Fantastic Service!…read more Mark Matthews, Master Mechanic helped me change a tire in the parking lot of a Royal Oak convenience store. I had a sidewall blowout and was able to park safely, and had one of the (ridiculously overtightened) lugs loose when he came upon me and offered to give me a hand. We traded off getting the lugs loose and he helped me get back on the road in less than 10 minutes. Let's be clear: I don't know Mark. I'm not a regular customer of his. I'm a total stranger that he ran into on the street and he was kind enough to help. Keep that in mind the next time you need a good mechanic. Highly recommended!

After my check engine light came on, I initially took it to the dealership on Rochester Road since I've worked with them before. After being told the repairs were going to be $1300, I came here to get them done since I find that to be upsurd. (please note, stealership is good for oil changes, and the dudes that work there, as everyone knows, are heartless and obviously gouge you. I'm no dummy.) I spent a lot of time speaking to Karly and she was awesome to work with. I mean, the whole staff here is awesome, but she was my main point of contact. She ran some diagnostics on the car (way quicker than the dealership, obviously) and confirmed what needed to be fixed to get the car back out on the road, and what could wait. It lowered my price down to $887, beating the dealership by about $450. (that's not a typo.) Besides the pricing, the staff here is WAY better, and I get a lot more bang for my buck. Free rentals, way nicer staff, and an all around easier experience. I am coming back here for more service in the future, as I was beyond pleased with my experience. I wish more shops ran like this, and it makes the process way less painful. I cannot thank South Street enough for everything. They were professional in every way, and I encourage you to give them your business. My mom and I will be back, and we couldn't be happier.

He was friendly. I told him what my brother said about the car. My brother is a retired mechanic. He told me that the car needed shocks, struts, wheel rotation and alignment. Mike called after the inspection and told me I needed $6200 worth of work! The car is a 2011. That's more than the car is worth and I told Mike that. I explained that I didn't have that kind of money and needed to keep it under $2000. He said ok and refigured it so he was only doing what I had asked and said he would bring it in way under what he had quoted me in July which was $1890, like in the neighborhood of $1818. His words, not mine. When I picked up my car I scanned the receipt. I didn't see that he didn't do the wheel rotation or alignment! It came in JUST under the quote BUT he hadn't done all that he quoted me and AGREED to the day before! So FIRST he tried to RIP ME OFF FOR A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY and then he didn't do the work that he had agreed to! I don't know. Call me crazy, but in my book that's a business you WARN people about and NEVER GO BACK TO.

They treat you kindly, and with respect, and I can't complain about the big comfy couch in the waiting area. The customer napping in the waiting area told us that she has been a loyal customer for 22 years. That really says something in these days of swindling and crooked auto shops. After a recent tie rod installation, we felt that the Altima needed a front wheel alignment. When they saw that it didn't need one, they only charged us a small diagnostic fee and were honest in telling us that no alignment was needed. Many shops out there would have just done the alignment and charged us, or worse, exploited the already optimal alignment and act as if they aligned it since we requested one be done. We decided to put the diagnostic fee towards replacing the old and worn drive belt anyway, which also was a fair price. There may be some shops that are cheaper than Master Auto, but the cool thing about this place is that the folks really know what they're doing and they're honest people. They won't recommend you to do anything the car doesn't need. I would rather pay a middle of the road rate with a high caliber and honest shop, rather than be woo'ed by cheap shops that will falsify a laundry list of issues and scam you of hard earned money! We will definitely be returning to Master Auto for our vehicular needs! This is a great dealership replacement shop.
