Faddegons had almost everything we wanted. We went on Memorial Day at 2 pm and even though there were many shoppers, human "traffic" flowed nicely; everyone was courteous. They have large carts to load plants onto. The carts actually moved along smoothly. A knowledgeable staff member Kenny circulated to answer all of the questions customers had. He was patient and helpful. Purchased: Beautiful deep pink Hibiscus Tree for the Deck Organic Tomato Plants Dwarf Marigolds, Portulocca, and large red Spikes for pots on the front porch. Potting Soil A staff worker packed my car with plants and four bags of potting soil. There was a bee on a Marigold flower, and I asked him to get it to fly away. He did. The large Greenhouses were stocked with blooming healthy annuals and perennials. It was a sea of beautiful floral colors. One of the three Greenhouses had vegetable plants and herbs. They did not have Italian Flat Leaf Parsley, so I will look for it elsewhere. Checkout was organized and efficient. There were three checkout stations! read more

We went to this nursery because they had a specific native plant we were looking for. The whole place is quite nice, with a large greenhouse and outdoor space for the plants, as well as an indoor shop with different gifts; including books, shirts, small terrarium type pots with little succulents and cacti, ceramic pots, and other gift items. I've been to quite a few nurseries over the years, and Faddegon's is closer to a botanical garden than a nursery. Their new greenhouse, open this spring, is huge. Their sectiond of annual, perennial, fruit, sun loving, etc., and cute signs plus helpful and knowledgeable employees making shopping here an absolute pleasure. There's also the full selection of pots, soils, mulches, books, shirts, and anything else that one may desire. I was most impressed with their native native plant section. I have been slowly transitioning my yard to native plants, and have struggled to find native species, without resorting to mail order, which tends to stress plants out. I was in a pinch and needed pointsettias for Christmas. There was a very limited selection available early afternoon. However when you procrastinate you cannot complain! And I was able to purchase two potted poinsettias very easily. Two staff members greeted me and were helpful to speed up the experience. There were also trees garland wreaths and other decorations spreading a wonderful pine scent. The ornaments appeared to be a deep discount right before the holiday. I've seen some very helpful staff here, and any question a staff may not have an answer to, they'll try and find someone who does. They have an impressive variety of trees, plants, outdoor furniture, and gardening decorations and equipment, and their indoor plant selection is particularly inspirational. Having said that, prices overall tend to be higher than competitors, but clearly this hasn't stopped us from snapping up plants here...at all. In fact, we've often found that the extra $$ we pay is so worth the plants in optimal health that are ready to thrive in the new home. I am so impressed with Faddegon's. First, their customer service is beyond compare. I had purchased a Strawberry Vanilla Hydrangea Tree last summer. Planted it in a sunny spot in my lawn - a showcase piece. Mixed in some well-seasoned compost in the hole. Watered it daily. In short, I followed the instructions exactly. For whatever reason, the tree died over the winter which never should have happened. When I purchased the tree, I was told by the Faddegon's cashier that their trees are guaranteed. I dreaded calling them. I'm a Master Gardener and I felt like I had failed. To his credit, Josh told me to take a photo of the dead tree and he would exchange it for free. I went there today. Josh picked out a beautiful replacement tree - bigger and more expensive than my original one. He wrapped it and loaded it in my car (was a challenge!). Even exchange! I walked around their nursery. Their trees and plants are top notch. Best brands (e.g. Proven Winners) and everything was in excellent shape. Their prices are relatively comparable to other garden centers in our area. I will be going back there in a few days to purchase some perennials and maybe a fruit tree (none of which would have fit in my car with the Hydrangea). This is an incredible nursery. Anthropologie has plant/cafe store, only one, deep in Connecticut, called Terrain. I love it there but it's hours away. This is the same vibe, just no cafe (yet...I hope). Im almost inclined not to share this place because it's such a gem. So many plants, containers decorations, jewelry, scents...anything that leads to ambiance and hygge, they've got it. I was recommended to visit this place by a local and I'm so glad I did. Even walking around has been refreshing, since it's the dead of winter at 20* out. The employees are very warm and welcoming, and I see them out and doing things, like real things. They're either cleaning, helping customers or watering plants. A very energizing place, but from deep within. The type of energy that makes you feel relaxed and motivated at the same time. This is exactly the type of place I was seeking to replace where I used to go in the mid-Hudson Valley (Adams). Even though they haven't received all their spring plants as of this writing, it's set up so that you know exactly where they'll be once they arrive, and the staff know when they're expected. Staff have also been very helpful and quite knowledgeable. But years ago my supplier of bird food, Latham Agway, closed and Faddegon's took over supplying Feathered Friend brand bird food. That's when I truly became a regular customer. There is always a good selection of different Feathered Friend products in various sizes to meet your need. They also have a Feathered Friend loyalty program that gives you a discount after a certain number of purchases. And when Winter is approaching they send out a mailer that allows you to stock up on a supply of Feathered Friend products at a reduced price. Oh my goodness, if this place isn't plant heaven I don't know what is! Yes you read that correct even with the 2 stars I gave. Unfortunately I've gotten same/better quality at a much, much cheaper price. George's down the road had extremely healthy string of pearls for at most $8. At Faddegon's you're going to pay $20 and they aren't even perfectly healthy. I'm sure if you're going for more outdoors/big plants - this is the place for you. If you are a plant collector on a budget, I'd suggest somewhere else more price friendly. Also I would like to mention- not a single staff member in sight. I thought a few times I saw one but not sure if they are busy or what but they fly past you with out a look or a hello. I knew metro Albany had to have a first class nursery and finally I found it! Living in Delmar I have been disappointed by the slim nursery offerings in the immediate area. It simply did not make sense that the Albany metro area didn't have a first class nursery (one would expect several, but go figure...) During a recent visit to one of the underwhelming nurseries I asked the most competent salesperson there what she would suggest as the region's best nurseries and she said Faddegon's, hands down. The nursery is along quite a busy strip in western Latham. When you arrive you are suddenly in a very peaceful setting. You are impressed by an extremely handsome, tasteful, extensive, and well organized property that you are visiting. The selections are extensive; the plants are exceedingly healthy and well cared for. I had only been there moments when different sales people approached me. They were warm, they were incredibly well informed, they were helpful, and you could tell that they genuinely enjoyed their work and enjoy interacting with people. As a customer you feel valued and heard. I was thrilled to find an array of Japanese maples beyond the typical bronze; I was advised that they'd actually had a much wider array in May. Fortunately for me I have a small car, so it limited my feeding frenzy: I left with only two trees and six potted perennials. It is evident that this is going to become a costly habit. The inside is decorated beautifully with various plant related decor and items. These are 2 indoor greenhouses and a whole section outside for outdoor plants. Usually the staff let you shop but when asked they are very helpful and walk around and explain plant care and needs in depth. This was an amazing plant nursery store! Been back there twice since to buys more! Also the plant prices seem very fair. They also have a good variety or sizes of plants where you can get a small 4incb pot of pathos for 8-10 dollars where Lowe's or Home Depot will sell you a larger dying one in a hanging basket for closer to 20. Since I'm a beginner buying the smaller ones seemed more realistic! Also sell succulents, and cacti! read more

My mother had asked me to pick up a few "pink and purple perennials" as well as a lilac bush. Having no experience with flowers, I opted to stop at Faddegon's. Much to my dismay the shopping was being done by appointment only, but because they were not absurdly busy when I arrived they were able to accommodate me. The level of service throughout the shopping experience was unparalleled. Wendy was friendly, very knowledgeable and ... a dog lover! My 16 month old pupper (a vicious blue nose pitbull who might kill you with snuggles) was treated so nicely by the employees. A mystery since it's the biggest and obviously the best outdoor/indoor gardening store in the area. Well, here we go. The best plant-stuff store we've found in the area: one-stop shopping to satisfy your green thumb jones. Huge stock of indoor and outdoor stuff, including small houseplants, and cut flowers to boot. The stock seems to be rotated quite regularly, and they go to the half-off specials relatively quickly on annuals and older stock. They have quite a bit for more ambitious landscaping projects, and I was particularly happy to see they had a huge variety of hanging flowers. Gardening supplies - containers, stakes, small tools, soil, and so forth - are decent but not quite as plentiful as the big box stores, but on the third hand there are more "nice" options for things like pots and pieces for doing creative building blocks. Prices are decent but not in the deep discount arena. The staff knew their way around the place, but it was a little hard getting attention at first. And they have a crew with carts dedicated to helping you take things to your car. I'm close to giving them a fifth star but will reserve that to see how the plants do and whether our experience is born out by repeat trips, but so far so good - we're making it our destination for plants. read more

We collect sansevierias and have been doing it for many years now and We come from a country where we grow sansevierias as fences. I also sell sansevierias online. Each time my sister went to Faddegon's nursery we talk via FaceTime and I help her decide what to buy. In a month's time, We have spent close to $1000.00. buying 2 pots of Craigii, 2 pots of Sayuri, 2 pots of moonshines, some starfish, and some hahniis, Calatheas, hoyas, monsteras, pothos and more. I flew in from Miami mid September only to be surprised to see that the sans moonshine that she bought were badly damaged and 'abused'. I Since we know that faddegon's doesn't accept returns, I told my sister to be patient until new babies will pup up and they will be looking good. Three weeks has passed and each bay that was popping up were all diseased with rust. So we decided to return the moonshines only to be met by an unwelcoming staff and a doubtful manager of the day. Staring at us like we were thieves or crooks. I went this morning again to buy sansevierias and I was approached by the manager asking why the moonshines that we returned have been uprooted. I explained to her that we buy plants and we section and repot them. Instead of asking me for the reason of the return, she confronted me with that question. So I told her that they sold a plant to my sister which had Disease all over including all the new pups. At first, she insisted that they only sell plants in excellent condition. I said, no no no no, you don't, you sold us a diseased plant and I had to like force her to follow me to where the plants were and to show her what's not diseased and what's diseased. I wasn't gonna leave faddegons until I have proven my point, that's for sure, I didn't wanna convince her, I wanted her to recognize the problem and own it. Realizing what the problem was, she apologized and said she will tell her supplier about it. This was an unsettling experience for us. Being stared at and watched like a hawk by the staff that we are there to cause trouble when in fact we spend hard earned money, to the hundreds on their plants. I love their plants, I hate the staff read more
