After receiving an incorrect delivery and helping them reload the material onto their truck (after confirming the details via phone the day before) we received a rude and unprofessional voicemail from Karen. Without calling to find out what the mix up had been she left a lengthy voicemail accusing us of making the driver reload material alone and threatening to not deliver to us. This will not be a problem as we will no longer be using Loudon milling due to the unprofessional and rude behavior. read more

Everything you need for landscaping and gardening! Top soil (sifted), leaf compost (no manure), straw, fill dirt, and any mixed combo however you want it. Best of all - stones and boulders. Any size, just about any color, any thickness from wall to facade. Fence posts of numerous kinds can also be found here. Extremely friendly staff from the owners, the ladies at the counter, and the delivery man. Here's where they lose one star - in my opinion their delivery fee is too expensive for the stones. A dump truck of soil is $50 while one pallet of stones is $75. Yes, they have to use their cool machine to unload the stones, but I still think $75 is too much for 20 minutes away. Good side - its the same fee whether you buy one pallet or the whole truck full. That's cool! Go for the stones! One last note - I had top soil/compost mix delivered three weeks and still no weeds. I've had it brought in from nurseries that sprouted weeds in less than one week. I'm all about this place. Now I just have to save my pennies for the next pallet of stones. read more

I want to support small business, esp. small local feed stores. Unfortunately, I've just had an absolutely terrible time with Loudoun Milling. They deliver to my barn and for a while it was smooth sailing and then I made the mistake of picking up an extra bag of grain and then talking to my vet the next day who recommended another feed instead. I called Loudoun Milling and they said, "no problem, we'll pick it up at the next delivery"...which they did. However, they did not credit my account and now claim they never picked up the bag of grain, which isn't true. So, I spoke to the woman who always answers the phone and she basically called me a liar, great. Ok, I'm not going to order from you anymore and will be taking my business elsewhere. Low and behold, they delivered more hay and grain the following week that I asked them to cancel. So now, they are not refunding my card and I'm extremely nervous that they are going to forget they picked up all the grain and hay. When I called back to mention my CC has still not seen the return charge she told me she's been "too busy"??? Well, maybe that's how you lost that first bag of grain I returned? In closing, their customer service is abysmal and I pray and hope I actually get refunded this time, but I'm sure I'll be out over $100. Thanks Loudoun Milling! read more

I have been a customer of LCM for two years and I have to say that they are absolutely wonderful. I buy an assortment of items that range from chicken feed to gravel for my driveway and their prices and services can not be beat. They offer great onsite service and they will also deliver large orders to your farm/home including tons of soil or mulch. I also enjoy the atmosphere when I pick up on site as LMC has the feel of the old feed mill/store of my childhood which is why I enjoy taking our children on feed runs so they get to experience LMC's courtesy and friendliness. Ordered mulch for delivery and was charged a premium rate plus a delivery fee which I paid in advance. I live approximately 9 miles away so the delivery fee per mile was in excess of $6.00. Quantity of mulch delivered was approximately 60-70% of the volume ordered. The truck bed was far from full with well over a foot of empty space on each side of the truck bed. I told the driver I thought the load was light and requested the driver have the office contact me. I never received a call. I finally called the office and was told that their trucks hold 20 yards and the particular truck sent to my home was heaping at the top and totally full. Somehow the person to whom I was speaking knew exactly the load that was sent to my house in spite of the 35 truckloads delivered that day. I was placed on hold for an extended period while the manager was consulted. My call was never retrieved and I was never contacted by the manager. Very disappointing experience. read more

We have been customers of Loudoun Milling for about 5 years. We were always happy with the service. At the end of last week we ordered I/2 aggregate and they delivered pea stone. We gave them very good instructions on where to put it and even explained it to the driver who has been here many times. We think they used another driver. When Monday came around I called to explain what happened. I was very surprised that after all the business and loyalty we have given them the managers response was " we don't need customers like you". Like me? Really? What does that mean. I did not ask for anything, just wanted to explain that now my Yard is two different color stone and that my work doubled. There was no apology, No, saying we will do better next time or make sure it does not happen again. So, unless Loudoun Milling gets your order perfectly right, Loudoun customers beware! read more

I've been a regular customer of Loudoun Milling for about 10 years. I really appreciate their friendly, helpful staff, in the office and at the loading dock. They have been willing to order special items for me and have taken back two returns without question. I can often find horse items I need at Loudoun Milling that I can't find at local tack stores. Their delivery charges are much more reasonable than other feed stores in the area. I'm very lucky to have Loudoun Milling just a phone call away. read more

This place has terrible customer service. We drove an hour to them as their bulk pricing (we are breeders and feed 30 bags per month) for our dog food was unbeatable. I wasn't prepared to take a whole load today so I was just going to get 4 bags till we could come back with the truck and get a large load. A very rude lady claiming to be the manager/owner refused to take a check because I was writing it off my business account with a DC address. I explained that it was drawn off our credit union which was in Virginia and they said they only take "very local" checks. When I explained that I had driven an hour to go there, she remarked I should've asked before I came if they accept checks. We've never shopped at a feed store that didn't accept checks... We are very disappointed because we looked forward to getting the bulk discount each month but it's almost worth paying 2.00 more per bag to purchase it from a closer, MORE FRIENDLY feed store!! Don't be fooled by the overly friendly voices over the phone, the owner is NOT customer service oriented not is she very friendly at all! read more

I was looking for food for my quails, happened to drive by Loudoun Milling so stopped by and checked them out. Lady at the front desk was helpful but did not know much about feed for quails, which was ok as not many people know. After I told her chicken feed was ok, she checked around and suggested a feed. I asked if the feed was processed "materials" or raw grains, she told me was grains. I bought the feed sight unseen. When I saw it, it was Purina, meaning processed "stuffs". It was too much hassle to return so I just went ahead with the purchase. If she didn't know, she should have told me rather than giving me wrong information. read more
