I went to Ace to try and find out which screws I would need to put the front plate on. When I arrived the very nice older gentleman asked how he could help me. I told him and he said that he wanted to come out to the lot and look at my car. He went back in and grabbed a couple of screws along with a screw driver. When I went to the register I told her that I owed her $5. After she had rung me up and I signed the receipt I told her to give that guy the $5 as it was only supposed to be $.50. Located in a shopping plaza at the corner of Frenchtown and Post roads, this Ace Hardware store…read moreoccupies a space that housed a supermarket years ago. With lots of room to work with, this hardware store boasts a wide variety of departments, and an impressive selection within each department. Earlier this week, I had to install a urinal at a nearby fire station, and ran into an unexpected problem that required a trip to the nearest hardware store. I was greeted as soon as I walked into the store, and directed to the proper aisles, and found everything I needed to finish my job. Their aisle of fasteners is truly a wonder (kind of like a Superman's Cave for handymen), and includes a section of chrome-plated fasteners, which would be a great resource if you are working on a motorcycle or custom car. Being a plumber, I also had to peruse the plumbing section, and was greatly impressed at the variety of fittings that even a plumbing supply store wouldn't carry. They also sell common sizes of water and drainage pipe, as well as hoses, tubing and wire. Since Sears closed at the Rhode Island Mall, Ace hardware stores are now the only places locally to buy Craftsman tools. Employees I encountered were hardworking and pleasant. There is plenty of parking in the plaza's huge lot (just be careful, as cars tend to zoom to and fro from all directions). Indeed, I could find no reason to detract from a 5-star rating (okay, so they have some black tire marks on their floor, but that's not reason enough - it's a hardware store, after all!).
