Posting this so others are aware before purchasing equipment from Lowe's Home Improvement in Latham, NY. We purchased a riding lawnmower that was sold to us as new. Within an hour of getting it home, we found a large, rusted dent on the floorboard, widespread scratches/cosmetic damage, a heavily rusted blade, and grass/dirt buildup inside the deck housing. When we called the store that night, we were basically told this was "normal." The next day, a manager told us the mower "looked 2 years old." During later conversations with corporate customer care, we were then told the mower was an older model that had apparently been sitting outside for "a few years." Despite that, it was displayed and sold alongside actual new models at full price. The mower was eventually replaced and we received partial compensation after an absurd amount of back and forth, but the explanations the entire way through were inconsistent, communication was terrible, and nobody could give a straight answer as to how a mower in that condition could appropriately be sold as new. Sharing this so others know to thoroughly inspect expensive equipment before leaving the store, and perhaps take their business somewhere other than Lowe's. read more

I guess you could say that once you've been to one Lowe's, you've been to all Lowe's. This shop even had what looked like a replica of the Xmas decorations at the main entrance that I had recently seen at another local Lowe's. More to the point though, I like the ease of navigation, the wide variety of home improvement products, and the easy self-checkout. The key cutting machine is a neat offering, although a part of me longs for the days of independent neighbourhood locksmiths. read more

I try to avoid shopping at Lowe's as much as possible (please support local places like Chance's in Latham, which is an amazing hardware store), but sometimes it's unavoidable. Today I needed some sturdy pavers and you just can't get these at the local places. I had a surprisingly decent experience at this Lowe's today- no one was around to help me but i eventually found everything I needed on my own. Just one person ahead of me to check out and the checkout was with an actual employee not a machine! Plenty of lot parking and security cameras watching over the lot. read more

I don't know how a business can expect to provide customer service without a proper staffing level. There are frequently no employees present in departments and when they send someone to try to help, they haven't had training in that department. Not helpful at all. I am not blaming the employees for this, the business needs to be staffed. read more

Worst Lowe's in the area. I waited 30 minutes for any help in getting paint...I had to ask (for store manager) after paging for any help in paint department. There were 3 of us waiting. If I didn't need it I would have left. I'm so tired to the line "people don't want to work". Hint Lowe's: When employees are appreciated and taken care of by an employer they do want to work. Stop perpetuating this BS sir. I will actively not return. My husband went another day and was told (after not looking it up on the computer) he couldn't get that color ?!? I purchased a lawn mower from the Latham Lowes on May 3, 2025. Free delivery was scheduled for Monday, May 5th. I was given a 12 hour window and was not home that Monday so it was rescheduled for Wednesday. I received a call Wednesday saying "it was damaged in transit and I was not responsible for the damage." Delivery was rescheduled for Tuesday, May 13th. Tuesday came and went and when I called Wednesday the 14th, I was told that my delivery date was June 5th at which point I asked for a refund. I was told that I would have to call the Kingston store and the third-party delivery service to receive a refund. Apparently, Lowes does not deliver any longer but that info was not shared with me. At this point, I left work and drove over to tell them that I was NOT going to call the Kingston store OR their delivery company. I then STUPIDLY went to Lowes again on Thursday, May 15th to repurchase the same mower and bypass the third-party delivery service. I told them that I would be in Monday, May 19th with a rented truck to take it. When I arrived Monday, there was a mower that "fit the description" of the one I purchased but it DID NOT HAVE A BATTERY. I told them to put a battery from off the shelf in and I would be on my way. Carly, who was behind the service desk, was incredibly sweet and patient. BRAD the manager, when he FINALLY agreed to come out and talk to me, said the "system" said that I had already taken it back on Thursday when I purchased it....WTH? Why would I be there with a UHaul if I already had it? He said that he believed me but he still had to "review the footage with a special team" and that it could take a while. I felt that he was accusing me of trying to get another mower for free. Today, May 20th, I have been trying to contact the store manager Katie Kuzan. I have called THREE times and she has yet to return my call. SHAME ON LOWES THAT THEY THINK THIS IS ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR. Brad was borderline incompetent and rude and everyone else, while decent people, don't seem to have the necessary training to handle what should have been a simple transaction. read more

I purchased a washer what a night mare !!!!!! Purchased in. Colonie. Went to Clifton park for Pedistals showed they had 4 !!!!!! Not so got manager involved Eric. He tried to it took over a month the right hand has no idea what the left is doing !!!!! Delivery does as little as possible also. They never leveled my machine. Eric asst. tried. His best. This Lowes is awesome! I had an issue with a price decrease on tile after I had paid full price. I called corporate and after 45 minutes I got nowhere. I called the store and spoke to John the manager and he was respectful as he listened to my request for a credit. He resolved my issue quickly and satisfactorily. The next day I went in and he asked if everything was resolved. What a professional! We will definitely use this Lowes often! read more

Lowe's has to do their own delivery. Using third party Services is a huge mistake. They are rude, unprofessional, dismissive, and incompetent and do not provide the service customers expect from Lowe's. You don't get to avoid responsibility if you hire these contractors . Do your own deliveries Lowe's and maybe more customers will come back to your stores. read more

Tried online order and pickup again. I will never learn. Pickup took 45 minutes. Order was not ready as stated in the email they sent - not even started. They added a pick-up desk but there is rarely anyone there. Lowes offers the pickup service but they do not deliver on the promises. Don't bother - especially at this location. read more

Since moving to Loudonville, this has been my go-to place for anything home related. The staff is friendly and the people I have asked questions to knew the answers or correctly referred me to others who did. My wife ordered a custom ceiling lamp from them and had a very bad experience but that was because one of their employees didn't really understand what he was doing. I suppose that is why I am not giving it 5 stars. Their prices are normal. I generally don't find anything cheaper than Home Depot, and I usually come here because it is convenient to get to and because I have the interior memorized. I hate that the three Lowes (Albany, Latham, Clifton Park) have completely different interior layouts. If I stop at the others when I am doing erranges, I usually get lost and have to wander around for awhile. However, the Home Depot on Washington Ave is set up differently from the ones in Latham and Clifton Park so I guess it is normal for big-box stores. This one has a truck rental, and not all do (I found that out after I purchased a bunch of oversize lumber at another Lowes with no truck rental)! If I had to knock this Lowes for anything, it is that I have found it carries more than the other Lowes stores. Normally that isn't a problem, but I have tried to return several electrical items (switches, outlets) at another Lowes and been told that they "don't carry those items" and I then had to drive up to Latham to get my money back. Very odd! Again, not really this store's fault, but it is something to keep in mind. read more

Terrible experience with person in kitchens when I was trying to order counter tops. I don't think she cared. She kept changing what she told me about what I was supposed to do and what outside contractors were to do to prepare, she had no patience with my questions and she had no idea how long we were supposed to wait for our work to be done while they left the sink and cook top uninstalled. She was sarcastic and rude. I don't think she cared if we ordered or not. read more

It's hard to give a review for a hardware store. It just isn't a place you go to just browse. Most people go to the hardware store with a game plan or a specific need. Since we were in need of a new washer/dryer, after checking online for sales, we ended up at Lowe's. The sales guy was either feeding us a line or he actually makes an effort to know some info on the appliances. We confirmed our choice before purchase with reviews from previous buyers. So yes, we will most likely use Lowe's again since they have been able to fill the bill of what appliance, paint, wood, etc. we have needed. It has a spacious parking lot and is easily accessible. read more

Horrible experience, and I'm still experiencing it. Just tried to get an update on our delivery, and could not get a straight answer from Customer "Service." The person then dropped the call (sounded like they even dropped the actual phone). I called back, and someone named Stephanie answered. I asked if she was the manager, she seemed to ignore my question and asked how she could help. She refused to tell me if she was a manager. I asked to speak with a manager. She then hung up on me. I called back several times - same Stephanie voice each time saying "Please hold." I'm sure she saw my number on caller ID and was putting me through phone-hold hell. All I want to know is when my doors are coming - it shouldn't be this hard to get an answer, and this Stephanie person needs to learn how to talk to her customers. read more

Bought some landscaping supplies today and the guy was super nice. I needed help with my stuff and they were great. Also like the staff indoors in the tractors and equipment section. Lowe's standard, but slightly spiffier since it's newer. There seem to be younger employees here than your typical store, and they're noticeably perkier than the grumpy staff at the Schenectady store, and the store is in a bit less disarray. That said, I went in for three things on a recent visit, had to ask questions about where to find, what the price was, and what the proper use was, and got three wrong answers. Which kind of makes it par for the course. If you want to find a part, you go to the big box stores; if you want the part explained properly, you have to go to the neighborhood hardware stores. At some point Lowe's or Home Depot is going to figure out how to retain a better knowledge base among its employees and they'll surge ahead, but for now this is like going to the grocery store and having the clerks not really be sure how to make spaghetti after you've located the pasta and sauce in the wrong aisle they sent you to. read more

I was in the lumber department and asked a male employee if I could ask him a question,, his answer was "WHAT?" said in the most put out way you can imagine. He was obviously irritated to have to be bothered. Another employee (male) around the hardware section was really sweet and helpful. read more

Great selection but the people that work there are useless. We were trying to buy a $900 patio door. Do you think we could find a knowledgable person to help us? Nope. Lowes hires high school kids to screw around on the forklift instead of real sales people. It got worse when we went to customer service and got a ton of attitude by an obnoxious woman who was busy on her phone. From now on I will shop at Home Depot. Extremely poor customer service over the phone. Lowe's needs to train staff on phone etiquette. On hold for a long time. The only things they said to me were "your name?" and "one minute." No one ever said may I put you on holf for a moment? No one asked how I was doing. No one said thank you. They showed no respect for the value of my time. If you expect to be putting someone on hold for more than a minute or two the polite thing to do is to offer to call them back. I'm sorry I patronized you at all. I recommend going to Ace instead. Nice clean Lowes. I enjoying walking around this location, never too busy and the isles are easy to get up and down. Staff are through out the store, if you have any questions they are pleasant and willing to help. I've never left feeling like I didn't find what I was looking for. Busy on weekends and when the garden center opens in the spring. read more

I have literally never written a review before, but this Lowe's is terrible. I ordered a dishwasher that said it was available- except it wasn't and they called and said it wouldn't be in the store for delivery for about 10 days after I ordered. Fine, we'll get it delivered after Thanksgiving. It gets here, and they can't put it in because they don't install, only deliver. Was that communicated to me at any point in 3 phone calls I had to schedule delivery? Nope. Fine. I get my plumber to install - for a fee- and, on the advice of the guys who delivered (who were actually very nice), tried calling Lowe's later to haul away the appliance they couldn't remove (because, I'm "supposed to have it out when they get there"), and NO ONE EVER ANSWERS. I finally get hold of someone who will leave word with the delivery manager. Who leaves at 1. It is the absolute worst experience. Please, buy whatever you need ANYWHERE else read more

What a mess. It's bad enough the items needed were only available on-line for in-store pick-up. It's bad enough the items were sent to this store and not the location selected. It's bad enough the items were delivered two days late on a time-sensitive project. But this store is just awful to deal with. The customer "service" employee who answered the phone seemed barely capable of answering whether or not the order had arrived, even with all the necessary information (phone number, name, order number, etc.). She also neglected to tell us that only one of the two boxes of materials had arrived. Being short a box meant the project ended up delayed. During a follow-up call regarding the missing box, she hung up the phone. We'll be very reluctant to deal with Lowe's again in general, but if we do, it will NOT be this location. read more

Cashier (alleged Manager) did not do my exchange properly (she processed it as a return) and suggested I come back yet again to purchase the items as I didn't have my credit card on me. So when I said its an even exchange as the only difference was the color, why can't I take the items she stated you'll have to come back, no apologies, no common sense. Usually, I'm a fan of Lowes over Home Depot. I needed three things today. Couldn't find anyone in the three different departments. I hit the help assistance button in two of the departments. The lady in the washing machine area was able to help me. The guy in the plumbing area seemed irritated that the loud speaker said someone needed help. Worst customer service experience ever. Between 11 and 2 I called the store several times to find out when I could expect a delivery. Was put on hold four times for at least 8 minutes each. Was also disconnected several times. At noon I was told they would call me back in a couple of minutes. I finally cancelled the order after being on hold for 21 minutes. Purchased a Frigidaire side by side refrigerator July 13, 2018, bought the 5 year warranty. About a month ago the frig was making all kinds of noise, sounded like someone was knocking on our door and making other weird noises. Called and set up for a repairmen to come and look at it May 2nd 2019, he said it was normal for Frigidaire to do that and when the ice fell the metal bars would drop and make a bang as the ice fell, very annoying. E-mailed Lowes and chatted with a representative and to make a long story short, deal with it, that there is a 30 day return policy on appliances. I just want to let people know, do not buy Frigidaire, and one more thing about Lowes, went and picked out a Piergo floor at Lowes, had them come and measure and estimate the cost, went to purchase it, and it was discontinued, in less than 2 weeks. My mother recently purchased a new refrigerator from Lowes in Halfmoon, NY. Upon purchase she was told it would be in within the week. No one took the time to call her and let her know it wouldn't arrive for another two weeks. When it did arrive the delivery men refused to bring it up into her apartment because she has a chair lift on the stairs. Now when she purchased it weeks earlier they were informed of this chair lift and said it would not be an issue. When two men the size of football players showed up to deliver it and refused to carry the apartment size fridge up the stairs because they didn't want to hurt their back I was in shock. The manager, Holly, said they couldn't bring it up either because it was too risky with back injury issues. Again these men were well over 6 feet tall and the size of a linebacker. They would have had to lift it a foot to get it past the chair than carry it up as usual but apparently these men didn't feel like real work this particular day. Despite my contact with corporate twice I never heard back from anyone. Does no one care about great customer service anymore. Needless to say my mother purchased a new fridge from Earl B Feiden in Clifton Park and the delivery men just delivered it no issues and removed the old one no issues. Thank you Earl B Feiden for taking fantastic care of my mother. Lowes we will take all our business elsewhere!!! read more

I recently bought everything I needed to replace my roof, my first problem was with customer service , when I had a problem with my receipt I was given the run around by multiple people then when I was being helped my receipt was pawned off from person to person while the associates went on helping other people. In the end it took 45 min to add some materials to my delivery that should have been on the delivery list in the beginning.(The shingles were left off my delivery list , 4000 lbs of shingles, the whole reason I was getting a delivery) After many associates, and a couple of managers the shingles were added to the list and the extra delivery charge was taken off my bill. Today im at home and everything was supposed to be delivered yesterday, however they called and said they were short on some of the wood so I said they could deliver it today , they agreed and said they would call first thing in the morning today im still sitting here at 1100 and have not heard a word and cant get ahold of anyone in the delivery dept. This is very unprofessional and I wont be spending any more money at lowes. read more
