I finally got around to getting Rhodie license plates for our car. Our last state of residence did not require front plates (or at least we didn't put one on), so we didn't have the front plate holder up. I went to Ace to try and find out which screws I would need to put the front plate on. When I arrived the very nice older gentleman asked how he could help me. I told him and he said that he wanted to come out to the lot and look at my car. He went back in and grabbed a couple of screws along with a screw driver. He took my plate from me and started screwing the plate in for me. When he was done he said, tell the lady at the register that you owe her $.50. When I went to the register I told her that I owed her $5. After she had rung me up and I signed the receipt I told her to give that guy the $5 as it was only supposed to be $.50. She said that she would do that immediately! What a great group of people. You would never see anything like that at Home Depot! read more

**horrible customer service** ***refund policy is pathetic** ordered scotts fertilizer on the web for pickup at this location. web said it will be ready in 15 minutes. when i arrived at the store, the manager informed me their inventory was wrong and product will arrive in five days, this coming wednesday. i decided to cancel the-order and receive my refund, but was told because the item has shipped to the store they can't refund me until it arrives, which isn't for almost a week. called corporate office and was told the same story. their refund policy is by dar the worst i've ever heard of. beware!!! read more

We have to be realistic - there are plusses and minuses here. On the plus side. - It's local. I prefer to keep the $$ local. - It's not a big-box, If you just need a simple item, you can be out in 25% of the time you will spend at Lowes or Home depot. - most of the time you can get someone to take you to the right aisle in less than 60 seconds, whereas a big box you might wander around for 10-15 minutes just to find someone to say, "If you don't see it, we probably don't have it" Grrr The negative side... - Prices are out of line (double?) there on almost everything they carry. I don't go if the item is likely to be more than $5.00. Frankly, that is a major problem in Barrington. - They often don't have items in stock that the Ace Hardware in Seekonk or Bristol have on the shelf - pays to check online before you drive to the store. read more

While it is ACE hardware, it's the closest thing to an old fashioned mom and pop hardware store in the area. Unlike the big box stores, at ACE hardware they will go out of their way to help you find what you need. Even if it requires them to go down into the basement to search for the "out of season" pool shock. Thank you so much!!!!! read more

Ok, so after countless trips to Center Ace hardware over the last 6 months, I've just got to face the facts and fess up. It's not that great. Maybe it was beginner's luck at first but over time, it seems that my experiences at Center Ace have just kept going down hill. First, it's not being able to get everything on my list...there's always 1 or 2 important items they don't carry. Then it was the prices. A few things that cost a buck or two more is fine. But at this point, I'm averaging $2-4 more on every item than if I went to the big box store. Now, the customer service. They are friendly (most of the time) and seem to really want to help but in the end, I've learned to just say I don't need help because no one has ever really given me any useful advice. Also, a semi-fiasco with paint. 45 minutes to have 2 quarts of paint mixed. A staff member was inexperienced about having a paint mixed a certain way, took an attitude with me when I tried to further explain what I wanted (I KNEW I wasn't crazy and that he was misinformed). And after all that was said and done, he had wrongly advised me on how much paint I needed for my project so I ran out half way through. If there wasn't another Ace 15 minutes down the road, I'd probably keep suffering through Center Ace but luckily, I have an alternative AND the other guys don't close at 3pm on Sunday! read more

They certainly have everything for a smaller hardware store and have extremely helpful staff. The owner definitely takes great pride and care in the store and stocks many local products as well I have been coming here for over 3 years and will continue to come here from time to time. BUT my biggest gripe is that they are extremely expensive compared to the big box stores. Now I completely understand that they cannot compete on the same price level as big box stores but the majority of their products are 40-60% higher which is simply too high. My message to the owner is that you have a wonderful store and staff, but PLEASE lower your prices to a more acceptable range like 15-25% higher markup. read more

Everyone at Ace is so friendly. We just moved in to town and I've made several trips. Each time I am immediately greeted and asked how to help me. A good alternative to home depot/lowes. They do not have everything, but come pretty close. The paint selection is also quite good and the prices are reasonable. The staff is more knowledgeable than your average home depot/lowes person also. read more

Disappointing experience today. I've always chosen to spend my money at this local business instead of going to the big box retailers. They always had great customer service. Today I was blindsided by their lack of concern. I purchased a product and upon opening it at home, I found it was damaged. When I tried to exchange it, they told me it was against their policy to take it back because it was opened. Of course I couldn't see the damage until it was opened. So, now I'm stuck in a situation where the retailer doesn't want to stand by a product they sold and would rather blame me for the situation. Based on how I was treated, I unfortunately will have to take my business to Lowe's and Home Depot in Seekonk. After 9+ years of patronage, I don't feel welcome at Ace any longer. read more

Pros: +Kind Employees +Fairly decent inventory Cons: -Sometimes, the employees aren't terribly helpful. -As kind as they are, the owners are very religious and refuse to have their store open on Sundays. It's archaic and beyond irritating. What's worse is that their Yelp page does not reflect this. The first time I had to go on a Sunday, I looked it up, and assumed that they were open. When I arrived, I was disappointed to learn that they were closed. I asked them about it later in the week, and they said that it was the Lord's Day. While religion can be an excellent source of culture, as well as a community cornerstone, it has no place in the service industry. read more

This is a great store. The employees provide fantastic customer service. The store may be smaller than a Home Depot, but trust me, they manage to carry just about anything in there! This store is very organized and clean. Ample parking. I will be coming back for future home improvement projects. read more
