In that price he also promised that he will do diagnosis of P0524 code, which he did but absolutely wrong way. He removed the oil pressure valve and cleaned it and put it back since he could not find the new part in the area which is fine but it was not valve it was just oil pressure sensor. Any simple mechanic would first try to find oil pressure sensor not the valve its different thing. And Yes he took it back that new oil and filter with him and never changed. I thought he will charge me less since he said i dont need to have new oil and change because it was good. I was predicting he is trying to save my money by not having oil and filter because the issue is something else but guess what?? i was wrong. After he finished diagnosis told me it will be $300 ( he barely spent one hour ), I called him in regular hour not afterhours like midnight or early morning. I would strongly suggest please find another mechanic if you get stranded dont use his service. Money minded greedy person. Since i dont want to argue with him on that day i quitly paid $300, he just cleared the code thought he actually made fix but i was wrong, check engine light came back as soon as we hit mountain. I checked with other local shop in Redding CA and he was able to figure out actual issue, he did diagnosis and changed the oil pressure sensor very reasonable price and car was fixed. again dont go by his fake google reviews, think before anyone contact him. Has no shame getting your money.

Before going in, I thought: this might be my new go to mechanic and I wanted to keep business local. My window is fixed- so thank you. But, will not be going back.

I knew it was a long shot that someone could squeeze me in that day but I decided to give them a shot after everyone else was all booked up. When I walked in and asked if they could change out my shocks the person behind the counter said he couldn't today, I told him I understood and started to walk out and be about my way. The guy behind the counter then decided to take a shot at me and said "Maybe next time try scheduling an appointment." I know slick talk when I hear it, so I turned around and explained that I was just in the area and needed to see if they could swap them out fast like. I wasn't even done explaining myself before the person behind the desk dodged his eyes from mine and continued to talk over/down to me while I was explaining myself. So I left and laughed it off but every time I'm in that area I can't help but remember the feeling I had when I left. Just felt unwelcome and like a bother. Not a very good first impression at all. I had triple A tow my car to Star on 10/27/25. I gave them a call in advance and let them know I would be sending it there and stated what had happened. For full context, I was exiting the free way in central point there was a small box in the middle of the road and I had not choice but to slow down and go over it. My car being an Alfa Romeo Giulia sits low and something was pulled out of the bottom of my car and it immediately lost all power steering. I was able to pull to the side at the very end of the ramp. No body damage at all, car was still drivable but no power steering. The tow truck drivers were able to drive it into the flatbed themselves. Zach from Star automotive s initial quote 10/27/25 totaled $10,054.53. See pic and note Quote 1. (This quote will dramatically change once insurance adjuster is involved) 4 quotes later, 2 subcontracted dealerships, a broken fuel module that made my car completely underivable, and no answers from Zach or Austin about what happened. The insurance claims adjuster, the service manager in Portland and the technicians all agree in writing that my car was not drivable when it was brought in and that someone clearly damaged the fuel module brought the car in with zero fuel, and then tried to cover it up ...the technician stated "it was hanging off when I saw it". Zach blamed this entire incident on a recall. Once again in writing the alfa Romeo dealership states this was not possible. I did not accuse Zach or Star right away when I was presented with all the evidence and facts...I called Zach and sent him the email from the service manager who he spoke with and checked my car in with. I simply wanted an answer, and a solution to this issue. It's Friday 4:47pm 2/27/26 my car is 246 miles away one way. The additional cost is $1113.31. I just wanted my car back. When I went down to Star after my phone call with Zach to simply discuss this in person...they said Paul is on vacation and that there was nothing they could do for me. I said I wanted to believe Zach wouldn't take advantage of me knowing how hard things were already finically ....Austin and Zach made many excuses that were not only unreasonable and impractical explanations for this incident but Austin then proceeded to yell at me and threatened to call the police on me. To the owner Paul...I know you are not aware of any of this, and from one business owner to another I am truly sorry this is what your employees are doing behind your back representing your business. I could have chosen a statefarm preferred shop, but due to my past experiences with Star, Dave specifically when he was there I chose your shop. Paul please contact me regarding this matter. I was up visiting in grants pass when all of a sudden, a terrible noise was coming from the front right of my engine bay. Not knowing the exact cause, had my suv towed into Tom's early on a Monday. By Monday afternoon they knew what was wrong, had the part is stock and could get me back on the road by end of the next day. They were even complete early and upon pickup, the tech showed me the broken fan from the radiator fan assembly that was basically wobbling away making quite the ruckus. I am so thankful that Tom's was helpful, knowledgeable and quick. They did come highly recommended by some friends so I'm glad I trusted them. If needed, will definitely take vehicles back to Tom's.
