Great service but no real good sales or value. Lowes was a far superior store. Home depot offer better quality items for sure.

Lowes itself has been fine but do NOT get SCAMMED into buying a warranty with COMERCO. They are a bunch of scammers! They have a rating of F with the Better Business Bureau!! Read the reviews of the product you are purchasing and seek an external form of insurance/warranty. COMERCO are thieves!! Lowes needs to reconsider their partnership with this terrible company. This is my favourite home improvement store in the area. Selection is very good, which for me elevates it above home depot when I'm shopping for fixtures, appliances, light switches, etc. Home Depot still wins for tools and lumber, in my opinion. I really want to like Lowes. I really really do... This Lowes location is the closest hardware store to my home, so when I need to pop out and quickly get something, this is my go-to location. I've had very mixed experiences going to this location though, especially compared to their Oshawa location. I can never, ever find a person available to tell me where to find something. I'll walk up and down the store, looking for a specific section or item and after walking the store twice, I'm usually searching for someone. The only place I can ever find an available associate is in the plywood/drywall section. The guys here are nice and helpful but they're almost always standing around chatting at the back of the store and I have to interrupt to get help. I've also found that some of the people that work here can be snotty. I went in to buy some specific hardware that I needed to build my own headboard (I was following a tutorial online and they had suggested a very specific part and I knew they had the part) in the nuts and bolts section and after talking with the guy there, I did get what I wanted, but he made me feel like I was a bit of an idiot or that I didn't know what I was doing. The part I got was the right part but the conversation wasn't super helpful or positive. I went in looking for a little bench type deal for my front hallway, to hold some shoes and be a place to sit when you need to lace up your boots or shoes, and there were signs printed by the store noting "20% off all organization & closetmaid" (something like that). I was buying something that was eligible for the discount and according to their website, the prices matched. When I went to the cash, the lady gave me a super hard time about the discount. I told her there were signs and she sent someone to check and then had to get the flyer out to check for herself (which is fine). When I mentioned the website price, she told me that Lowes does NOT price match THEIR OWN WEBSITE. Which is bloody ridiculous. The prices were the same anyways, but I got such a hard time from her, I left with a bad taste in my mouth. She's a regular worker there so I avoid her register if she's working. Overall, this place is okay. I dislike the layout of the entire store - I find myself going from one end to the other if I have to pick up more than one item and nowhere do they have baskets to grab to hold things and no one is offering to help me when my hands are full. I would spend a lot more money here if it was better organized and laid out and the customer service was up to snuff. The greeters at the exit aren't very friendly or nice and you can tell their "goodbye have a nice day" is out of obligation, not because they care. read more

I purchased a utility trailer online for store pick up. Twice the store gave me incomplete paperwork to get a plate the dmv. Ended up being a four exercise making three trips to dmv. An emailed complaint got me a promise of an explanation from a store manager. It never came. Good thing I had a half day to waste on Lowes incompetence. read more

Went to lowes in Whitby to purchase a load of timber but was advised they no longer rent vehicles for the customer to take their purchases home also the service of cutting wood was no available what ever happened to the good service they supplied years ago. In September, I visited the building supplies department of the store in Whitby as I needed to purchase materials to do a minor renovation in my home. I met with Mirtza, an employee in the department who was extremely helpful. He explained what I needed to do to get the best results in the work to be done. The work is now completed and the results have been fantastic. This was because Mirtza took the time to provide helpful information which I otherwise would not have known. Worse store service ever, I agree that there is never anybody around to help you. We are involved in DYI kitchen renovation. But husband decided to splurge on counter top and we decided on Lowes. Elizabeth in the kitchen area is a wonderful and knowledgable employee, and we can't say enough about her customer service ethics. We ordered a granite counter top, and we're told to called York Fabrication to set up an appointment to view slabs and select one. York Fab. had our order on Oct. 16. I called York on the 17th and left a message, for Stella. York calls back on the 18, stating that Peacock slab we ordered is not at their plant yet, but should be in by the next Wed. Oct 25th. She will call to set up viewing as soon as it arrives. I am given Stella's direct line. (I have abdominal surgery Oct 23). Wed. Oct. 25, mid afternoon I call Stella, slab still not in (7 business days now), haven't viewed slab. Refers me to Haman (York Fabrication, Lowes rep), he said he sent email out on 16th to supplier in New Jersey, and has not had a reply as yet. He will send another email today. Haman then gave me his direct number, and said to deal directly with him. He tried to talk us out of Peacock granite, and said he'd let us come in a view other coloured slabs. I said I'd discuss with husband and Lowes and get back to him. So on the 25th my husband and I went to see Elizabeth at Lowes, we still liked the Peacock sample Lowes had on display. But we decided to take a few other browns home and check them out , as York still hadn't heard from the New Jersey supplier. When Elizabeth gave us the Peacock sample it had tons of green in it, but the one on the display wall was totally brown. Once home we finally we decided to go with an Antique Brown colour instead. Oct. 26, I called Stella at York Fabrication twice and left 2 messages. Finally late in the day Stella called me back. We set up a day and appt time, to go to Toronto (Keele and Lawrence area), to view slab, Tuesday, October 31, 1 pm. On Oct. 31, and although, I'm in pain from surgery, and on pain killers to make this trip, we arrive at York Fabrication, we are there at 10 mins to 1 pm. We are told Stella has just left for lunch. (ARE YOU KIDDING ME). We wait over 1/2 hr, I'm just about passed out by now and sitting in freezing waiting room, finally Stella shows up, takes us to the back and instead of letting us select a slab, she already has one pulled out.... its the only one we see, so given no choice, and after viewing it, we agree to slab. Stella indicates 10 working days, I reminded her initial work was suppose to start Nov 6, and be completed by Nov 10, and the delay here is no fault of ours as we were not told that York could not get the Peacock slab until 10 days after order. (Also, Haman's second email on Oct. 25th, to New Jersey supplier had not received response by Oct. 31st). Stella said she would put a rush on order. On Wed. Nov. 8, 6 business days. I still have not heard from Stella on the "rush" install date. I called York fabrication 3 times, twice I could not even connect to their main #, or Stella's diecrt line. So I called Haman (the rep), LM. Finally Haman calls and said he would shoot for install Friday Nov 10 between 1-4 pm. Friday Nov. 10, husband takes day off work and we remove all counters and plumbing and shut off kitchen water (as we had decided it was not worth paying York fabrication over $1000, to do it). At 2:45 pm Haman from York calls and said they broke slab in two places while loading into transport truck (are you kidding, these ppl do this everyday, this is their business). Wow! I'm angry. All counters gone, no water, rest of kitchen renovation on hold waiting for installation. Haman promises Monday morning. Then Lowes call, and they state, No, it will be Tuesday morning between 9-11 am. We reinstall one of our removed counters and hook up water again to get thru weekend. Monday Nov. 13, at 8:30 am I call Stella to confirm install is for Tuesday (not Monday) between 9-11 am. Stella confirms this. 9:15 am Stella calls back, stating she was away when Haman and Lowes agreed to Tuesday between 9-11 am, and there is a conflict for the installer, so she now states it will be between 1-4 pm, unless I'm willing to wait til Wednesday or Thursday. Do I have a choice, have we ever had a choice, don't think so, does York care that they are showing a display item at Lowes that they can't deliver on, does Lowes care? Don't think so. Does York or Lowes care that now we have never seen the slab or ok'd the slab that they are now installing? Don't think so, and if we are unhappy with the slab, what is our recourse? Does York or Lowes care that my husband lost two days from work, and that they have not stood by any of their products or delivery promises, don't think so. I will NEVER go to Lowe's again for any reason. Both the Whitby and Oshawa stores have THE worst customer service I have ever experienced. I was spoke down to and made to feel like my business meant nothing to them. They have signs that say they price match anything....what they neglect to tell you is they WILL NOT price match their own prices online. We were told a certain pantry we wanted to buy was in the Oshawa store but when we got to the Oshawa store we were basically laughed at for even assuming they had this cabinet. The Oshawa store manager Brad refuses to help customers in anyway when your complaining about the treatment you receive from his employees dismissing it as "everyone has bad days". My brother and sister in law were kicked out of the store for trying to use her Indian status card. The manager claims that because they are an "American company" they have never had to do a tax exemption....so kicking then out was his only option???? After a call to head office and numerous complaints about both stores no one was willing to do anything to make us happy so I decided to warn people about the horrible treatment my family received. Please......if you can avoid using lowes....do it. No one deserves to be treated in this manner. It's disgusting. read more

I have had poor customer service at Lowes Whitby in the past but the latest incident makes me question if I will continue ever being a customer at this store again. Purchased an electric lawn mower late last summer. Perhaps used it twice last year and once this year and the mower stopped working. Unfortunately I had misplaced my receipt but attempted to return to the store for a replacement. I have done this in the past at other large box store and there has never been an issue about having your receipt if the product is obviously faulty. I wasn't looking for a refund, only a product that functioned. Was informed by Lowes Whitby that they could not help as I did not have the receipt and I would have to deal with the manufacturer of the product regarding any problems. No other assistance was offered. Unsure if this is a Lowes policy or a Whitby only policy as customer service at the Oshawa store always seems improved. My wife and I purchsed a toilet from here that our contractor later told us was too large for our bathroom. We tried to simply exchange the toilet for another smaller probably more expensive one. Alex, the manager, refused to allow us to exchange the toilet as we were just outside the warranty. We were also planning on purchasing additional bathroom appliances from here to complete our renovation, but given the customer service we will be going elsewhere with our business. I recently bought my new kitchen through Lowes in Whitby. I had reservations about doing so, because of the fact that any time I visit the store, it is under-staffed and takes way too long to get assistance. I also visited the store 3 times before being able to get someone to assist me with ordering the kitchen. So.....I ordered in stock cabinets, countertops, sink, tile and fixtures. The sink was dented and had to be returned. Some of the cabinets were damaged, and the countertops were almost completely unusable because they were so badly damaged. I had to take a day off work to return the countertops, at which time I ordered customer laminate counters. I was told it would take 3 weeks to receive them. I received a call that they were ready, but they couldn't be delivered for one week. Ok...so I took the Friday off to be home, but received a call the day before that 2 of the 4 pieces were damaged and they would have to reorder. Another week goes by, and I am told that again they would be delivered on Friday....took the day off work....was told the day before that they were damaged again and it would be another week. Would love to tell you that the following Friday I received my counters, but got a call the morning of that Friday that they were damaged again (I had made arrangements for my contractor to take delivery). I am 7-8 weeks in at this point and still no countertops. Hadn't complained to corporate until this point.....all they did was tell me that it isn't Lowes fault....it is the company that they use to look after the countertops!!!! I'm sorry....if I order a kitchen from Lowes....it is Lowes problem if I don't get good service. Don't blame other companies!! Worst thing they could have said to me. Then when I asked for compensation, they went on to say that the other company has to figure out how to compensate me. I didn't even get a follow up call 2 days later....I had to call today and the Lowes manager told me she was too busy yesterday to follow up but she would get in contact with the company today!!
