We made our selection, and w/in the 48hr return/exchange period we gifted the chainsaw which was determined to need an upgrade. Alan, in his second encounter w/ this sale, smoothly guided my husband & I w/ the return & purchase of the larger saw. He then went thru the full "pre-check" process, including battery check & a full chainsaw fire-up outside in front of the store. Service above and beyond! We'll register it & verify the battery takes a full charge and we're good to go! Alan is why I shop at Lowe's ... a valued associate! The price at the register rang up differently than what was clearly posted on the shelf. I asked staff about the discrepancy, and they confirmed the higher price over the radio. I asked if I could go back to verify the sticker myself since I was very sure, and that's when I caught an employee actively changing the price tag mid-dispute. I took pictures as it happened. When I returned to the register and told them what I witnessed, I overheard the staff member radio the manager to verify. His response? "Yeah, that's the price" as if it had always been that way. Had I not seen them changing it with my own eyes, I would have been gaslit into thinking I misread it. Staff who had clearly more common sense and ethics questioned the manager, "If they got it, shouldn't we honor the originally posted price?" The manager refused. Started to visit Lowe's not just Home depot and while both have many of the same things, they have theit own brands such as fans. I do find more staff at Home Depot to help out. But then at Lowe's there are always staff to help bring out heavy items to your vehicle. Went Black Friday to look for fans but no help so just bought on Amazon. I wish I could give 0 stars. Carpet purchase and installation was a complete nightmare. So difficult to get someone to help us purchase. After we were able to fight to buy from them, we went through multiple rounds of Lowe's ordering the incorrect carpet and trying to install. 2 months later the service pros they use keep telling us a certain time, only to not show up at that time. We'll see if they ever do! Never buy carpet or anything that needs to be installed from Lowe's. Go anywhere else. read more

Overall, I enjoy going to this Lowe's location, as well as, the Home Depot in South Riding. I'm no longer a Lowes customer after their most recent screw up. I bought a new refrigerator with warranty plan in the store on September 2. (for $2,455.21) We arranged for a delivery to our home on September 20th, which was the soonest they could deliver it. (To be in town to receive it my wife and I had to cut our 37 wedding anniversary celebration trip short so we could be home.) I spent a good part of the evening of the 19th cleaning out the old frig to get it ready for the delivery crew to take it away when they delivered the new one, the following day, and moved all the food into one of three coolers or the small drink refrigerator in the garage. When I ordered the replacement refrigerator, we set up a time of 8AM-noon for it to be delivered. When I hadn't received any confirmation or time estimate when the new one would be delivered by the evening of September 19th, I called the store to make sure everything was on track. The person I talked to said the delivery time frame had been rescheduled to 10am to 2PM. While not ideal, it wasn't a total disappointment. So, I sat in the house all day long waiting. When no one had showed by 2:40, I called the store to find out what was happening. Then they told me I had been scheduled for delivery on the 26th between 8AM and 4PM, and apparently someone in the appliance area was supposed to call me a week or so earlier - but never did. To say I was disappointed doesn't come close to expressing my anger. Not only did they miss the original day and time of the delivery, but when challenged on it, they just gave me a later time. THEN they told me it wouldn't be here for another week when they missed that delivery time! And when I tried calling their order department to find out what happened and to request a refund, I was told they were only going to refund me the cost of the refrigerator and not the warranty I purchased with it. I spent 25 minutes on the phone being bounced from person to person to resolve that issue. I've always preferred Lowes to their competitors, partially because of the veterans discount. Can't even begin to express my disappointment with Lowe's customer service, design, delivery & installation services. If you contract a home project, after you've paid, you will never get anyone on the phone... not cabinetry, not flooring, not customer service. Hard to call any of these services professional. Six months (hours and hours of phone calls & emails) and after one weeks-long attempt to remediate the initial install...the seams on our kitchen floor are still incongruous & uneven. I could write a literal book on what we've been through with Sterling Lowe's and their subcontracted installers. For our sanity and peace of mind we are trying to put it behind us. Go somewhere else for your home makeover. ***Follow-up 14 months after project "breaking ground". Complete. Still many more delays after last review, mostly because reorders also incorrect and communication with Lowe's flooring and cabinetry personnel, very difficult over the phone. (Lowe's basically does not answer their phones, and seem to be severely understaffed from a customer service perspective). From our initial order last October, I believe I've planned & scheduled over three dozen deliveries of parts and replacement parts and supplies and replacement parts -- not including the times they told me I had to come in and pick things up on my own . Oh, and the trucks never show when they are supposed to, and don't unload inside when I paid for it and drivers were sometimes really unpleasant --but so many scheduled days of deliveries because as mentioned above, styles and patterns were mixed and wrong, even within the same order. It's hard for me to leave a comprehensive review of the experience I've had over the last two years with Lowe's, it makes me sound & feel crazy every time! I guess in the end, I am happy with my kitchen and bath, and the cabinet installation was way less painful than the flooring - owing to a complete lack of expertise and professionalism among the flooring installers (Service Pros). (From the communication, to the complete lack of disregard for my house, and the bathroom, they used --clogging the sink with plaster and leaving piss all over the toilet). Having these crews in my house for weeks on end, and well past the estimated time to completion was a bit of a nightmare... The quality of the material seems good enough, but in order for it to look good, Lowe's has to hire and retain skilled work. Their contracted work teams came from all over and out of state resulting in the first two tile installations being horrendous. Their centralized "project management" office was very polite, but largely inefficient, and sometimes ineffective. I spent hours & hours holding on the phone for them to coordinate, not to mention updating them with my project progress, which amazingly they didn't often have. After 2 very poor kitchen floor tile installations & elevating my project management calls through various levels of supervisory, and finally mentioning small business court, the Lowe's district manager and service foreman were in my house the next week. So they finally sent their "best" guy. And he was way better, the 3rd go at a tile floor resulted in a mostly even and level surface! If you've made it this far in my reviews, then I would obviously recommend that you run fast in another direction for your kitchen and bathroom remodel, unless you have a LOT of time and patience, and/or may be interested in working on your general contractor skills. read more

Lowe's has really gone downhill. I had installs done a few years ago and they were good. Not now. Lowe's has turned to low-end products and the lowest possible quality installers - all at extremely high prices. We got quote for water heater install that was twice what we got from Home Depot. Installer was going to charge $5000-6000 to install a water heater. I called Lowe's Installation Services and was told, rather abruptly, that these were the only installers they have and have no control over the installer's pricing. I stated that the installer is making Lowe's look pretty bad and degrading their brand. The answer was they really had no concern or interest and would do nothing. Run, don't walk, away from Lowe's before you get ripped off. You can get much higher quality products and installations almost anywhere else. read more

We visited and contracted Lowes to renovate our kitchen. This visit and contract was set up in July 2021 at the Sterling Virginia Lowes. This contract included replacement cabinets, Countertops, sink, dishwasher, and touch faucet. It also included new cabinets in our half bath. A Representative came to our house and got the measurements for the cabinets and countertops. We paid for the renovation and work was to commence in November 2021 once the new cabinets were fabricated and the new countertop was fabricated. The materials (Cabinets) were delivered in late October 2021. As we inspected the containers with the delivery team, we noticed a couple of broken cabinets and cracked doors. The items were noted and replacements ordered. The replacements arrived two weeks later. The Sub-Contracted Team arrived for install in mid November and started the demo and began installing the cabinets. During the installation of the cabinets, we noticed that they were being installed off center and not as drawn out in the blueprint. Some of the cabinets were installed incorrectly, not aligned correctly and the handles were not straight. Some drawers were not installed correctly. They were supposed to come back and correct it but did not. I contacted Lowes Installation Team multiple time asking them to assist. The Countertop Sub Contracted company installed the sink and it was way off center from the cabinets. They had to cut into the cabinets framework to even install it. The Countertop was not level. The Backsplash was not even and level. Once we finally got Lowes to get the cabinet folks back out to correct the cabinets (December 2021), we were informed that the initial company no longer works with Lowes. A new company came out in January 2022 and corrected the layout as best they could. Sink is still off by a couple of inches and we still need one drawer installed and one shelf installed. The Countertop folks came out (January 2022) and took pictures and departed saying that they had to coordinate with Lowes for correcting the install. I followed up with Lowes (January 2022) and was subsequently told that the Countertop company was no longer working with Lowes. We have been contacting Lowes Installation Team almost every two weeks by phone and email. We never get any follow up phone calls or emails. The only time we hear from Lowes is when we call them. We have never heard from the original store we made the purchase from ever. even though we have called and no return calls. It is now March 2023 and we still do not have the installation completed. We need help with getting this done and advise on what to do. I strongly do not recommend LOWES for any installation at all. Just do not do it. read more

The service here is absolutely terrible. I came in to purchase a new washer dryer. I had to wait over 20 mins to get someone in the appliance department to help me, and that was after asking MULTIPLE people if there was anyone that could help. Total lack of attention. The installers incorrectly installed the dryer, they didn't connect the exhaust correctly, causing the dryer to cut off after only 5 mins and more importantly this could cause a fire. I called their store multiple times without getting a hold of anyone...so I had to come back into the store to report the problem and have them come back and install it correctly. I asked that the installer come in the afternoon on the day of service. They couldn't get that right, and they scheduled it for the morning. Their message said to call them back if I needed to reschedule. I called that number, was placed on hold for 20 mins and then was hung up on. Called them back, complained that I was hung up on after a 20 mins hold, their customer service rep, who argued with me because she couldn't understand that I'm not calling for an install, but rather for service on an existing install. I asked the rep to please not put me on hold, all I want to do is have the repair person come at the original requested time. She said she wouldn't put me on hold and that she would stay on the line, but once again put me on hold for ANOTHER 20 mins and running. I am still on hold while writing this review. If I could boycott Lowe's I would. It's frustrating their lack of customer service, their lack of professionalism, lack of understanding of their own products is mind boggling. It almost seems like they are trying to have zero concern for their own customers. I will never come back. UPDATE: The second call I made, where the customer service rep said, "I won't put you on hold, I'll stay on the phone with you." And then put me on hold anyways...well I was stubborn and stayed on hold for 58 mins, no joke. Between the two calls I made I was on hold for a total of an hour and 17 mins. I was disconnected because my phone died. At this point it feels purposeful. I honestly can't believe it, and I promise to boycott Lowe's for all time. read more

We wanted new kitchen cabinets installed and set everything up in December. The cabinets arrived in April as promised, but there was some damage and new pieces were ordered. They came a few weeks later, but we have been unable to get them installed. We called Lowes and they said the installer would call us to set up the installation date. No call. We frequently called both the Lowes installation department and the installer themselves (CME). When we spoke to people they acted very concerned, but there was no action. We were told by the installer they would be here on the 18th of July. No show. Finally we called Lowes and gave them 1 week to get here or we want our money back and the cabinets (still in boxes) removed. We still haven't heard anything and their week is up Tuesday. Lowes needs to get a new contractor. And I still need new kitchen cabinets. You know we put this on the credit card and Lowe's has been billing us. If I had the option of a ZERO star rating that would be my selection. 45 days ago we purchased a Maytag washer and dryer and it was a debacle from check out. In fact, it was so bad they ended up crediting our account to the amount of 15% on the total. To the point, we are having issues with the washer as it makes a loud grinding noise during the spin cycle and now the dryer leaves approximately 5 items wet on the highest setting. I called the store and was informed that because I am 15 days over the return they would just send out a repair person. Given the fact that we just purchased we expect to have a REPLACEMENT washer and dryer that is effective. I would highly recommend you use Home Depot. In fact, we never use Lowe's however, at the time we were desperate for a dryer and Home Depot could not get it to us as fast as Lowe's. DO NOT SHOP HERE! read more

Went in to get the manager and Matilda, a supervisor, proceeded to tell me its an online price and I needed to order it first and then come and get it. Then when I point out that it was a sale price and not an online price she tells me that even though it is the same item it has a different number. She agreed it is the same item. I experienced great service all around. Apologies I don't have everyone's names. I was looking to buy two kitchen cabinets. The first Lowe's person had a bright and kind attitude. He was upfront that wasn't his expertise but gave me the person to contact. Next, I found what I wanted but the cabinets were on the top shelf. It would involve a forklift. Two gentlemen came to my assistance. The first said he was new. Wow! Really? He was awesome. Great people skills. The young man on the forklift had the perfect calm, quiet demeanor that put me at ease. Little did he know of my perfectionism! I took the first two he brought down! The icing on the cake was Robert! He helped me load the cabinets into my Uhaul van. Seriously, Lowe's, you have a treasure on your hands. Robert, thank you for taking the time to treat me like a human being. EDIT: Store Manager Casey called and is assisting to resolve my issue. Absolutely awful customer service, especially from the Assistant Manager Reggie. Came in at the beginning of winter to purchase a charcoal grill (I know nothing about grills so I relied on the associate to help me pick out the perfect one). Was sold a grill, charcoal, lighting accessories, and grilling tools - went home happy. Unfortunately, the first time I was able to break out the grill was today.... and it turns out I was sold a wood pellet grill (with all the charcoal grill necessities.....) I called to try and return the unused grill and accessories, but was told that because we were outside of the standard 90 day return policy, there is nothing they could do. Reggie specifically said he had no ability (as the ASM?!?) to return outside the 90 day window.... which I find very hard to believe. And he said he could do nothing for me. In normal circumstances I would understand, but I bought a product in good faith, trusting everything the associate told me. Turns out, the associate was just trying to push a clearance grill on me to get brownie points with his manager. I'm currently on the phone with corporate to get a resolution - but make sure you know exactly what you are looking for before going into this Lowe's location. Don't trust their associates to have your best interest in mind, or you may be hundreds of dollars out of pocket with an unusable "charcoal" grill. read more

Horrible customer service. I purchased 4 perennial plants online in September 2022. They were recommended for fall planting and arrived in October. I followed all the instructions for planting. Winter came and went, Spring arrived, and the plants are dried up and dead. I went to my local Lowes in Sterling, VA to get a refund (I had pictures to show them of the dead plants in the ground). They told me that I needed to dig them up and bring them in for a refund. I did so the next day. The CS rep at the desk proceeded to tell me that I had passed the 90-day refund policy but that I could get store credit. Well, I really didn't want that so I asked to speak to a manager. She phoned the manager and spoke with him, hung up and told me that I could only get store credit. I relented and said ok, give me the store credit. She proceeded to process the transaction but then the register/computer informed her that no store credit could be given either. I asked her to call the manager again. The manager confirmed that the "register/computer" was right. So now, I am out $100. First, shame on the manager for not coming to speak with me directly. WTF. Second, it clearly states on the Lowes website I ordered from that all trees/shrubs/perennials have a ONE YEAR WARRANTY. Third, Why don't the employees know their own refund policy? Fourth, the CS Rep wore a mask and mumbled the whole time. The pandemic is over and masks DON'T work. Sheesh. My family and I will never venture over to Lowe's again. We'll happily go to HOME DEPOT. Terrible delivery service. I was told for 3 different days my order was being delivered on that day. Of course no one showed up. Someone had to be home to sign for the item so we wasted almost 3 full days waiting. I called the store to speak to a manager to see what they could do. When I called an associate said I had to tell her first why I needed a manager before speaking to one. Then after I told her she said managers do not take phone calls. So, on the 3rd day my item was supposed to be delivered between 8-12. After this time came and went with no delivery I called the store to speak to Chris the person in charge of deliveries. The delivery department would not answer the phone . After trying to reach someone for over an hour I finally spoke to the manager on duty. He fed me nothing but lies on why my delivery wasn't there yet. The reason I know he was telling me lies was because once my item FINALLY arrived I asked the driver and he said the manager was telling you lies. Go to Home Depot instead of Lowes in Sterling. OK...well...this past weekend, we were dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century world of computerized laundry. The dryer stopped working 3 days before we were to visit our daughter and the repairman came out the day before we were to leave for our 6 day visit, and officially pronounced the dryer as dead. Back from our visit, we started researching washers and dryers. For me, it was to the point where my head was ready to explode LOL! Reading reviews others left in various places online didn't help either. Like reading Yelp reviews, some really hated their washer while some really loved it. Arrggh! While our washer was just fine, we figured that given its age it was living on borrowed time---so...time for a new set. We settled on the Consumer Reports' top rated washer and took a stab in the dark with the dryer since Lowes didn't carry the top rated dryer. We chose Lowes due to their next day delivery option and they also haul away the old appliances. So...with great trepidation, we headed off to Lowes. My experiences with Lowes in the past weren't very positive. Many times we needed to ask a sales associate a question and none were in sight---or they were engrossed in conversation with another customer. I hate Lowes commercials---they make me want to yell at the TV LOL! In the Lowes fantasy world, people easily find a sales associate who is willing and available to spend hours with customers helping them find just the right shade of paint for their bedroom. Reality is quite the opposite. Yet...when we went to Lowes on Saturday, there were a couple of sales associates available to help. One even came up and asked if we needed help when the other associate was checking on product availability. We made our purchase, which was kind of oddly done---You give all your info to the sales associate, then go to a cash register and give the cashier your phone number, then your sale gets rung up. We were told someone would call us between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. the same day to give us a time when the washer and dryer would arrive the next day. The call came in the time frame. The two guys who delivered, installed and hauled away the old appliances came a half hour later than the specified window but we didn't mind---we know unforseen circumstances come up. Both appliances were correctly installed. Thus our 21st century laundry adventures began! I give Lowes high marks for the ease of buying and delivering the appliances. However, I can't give them 5 stars due to the fact that other times finding an available sales associate is a herculean task. read more

The long search continued for the last component to my step-daughter's bedroom make-over surprise for Christmas......a console table. Well, believe me we have been everywhere - oh sure we found tables but I'm afraid we were NOT going to spend $200+ for just the table component!! I ended up at the Lowes near the Dulles Towncenter Mall and lo and behold there was a wroght iron table, black, for $74.........did you hear me, $74! AND it included 2 table lamps. Whoa, was I really reading this correctly, did I need to change the prescription on my reading glasses....NO! Of course when we looked down from this amazing display there were no boxes to be found....talk about bummed out! We did engage one of the customer service folks who looked up the item in the computer (in case they were not going to get more we could probably get the floor model) and she came back saying there were 5 in stock. Yippee!! Immediately she got another associate to help in the search and within minutes we had our table (WITH LAMPS), checked out and were loading our prize in our car! Send them this info: Thought you all should know that I will no longer be shopping at Lowe's based on the experience I had in the garden center of the store in Sterling, VA (#1125). Aside from the inside rep yelling at a Latino customer trying to make a return and not having the best English skills, the garden center experience started as usual. I came through the store with a pallet cart, was asked by an employee if I needed help finding anything and declined, grabbed 200 lb of gypsum and 20 bags of mulch and headed to the outdoor checkout. Upon arriving with my unwieldy load, the gentlemen second in line (the only open outdoor register) with just a few bags of mulch left the line to head inside remarking how the line "was taking forever". I proceeded to join the line while the cashier and the couple at the head of the line appeared to negotiate over expired specials or try to communicate that certain products were indoors. I could not tell exactly what the subject was, but they were both pointing at an old flyer and had obviously already been some time considering the previous customer left the line. This proceeded for 10 more minutes, me still waiting. Another customer joined the line and asked the cashier if the line was in fact open because he had seen me waiting for sometime. 5 minutes later a supervisor of some sort is standing behind the associate at the register on his work phone/radio, nothing progressing. I ask both the cashier and supervisor if they could at least open the second line so the accumulating line of customers could check out. The supervisor tell me that "there are no more cashiers available." I had been greeted by a garden center employee on my way in, he could have helped. Most of all, the supervisor himself could've stepped in to address the needs of the customer with the cashier to free him up, or open a line himself. I asked him why he couldn't open a line himself and received only a blank stare. At that point I told him and the cashier that they had wasted enough of my time and would instead be shopping at Home Depot. I left my cart where it stood and left Lowe's for the last time. There were countless times where a customer-centric business could have remediated the situation, and Lowe's failed each and every time. My only regret is that I did not think to get the names of the employees involved. This occurred between 4:45 - 5:15 pm on April 4. Perhaps some security footage or employee scheduling logs will provide some insight. This new homeowner will be a Home Depot customer moving forward. read more

I was in the process of switching much of my purchases to Lowe's and opened a Pro account recently for my business. My very first order for kitchen appliances($8,500) was delivered to my clients property on Dec 29, 2023. I front loaded this delivery to buy from stock although the project does not begin until mid Feb. On Jan 4, I received emails from Home Depot and Lowe's of reductions on several items that I purchased. After 20 minutes on the phone with a pleasant representative who confirmed the price reductions, her manager would not approve credit for me. It has been 6 days since delivery and all are still in original boxes. This is the worst price matching policy that I have experienced in 45 years of business. I will no longer bring any business to Lowe's due to their short sighted, poor business decision. There is no shortage of competition these days. My strongest recommendation is to shop anywhere other than Lowe's for your appliances. read more

Worst service and wait time I've experienced. There was only one employee at the paint counter who looked miserable and like he really hated his job. He almost seemed like he was being forced to work here against his will so a part of me felt bad for him. I ordered a specific paint color that I took a whole week to research in finding the perfect gray paint. The store did not have this specific paint color sample because I think the color is new? However, I wrote down the color name and gave it to the employee. All you do is type it in the system. Also, I ordered 2 gallons being at 50 bucks each. EACH! Once he mixed the paint and brought it back out, I had a hunch that the color might be...wrong. However, I was not 100% sure because I had it mixed 50% lighter or less strength. Once I took the paint home and painted a sample on my wall, I knew it was completely wrong. The color name or code was not even printed on the label of the paint. It just said "custom" because of the 50% lighter request. Therefore, I don't even know what color he ended up picking. It was a very strange light orangey/yellow color which was extremely different than the color I originally had requested. Not gray AT ALL. Now I have to take the paint back, but I probably can't even get a refund because it's a custom color. FML. read more

I knock off one star because trying to get out of the parking lot is a disaster. Otherwise, if you're looking for stuff that's a bit more decorative as far as home improvement items this is the place to go. I feel like going to Home depot its more hardware type focus. And if you need help its pretty easy to find someone to assist you. Someone even came up to us today and asked if we needed help which sort of threw me off guard. This is our to go Lowe's for home projects. The customer service is a hit or miss. If you go on a weekday, the staff is always there to help and guide you to get the right tools. However, if you go on a weekend, forget about it. You can wait for the help for minimum 30 mins. One thing that we don't like about is the online pick up item. They always mess up with your order and they make you wait forever to fix the issue. It's really not a shop online and pick up right away thing. Be prepared to wait. They are pretty good about accepting an online coupons and don't ask for a paper coupon. read more

I see that on the cover page their Covid-19 update is they have curbside pickup. WHAT A CROCK!!! I went to the pickup area, called the number on the sign and no one ever answered, the phone rang until it disconnected. I called 4 times over a half hour. NO answer. Had to do exactly what I didn't want to do and go into the store. Nobody at the pickup desk either. Someone finally showed up and went to the back to get my rather large artificial tree. Rolled it up on a cart and left it to me to deal with. I am a single, older lady. Hence the wanting curbside pickup so I don't have to load it myself. Well, had to load it myself. I will not be shopping at Lowes again. Ever wonder why Home Depot is so crowded? It's because they are FAR and away the superior establishment. read more

Wow! I should have looked at the reviews before placing an order! As a DIYer, I've spent over $50,000 between Lowes and Home Depot in the past 7 years. So, I have quite a bit of experience. Recently, I placed two orders with lowes for close to $5,000. Everything ordered was for a siding project at our home. One order was for siding that was not in stock and the 2nd order was for items that were in stock. On the delivery date for the 1st order, after email confirmation of the delivery, the day came and went with no order or call. I called Lowes to learn that they had confusion and it would arrive 2 days later. The 2nd attempt was similar as the 1st attempt, in the confirmation and no-show, except that when I called them before the end of day, their driver said the order was never loaded on his truck. As a DIYer that still has a job, I cannot afford to wait and be so disrespected in their lack the professional courtesy to keep me informed. I cancelled the orders and, 4 days later, still have to notice of refund. Oh, and the store manager or assistant manager hasn't called me back as requested. I will go to Lowes today and get this settled, but when personal commitments are not met, I view this as a lack of character and I prefer to not work with such people. Normally, I would see Marvin Ellison, Lowes CEO, at the Home Delivery World conference in Philly this week as he's been speaking there for the past couple of years. I do look forward to sharing my experience with him as soon as I can make the connection. I'm sure this is not the CX that he's expecting from his team leaders. read more
