She asks all the right questions and actually listens and reflects on not only what the parents have to say but especially what the child has to say. It is a hard decision to medicate a child, and Dr. Fuertes takes parents' concerns very seriously. But the reality is a low dose of a medication can go a long way in helping alleviate the symptoms of a child and greatly improve their lives and those around them. The only two issues that I have had with USFHP were when a doctor ordered something other than "normal" medicine, i.e., medicine that is a custom-made formulation. USFHP required that I try "normal" prescriptions before approving any custom-made formulation. In both situations, I had already been through those procedures, and neither helped. I documented the procedures; however, USFHP still refused to grant the custom-made formulations. I paid out of pocket in both situations, and the custom-made formulations worked. I then asked for a refund of my costs, but USFHP refused to reimburse me. Both of these situiations were years (15 + years) ago.

I contacted Johns Hopkins and they gave me an E:Mail address to send in an appeal, which I did. Only to later receive another note indicating my wife had to send the appeal. And on top of that, they didn't want us to use the E:Mail address they provided. After several back and forth, they denied the appeal as it was outside the time limit for appeals. Apparently, we are supposed to review the Explanation of Benefits and know what is wrong, although I don't know how, so we can submit an appeal within their time limits. This is the most insidious business practice I have ever experienced. Don't walk away from Johns Hopkins, RUN!!!!! Far and fast!!!!

The new owners are in trouble; they have zero regard for the people who use their services and their doctors. They have no time or respect for patients who call or visit their office for help. They don't tell the patient or the doctors that they are making changes. I love my doctor, but I hate this office. If it weren't for my insurance, I wouldn't use it.

Management can't seem to get their stuff together- won't answer calls or email- you gotta show up in person, except that none of the psychiatrists of therapists work in office so you still have to wait around until someone can get a hold of said doctor so you can get your head meds. For being a clinic that deals with people whom are generally in distress they sure are aggravating.

I did not know that meant FIVE POLICE OFFICERS would also show up. My neighbors now know I had a crisis, thanks Grassroots. I also was told, repeatedly, that if I did what the team wanted me to do - go to Sheppard Pratt for an evaluation - I'd not be charged more than $25. I signed a release at the facility agreeing to pay about that amount. In tiny print above the signature line it says provider charges will be billed seperately. No money. That was what I told these people over and over, I have no money to get therapy or any other kind of help. Now, I have over $200 in bills to pay. If I ever feel like I need help again, I'll just disappear into the woods and let Nature run it's course. What a joke of an operation and I think it's paid for with our tax dollars.
