This place definately needs a good first review, so I'll try my best to do an english one. We went here by chance, becaus the place is located in a quiet offside walking street, where you can sit down without having hordes of people running over your table.
We ate at a quite unusal time for spanish habits, 12 o'clock at noon, so we kind of had the impression to disturb the service lady, she was OK but not the friendliest one. First of all we were thirsty from walking around in the andalucian sun, so we were glad to get a bottle of sparkling water with ice and lemon slices. It's the little things, that make you happy while almost dieing of thirst.
We ordered two tapas dishes each. I had some grilled artichokes and a filled avocado, my partner-in-crime headet for some meatballs and a spanish potatoe salad. Something hot, something cool for each of us.
The presentation of the dishes were modern and quite attractive, different from the old fashioned tapas bars, which of course have their own charme as well. The furniture withe the mixed chairs and the stylish overhead lights was also very trendy but cosy as well. You can look at Uwe V.s pictures, he's the photographer, I am the writer.
Coming to the most importatnt thing - the taste: The artichokes were good, the avocado was really delicious and very refreshing on a hot day. It was served with some cocktail sauce which is completely different from what we call cocktail sauce in germany - basically ketchup mixed with mayonaise- I don't like that, but I liked the spanish one. My companion had some meatballs, diffrent from the albondigas we know from german tapas places but praised by my partner to be really good and the best potatoe salad I ever tried. I'm not the biggest popatoe fan in the world and would normally never order a potatoe salad myself, but what I tasted from the oppostite plate made me change my mind. The salad was dressed with a light mayonaise-based sauce and contained fish, I'm quite sure it was tuna, and maybe also salmon, not sure about that.
We literally came backe once more because of the potatoe salad (called ensalada rusa - russian salad). Apart from that, my companion had a tapas portion of solomillo, a pork tenderloin, with whiskey sauce. The sauce basically constints of brew and oil flavoured with whiskey, an unusual type of sauce for us. He already had it in another place and was not-so-enthusiastic, but this time we both considered it good. I also ordered a glass of gazpaco, iced vegetable soup, my favourite sevillan "cocktail".It was good, I bet it will be good at any place in Sevilla.
This time the waiter, a young arabian looking guy, was friendly and very attentive, also he had some trouble scaring away a pigeon by sprinkeling water on her, quite amusing to watch, pigeon didn't want to leave at all, he seemend it here as well. Food and drinks are pricy, around 4€ for a tapa, 1,70€ for a 0.5 litre water and about the same for a small beer.
We highly recommend this place for some tasty tapas in a pleasant environmemt. read more
