more Staff does not communicate well with other employees or with patients. On the first night of my treatment (Monday) I had no idea where to go, I just followed other patients into the group room which I correctly assumed was where I needed to be. On Day 2 (Wednesday) I apparently missed an appointment with a nutritionist I was never told I had. I was simply given a large folder on my first night with a paper in it with an appointment time and was called while I was at work when I didn't show up. They seem to lack the basic understanding that to make an appointment with a client you need to first confirm with the patient that the time works for them. I was also never told that I could bring a support person with me on every Wednesday so when the time came and everyone's support person arrived I was furious with the lack of communication. All patients are expected to complete 100% of their meal regardless if restricting is their issue or not. You cannot even leave 2 bites or you will be forced to drink a nutritional supplement drink (because apparently according to the fake, walking-text-book, fresh out of college employees a boost drink is equivalent to 3 slices of green pepper) God forbid you learn to sense when you are full and stop eating!! All patients are treated as if they have the same disorder. They lump everyone (restrictors, bingers, purgers) ages 14 and up together as many as 20 girls per night in the same treatment group. I don't know how they can get away with that seeing as how from a social work stand point treating adults and treating children is very different. Adults would hold back what they want to say in group with children around and often tune out during group because of the silliness of the younger girls. When I mentioned I didn't think it was a good fit, instead of it opening a conversation on how they could help me with my issues, they were all too happy to agree and kick me out. When they called to ask if I'd be returning it seemed less like a phone call of concern than it did a business necessity to see if they could replace me with someone as soon as possible to keep their income rolling in. After I left, or more accurately was asked to leave, I read many reviews online and noticed their reputation has declined over the years and if you are considering Renfew I highly recommend both this blog article http://middlegroundmusings.com/the-documentary-thin-and-the-treatment-loophole/ *and* the film "THIN" ( which is available on Youtube) both of which talk about the TREATMENT LOOPHOLE at Renfrew: "This loophole appears when the staff and therapists become too tangled in policies and procedures to notice the patients slipping through. It is the gap between stringent adherence to rules and a respect for the complex human being whom these rules are meant to serve." The loophole is the backdoor which they show too many ill women through if they don't think the women will be successful. Ultimately, they only care about making money and maintaining a high success rate. Women they find in the least bit difficult to help they give up on and show out the back door to prevent a drop in their cooked book success stats and decrease in revenue.

What it lacks in comparison to a larger gym, it makes up for both in focus (e.g, squats, bench press, deadlifts) and expertise (e.g., squat shoes, professional grade equipment). 2) The atmosphere: Upon arrival at the studio, I am reminded of the TV show "Cheers", where one is greeted with warm hello's and welcomes. Everybody knows your name. Also noteworthy - the other guests at the studio are of all ages and capabilities. I recall a moment where everyone stopped their own routines to cheer on a 60 year old woman as she hit her personal best in a deadlift. I had a cheering section as I struggled with a push-up challenge. It is a warm, inclusive and supportive environment. 3) The expertise: Kevin and the team have a methodical, evidence based approach to building strength and technique. He, along with Elliot, Erik and others, have helped me see the finer points of how to lift safely. Rather than piling on the plates, they make me earn the weight with good technique. We progressed through body weight and kettle bells, onto dumbbells and then Olympic bars, only advancing once I demonstrated proficiency with the technique. In addition, I engaged Ari to help me reflect on my nutrition goals and how to integrate my diet with my weight lifting. All of the staff are available online, which helps when I'm traveling. I would encourage anyone to visit TFN and take a few sessions. They effectively blend professionalism, expertise, and warmth; I am excited about my progress in a short period of time and hope you will experience the same.
