This seems to be less rugged and catered towards home owners than home contractors to me. Many of the same products as HD, but with additional design differences from the home owner's tastes. I have bought my bathroom light fixtures, towel hooks and racks, toilet seat covers, bulbs, washer/dryer, faucets, huge 72" in span fans for the bedrooms and great room from here as well as plants, paint and tools of course. Today was two new wood slow and soft close toilet seats. One with chrome and the other with nickel finished hardware. I have bought the church brand before, it's not the best as it can and has cracked over time. I am not sure if the last church lasted over a year. But no one else makes the soft close wood seats here. Wish they sold other white wood seats other than Church. They even had green zip ties for lights and a lot of Christmas decorations and Christmas themed plants and the like. read more

The prices were better than Home Depot, the purchased products were in the correct amounts, Home Depot could not get the numbers correctly and added more material than needed. Purchased yesterday, delivered today. Went to HomeDepot 4/28, delivery was to have been 5/8, wast called at 0630 and told order was removed from the truck with no explanation. Stopped by here for a minute on the 4th of July. I had ordered some specialty lightbulbs off their website, and had to pick it up at the store. When you enter the entrance to the right, the pickup area is directly on your left. Associates were wearing masks although one had hers almost under her nose. Easy to order online--their website was much easier to navigate vs Home Depot's--and easy to pick up, so I'd order from them again. Kinda crazy that this Lowe's is practically sharing a parking lot with a Home Depot. Nonetheless, it's a great location and fully stocked with whatever home improvement item you are looking for. We've been into this location a few times. Our purchases consisted of light bulbs, outdoor items and paint. Not only were we able to find it all during each occasion but were helped in a very kind manner along the way. For our light bulb trip, there's no way we would have selected the correct tube light bulb for our basement light that burned out. They have so many different bulbs to choose from. I was able to explain what type of light we had and was able to show a picture of the bulb and was shown exactly what I needed. We took it home and it worked perfectly! For our outdoor items trip, we were looking for some weed killer and some gardening tools. Again, weren't really sure what we were looking for because they have a lot of different weed killers and different tools to turn over soil. We explained our situation and were directed to the right products, a big pump container of Round Up and a specific three prong dirt tool to turn over the soil. Both items worked like a charm. Finally, for our paint trip, we were looking for a dry erase board type of paint. We looked up and down the aisles and in the paint department and couldn't find it. We stopped someone and asked where it could be. They helped us search all over the aisle and we finally found it. There were two cans left and someone had picked them up and moved them to the wrong part of the aisle. It was really nice that the worker was able to help us like that. NEVER BUY A DOOR HERE! We ordered screen door and a fiberglass door four months ago. we've been given the runaround for over a month and a half trying to get it installed. The wonderful nice contractor who came to install the doors today showed us the fiberglass door and it looks like it was painted by a 10-year-old (no offense to 10 year oldss). Also, it was supposed to come with a doorhandle and a lock as both my mother and I picked one out when the woman who came to measure our doors was here in April. We went through tons of drama, saying that they pulled permits (apparently in Royal Oak you need a permit to put a door on)-we called for two weeks to the city, and no permit was ever pulled yet told us the permit was pulled. So, now after waiting since April 12 and today is July 30 We have to send the door back and *Now was more than the 12 hours. We wasted on the phone and the four hours we wasted in the store. Next time, I'm going to buy a prefab door and install it myself because this is ridiculous. Also, we paid $2700 for a screen door and a plain boring door to be installed-2 doors and you would think for the price they would make one look decent and not send out junk. Never again as we are now $2700 in the hole and without a new back door. I will say that the contractor who came over with the doors was amazing and super awesome. read more

This Lowes is cleaner and more organized than the Home Depot that is across the street. The Garden Dept and Seasonal Grill Dept seem larger too. They also have a nice light selection including a good variety of replacement lamp shades. Aisles are well stocked and you do not need to hunt for the price. Prices are comparable to Home Depot. They also have just about any tools you may need as well as appliances. The other thing they have is knowledgeable people who can answer your questions, explain how to do something or how to use a tool, or even make suggestions or come up with ideas for you. I've always had good interactions with the people working at Lowes and their advice and suggestions. Sometimes it takes time to get to the right person with the appropriate knowledge. Never use Lowe's for a fence installation. This lesson probably applies to using them for any contract work. Short story: I paid Lowe's $3,175 for a privacy fence installation. Six months later, at least a dozen phone calls with Lowe's, no communication from the subcontractor, and it still wasn't completed. Long story: I signed a contract with Lowe's on May 8, 2020, for a 104 linear foot privacy fence installation in my back yard and put the entire purchase ($3,175) on a Lowe's card. Under the contract, the installation was expected to begin on August 1 with an estimated completion date of November 1. The Lowe's representative assured me that the installation would be completed by mid-to-late July (barring Covid-related issues) and that the November 1 date was included "as a legal requirement." I was pleasantly surprised that my install was scheduled for around July 5. The night before my installation, I received an automated call from Lowe's telling me that the supplies necessary for my fence installation would be delivered the next morning. Then I received call from Lowe's telling me that they didn't have enough materials. Later, I received a call telling me that the installation was canceled and would have to be rescheduled. Only thing was, Lowe's couldn't give me an install date because they could not get in touch with their own contractor. Something to be aware of: Lowe's does not perform the installation themselves. They subcontract with a company called ServeForce which appears to exist only to fulfill Lowe's contracts. You can't get in touch with them and you essentially have no recourse against them. Throughout the summer and fall, I received calls from Harvey, the Lowe's project coordinator, based out of Indianapolis. Harvey very politely checked in with me to tell me that they were trying to get ahold of the supplies they needed, they were trying to get in touch with their contractor to schedule a new date, and that things were in motion, but that he didn't have any new information for me. Things were not in motion. For weeks this went on with no progress until a pallet of materials arrived in my driveway, sometime in August. Still, no installation date, no communication from the contractor, no useful information from Lowe's. So, every day I looked at the pallet of wood planks in my driveway being exposed to the elements, waiting for news of a scheduled installation date, with no recourse under my contract because it had November 1 as a final estimated completion date. (Funnily, I had a conversation with my new friend Harvey about the supplies that were delivered --- Lowe's wasn't even aware that they were delivered, nor did they seem to care that they were sitting in my driveway for weeks on end.) Finally in mid-October, Lowe's informed me that my fence would be installed the first week of November --- a full six months after I signed my contract. The day of my installation arrived, and the contractor showed up, inspected my pallet of materials, and told me he did not have enough supplies to complete the project as ordered. I sent him home, canceled the contract, and waited weeks for Lowe's to process my refund (which, incidentally, was the only thing they accomplished in a remotely efficiently manner). I then called KJ Wren Contracting out of Rochester. They came to my house two days later, gave me an estimate, and completed the installation by the first week of December. if you are a DIY-ER, like moi, this is like paradise. Everything that you could ever use for your home is in this place except for people to do it for you LOL that's the part that makes it so much fun. You can go into Lowe's and talk to the people who are working there about what you want to do and they will actually point you in the direction of the products you'll need to do it. amazingly there are always kind and usually very patient especially when you don't know what you want; but you can describe to them what you think it is. my tip is, I try and order before I go to the store to cut cost because if I'm in that store for more than 10 minutes I am going to spend $100 and I don't know why but some way Lowes always gets money out of my pocket. I hate to admit I go to Lowe's more than the supermarket. I think that's because I just bought this house and I'm always needing stuff. I'm glad they're open from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. because that means that at 8 p.m. when I need a tool I can look for it on the website pre-order it pay for it and go right up to the pickup desk get it and jump right back in my car and get right back to work. This particular location has some of the nicest people in the paint department ever. I have to admit I spend a lot of time there because lately I've been working on repairing walls and paint in my house. Everybody seems to have their specialty. Especially the lady who understands wallpaper. I wish I could have brought her to my house and had her move in for a week because she was the one who gave me the courage to just get in there and rip it down. They even showed me the piranha tool and told me that it was pointless to buy the liquid wallpaper remover because it's just soap and you just add water to it. LOL that's why you need to be friendly with the people at Lowe's because they will surely tell you how to save your money when you are in there wanting to give it all to them. last week when I was in there picking up some things that I had ordered two of the people that I deal with a lot in there actually said to me "hey you know where everything is in this store so why don't you just apply for a job, they always have you in here anyway" Yes, we started laughing and I actually considered it but no I'd rather work on my house because if I start working at Lowe's I won't have any time to fix up my house. I will admit that if I worked at Lowe's my paycheck will probably go to them and I would never get a chance to work on my house and enjoy all of the stuff that I would end up buying. I don't know Lowes,, I think you got something that you spray in the air when people walk in the door that just makes them open up their wallet I'll be honest with you and say take my money you've got stuff I want and I'm willing to make a deal. Tried Lowe's bc they had the paint sprayer I wanted in stock... Waited more than 24 hours for my curbside pickup and then was told it would be an additional 12 more. Was left on hold for more than 45 minutes before I hung up, went in, bought more items (to make sure they'd help me) and then asked a manager to help me get my order filled. Waited over an hour for the clerk to pull what would have otherwise taken me maybe 10-15 minutes. Wanted to be safe bc if Covid, but having to stand in close proximity with a bunch of folks doesn't feel safe. I completely understand if they are understaffed, but let folks know before they place "same day curbside pick up orders"... my weekend diy project was completely killed by this. I mainly like this store because it's usually pretty empty. It sure beats the crowded Home Depot across the street. This is my main location for home improvement. I know where everything is and again, it feels less claustrophobic than Home Depot. I've never had any issues with returns. I brought back a $100 tree that died within a week of planting it. No questions asked. That was great. Most of these places are the same, have the same products, etc. So really what distinguishes this is their stock and environment. The kitchen department at Lowe's in Madison Heights is horrible! Using Lowe's installer to measure out my kitchen, I placed an order for semi custom KraftMaid cabinets February 07, 2023. I was promised cabinet delivery to my home March 2023 and cabinet installation April 07, 2023. During the install, the same install team only hung 20% of my base cabinets because the designer miscalculated cabinet sizes, widths and depth, I ordered glass cabinet doors instead I received solid doors, she placed drawers cabinet where there should have been sink cabinets and the installers missed measured the ceiling height which meant that I either had to choose smaller crown molding or order shorter cabinets... because this was not the fault of KraftMaid, they didn't put a rush on the order and I had to wait an another 6-8 weeks... when the cabinet came back the 2cd time, I was sent another customer cabinet molding and damaged cabinets, And still wrong cabinets and now they want me to wait until October 2023 before all my cabinet are in... I spent over 31 thousand on cabinets and I still don't have a complete kitchen... I have asked for a refund and my request has fallen on deaf ears... I'm suing them. 8-9 months and still no cabinets? Run from them.. they take no accountability and only offers promises! read more

I got the notice to pick my stuff up and headed out. When I arrived they had mixed 1 gallon of paint when I ordered a 5-gallon pail. Needless to say I spent 25 minutes at the store (before 7am) and didn't get my product. The first bag they pulled for me was half empty. Actually sat in one to see how my legs fit, in front of 4 male workers who were all talking. No one stepped aside and ask if I needed help, and no they weren't discussing work. They either don't have it or no one was trying to help us and we asked nearly everyone in that area who wasn't the cashier. does anyone actually work outside in the garden area or are they all volunteers? Further why would you hire volunteers who don't know jack about your business or at least the area they are assigned. WORST customer service the ladies didn't even try to help it was just "oof I don't work for lowes" then why are you here and why are you wearing the vest like you do... It's a Lowe's,, it's the same as all the other Lowe's anywhere in the country. The only difference is the employees. People who work here are extra nice. They're cool and you can tell they love to work here. Whenever you're standing in the aisles, you can bet plenty would walk by and ask, "what can I help you with today?" This literally means that these guys came to work and are really here to work. Are you a DIY noobie? Don't worry, plenty of their staff members are extremely knowledgeable about the products that they sell and how to go on about executing your projects. If they don't know about it, they usually will find somebody that does. If not, you can usually Google everything. We had a lot of fun shopping for faucets. We bought some galvanized steel pipes for our DIY clothes hanger. I love going to places like these. Because our creative juices flow every time we come here. read more

My father bought a screen door last March 2020 and he is still waiting for it to be installed. The first door that arrived in May was the wrong size. The store received what they said was the right size door in August but with no hardware. At the end of September, the store told him they were still waiting on the hardware?
