Laura does not typically use traditional modalities when she does her magic. Her main modality with me has been myofascial release. She trained with John Barnes, who I believe is the best in his field. She is also well versed in cranial sacral therapy and is skilled in identifying and fixing muscle compensation patterns. Laura's approach is intelligent and thoughtful. What I love about her is while she works on you, she talks about the muscles and their relationships. I've learned so much since I started seeing her. She is also an athlete (a black belt in Tai Kwon Do), so we can also have intelligent discussions about types of workouts that are best for me. Laura's healing space is wonderful. Hypnosis was something I have never done before, but always wanted to try. I have learned in my personal studies that much of our inner healing takes place when we are silent and still. I find that silence to be very healing - even though it's hard sometimes to be still and silent for longer than 5 minutes for someone as restless as me. I have learned how to better meditate and visualize whatever results I want. I have also learned how to focus more on gratitude and less on fear-based thought patterns and behaviors. My primary PT, Nnamdi, has been great to work with, responsive to my changing needs and a funny and motivating guy in general. The chiropractor, Dr Bazley, has also played a role in my recovery as needed. The front office staff is super friendly and easy to work with regarding scheduling and any health insurance concerns. The office seems to have recently opened so everything is up to date and modern including their scheduling and billing system which helpfully sends a reminder text the day before my appt and also emails me the receipt for my co-pay. There's plenty of parking in the area and it is a very convenient location for me, a NE DC resident. Im almost done with my PT and will miss their motivation but they've helped me build both the muscle and confidence I need to maintain a healthy post surgery back.
