Lowe's review? Sure. As far as a comparison goes with other Lowe's stores that I have been to in New York and other states, this one is operated at a very high standard. It is sure to have most anything that your home, lawn, property could need and then some. High-price items are locked up, as I was made aware there was some thefts happening during the floyd riots and post-pandemic. All the isles are spic'n'span and lunch hour is the time when some materials are rolled out on carts and restocked on shelves. On a few occasions I have needed some input with the lumber and garden departments and all the staff (old and new) were very helpful and kind - one woman even walked half the store to make sure I got my item! The one sticky point, is the return desk (3 stations) where, without any fail, late in the morning or late in PM; there's always a backed up line. I ordered 6 plants from Lowe's online on Monday, May 12th, that were stated to be only available in this manner and cannot be picked up at my closest store location in Glenmont, NY. The delivery service that Lowe's has contracted for advertised same day delivery is Instacart and added $15.00 to my order and was worth it for me. The plants that I ordered, Candytuft perennials, were on sale for $5.00 a piece and the site indicated 21 were available, plus delivery, plus tax bringing the total to $48 and change. I placed the order via PayPal. The plants arrived the next day, not the same day as promised but I was notified by shipment tracking of a delay. The plants that arrived were not what I ordered. Instead I received 6 Creeping Phlox, which were available at the Glenmont store. Instead of $5.00 a piece, these plants were $8.98 a piece, adding nearly 50% more cost with tax to my order. I was not notified of the switch. I was not asked for approval for the substitution or the greater cost. I originally thought a mistake was made selecting the plants and not a deliberate switch. The day that the Phlox arrived I called the store and spoke with seven different people about what I should do to correct this. No one was able to provide an answer. I was switched over to the "fulfillment center" line and the person who answered had no idea why the call was transferred to him as he was not the fulfillment center. He stated that he had no idea how to resolve the situation and I asked the speak to the store manager, Kevin. Instead, Kevin was not available and I spoke with the assistant store manager who introduced himself on the phone as Matt. Matt said he was unable to check on the matter as he was not near his computer. I gave him my number. I had grown frustrated by this point, but did not swear at him at any time but shared that becoming very aggravated. I just wanted to know who I should call to resolve this matter. He promised a return call. Two and half hours later into the latter part of the afternoon while I was attempting to do some other gardening, I gave up waiting and called back. Matt "schooled" me with impatient brusqueness that I "had no idea how busy he was and that he was on a forklift when I first called and then was busy helping customers." I reminded him that I was also a customer. He then said "I'm not some IT guy that sits at a desk in front of his computer all day. I'll get back to you when I have time. Apparently I'm the only one who knows how to fix this for you because I guess you think everyone else here is incompetent." I replied, "Whoa, you're really going to go there?" I then asked when did he anticipate being available. He said fifteen or twenty minutes. It is now two days later and I have not heard from Matt. Yesterday I called a Lowe's 1-800 support line that I found online and explained my situation. While helpful, Chante said I would have to bring the flowers into the store to receive a refund. I stated that Lowe's should contact Instacart to retrieve the plants. She said she was unable to provide that option. So now I'd have to travel to them which is what I could have originally done instead of ordering the plants that was stated not available for pick up. After our call ended, I called my bank to dispute these charges from Lowe's due to not receiving the correct product and creating an unauthorized charge. PayPal didn't allow me to get this far because the charge was still showing as pending and I wanted to nip this ridiculous nonsense created by Lowe's horrific customer service, unauthorized charge, and product switch in the bud. On Yelp, this Glenmont store location has only 2 stars, with most complaints stemming from poor and rude customer service. This is unfortunate as we've purchased many items from there over the years, but this fiasco and poor treatment has soured me on this enterprise. I've discovered how low Lowe's will go to great a customer like nuisance garbage. This store is absolutely horrible. I purchased a washing machine here and when it was to be delivered, the guys said it would not fit and took it back, despite my protests. Mind you, I already bought this machine. I went to the store and found out they took it to Connecticut, so I purchased another washing and asked for a refund for the other one. Now, they are complaining about giving my refund and say they will give me store credit, I dont want store credit, I want my money back. Now they are talking about the manager explaining in great lengths? These people are honestly idiots. Its not hard to process a refund. They are asking me to go to Connecticut to get a refund. I did not purchase my machine in Connecticut, I purchased it in Glenmont. Terrible buisness practices and terrible customer care. We have purchased approx $30000 of products and services over the years and this experience is almost comical. To say that the store staff does not care about customer service is an under statement. We purchased a dishwasher they came to install it was damaged. The installers said that they would be back the following week for a new install has now taken 4 weeks. Oh and they told my wife that it was against code now to have dishwasher hardwired so they sold her an outlet for $350 which what I understand is not true. Now the fun starts. We had someone stay out our house for the replacement which was confirmed by lowes with a phone call. They showed up and said it was a revisit which is only the case when an install is incorrect. I only found that out because when I called installations to see why they could not install the new one on the following Monday, I told about that revisit and they explained what that was. Now I had called the Glenmont store when the revisit occurred and Anthony who I can only assume is one of the supervisors argued with me saying he could not understand what a revisit was. He explained that Lowes would have not done that and he said the installers probably called. So I arranged to take the day off from work and anticipated a new dishwasher. Well it took 4 hours into the said delivery date to find out that they were not coming that day due to " these things happen". We called at 8 am to try to get a confirmation to when they were supposed to come. No answer. We called Lowes installation they called no answer. We called again no answer. Finally Lowes called and told us they were not coming today. Keep in mind they were supposed to call the day before and we did not get a phone call. I ordered a new dishwasher with installation. Was told that installation team would call the evening before to provide a service window. They called at 9pm the night before and hung up after I said hello. I called the number back and was told that they had to reschedule the installation date because they wouldn't be close to my area that day. Then they had nothing available for installation for several weeks. I ended up cancelling the entire order. Lesson learned. read more

Do NOT buy a custom order, laminate countertop from Lowe's. The quality is very poor. It came with laminate not glued in many spots, a tacky glue on the laminate surface. 2 side strips delaminated in the first 2 weeks. A chip in the laminate. 2 mitered corners that were joined unevenly. 2 missing clamps under the countertop. There's more problems, but you get the point. The Lowe's employee that I ordered it with was bumbling through the process, was annoyed when I made a change. Not a fan! There's 4 or 5 companies that you deal with, not just Lowe's. Went online to order begonias It said there were eleven left so I went in person. Nobody could "find" them. Their computers actually said they had 13! I wasted gas at today's prices driving from Latham to Albany to Glenmont, all because the website said they had them. I even called first and the monkey robot even said they had eleven in stock. Nobody had anything or knew anything and could not care less. Lowes owes me a quarter tank of gas for their lies. Going on facebook and twitter to let everyone I know to never to shop there! Never buy an appliance from Lowe's, Glenmont! They promise to install, but the people they send tell you they are delivery only. They begrudgingly hooked up the hot and cold lines to my washer. The hot water line was leaking when they left. I, a 73 year old disabled person, had to go get a ladder and a wrench and tighten the connections. Buy your appliances from a smaller operation where they actually follow through on their promises and do the work they promise to do. read more

Back in mid November I purchased a garage door opener and install from Lowes. Lowes farms out their door opener installs to Handy a.k.a. Angie's list. I was scheduled on November 30th 4-7pm. Contractor showed up after 6 and left at 8:30pm install incomplete. He admitted he had only done one garage door opener install once before. Had to reschedule a follow up appt to complete job on Dec 15th. Job appeared to be complete at that time. During the next 2 months the door would occasionally stop midway up or on the way down. On March 20th another appt was scheduled for March 24th between 9am and noon. Evening of March 22nd, Handy texted and changed my install to 4pm to 7pm. Had to spend at least 1 hour with phone calls to Lowes customer support and Handy to get a new date March 28th 9 to 12. Glenmont store washes its hands in the handling of install issues. Highly recommend NOT using LOWE'S for any projects where install is performed by Handy. read more

Repetitive epic fail. If I could give 0 stars I would. Lowe's often doesn't have what I need, are out of stock, the wood cutting machine is broken or nobody there is trained to use it. Hard to find staff, the staff you find don't have answers. Looking online to find items in their stores doesn't help--the shelf location listed is wrong and the stocked/available items are wrong. Even if you go to a Lowe's that says online it has an item, it may not. Good luck calling to get a human to help. A Lowe's manager has told me the inventory system doesn't work. Way to go Lowe's. This is the Lowe's my husband and I usually go to because it's the closest one to my house. It's a big box hardware store and I grown to not expect exemplary service. I once went in to buy a stove and the clerk couldn't have been any less helpful, buying a dishwasher was like a huge inconvenience to another salesperson but the worst by far was last weekend. My husband had ordered something online and we went to pick it up. The woman behind the service desk called someone to bring it from the back and we waited and waited and waited while 5 staff people stood around. After 15 minutes my husband went back to the woman and asked where it was. She'd assumed that one of the assistant managers who were standing there chatting had taken care of us but they were all too busy socializing. My husband finally walked up to the group and asked them if, when they were done with their conversation, could they bring us our purchase. It took a couple more minutes but we were finally out of there. What should have taken 5 minutes ended up wasting a half hour of my Saturday. read more

After our washer died after 14 solid years of service, my wife and I decided to replace it with an energy-efficient model. We took a trip to the Lowe's on Central Ave (behind Target), and found the one we wanted. Unfortunately, they were out of stock at the Colonie store. A very helpful associate (Heather) got on the phone with the Glenmont store, who had this particular model in stock, and we began the process of purchasing it over the phone. Unfortunately, they couldn't run our MasterCard as credit. They told us that It "came up as a debit card", and as a result, we had to take a trip to Glenmont to complete the purchase in person. No big deal. It was a sunny Saturday, and we had no plans, so off we went. We went right to customer service, where the transaction was completed quickly. We were told that delivery would happen within 48 hours, which was a welcome surprise. We'd been collecting all of our quarters for what were sure to be soul-sucking trips to the laundromat. A couple of days later, they gave us a call to let us know they'd be stopping by to install our new washer (and haul away our old one) between the hours of 11 and 3. I wish the window had been a bit smaller, but whatever. Two delivery guys came by, measured our doorways to determine the best route to our basement, then brought in and hooked up our new washer in about 90 minutes. Very professional. I wouldn't hesitate to have Lowes deliver and install any other large appliance. They were great. read more

If you ask to speak to a manager, they bring out a shift leader who doesn't know if they should scratch their watch or wind their as*! The people that work there, truly want to help. However, once a call for help at the paint desk (or any other department) goes off--they leave you hanging. Don't get upset with them. This is a diabolical, set in place by a corporate Fu*k that doesn't know the first thing about customer service. His reasoning was there was 1 item in my order that had to be shipped in. However when I called to see about the other items that were guaranteed next day, he never called me back after stating he would. I called again and he tried to make me believe everything had to be shipped in. When he realized I wasn't buying it he tried to say he couldn't print the order so I would have to wait 8 days for everything. I again called him out on that bs and finally he agreed to pull the items off the shelf and prepare them for pickup. I couldn't afford a sports car for my midlife crisis, so I went looking around for a refrigerator. After obsessively extensive research, I'd found Lowe's had the best price for the model I'd decided upon. Went to the store, stalked the appliance aisles, found the one I had my eye on. I opened and closed french doors, gingerly opened the bottom freezer, caressed stainless steel and lovingly ogled ergonomic interior design. The salesman approached, knowing he had a sure mark. And this is where things became amazing: he told me to wait a week to buy it because it was going on sale. If I'd wait a couple more weeks, he said it'd be further reduced fifteen percent for *another* sale. What commissioned sales rep ever uttered things like this? I took his advice and waited, delaying gratification. On the day of its free arrival, the delivery guys were pleasant and patient as they disassembled it to fit through a narrow doorway. They reattached the doors, and fitted the refrigerator into place. When they'd finished, one of them slid his hand admiringly across the door and whispered, "Man, this refrigerator is going to get you laid!" As they carted out the old fridge and left, I thanked them for their professional expertise, and at long last, I was alone with my new refrigerator. read more

Bought a Riding Mower, Gazebo and several outdoor sitting, set to be delivered after a few days that's been changed for a week then again been moved for another week. I even opened a credit card when they offered during this purchase. So frustrated and disgusted to be a first time Lower's customer here at this store. Because of this, now I haven't mowed for 3 weeks. Called customer service and nothing can be done but to again move the delivery date for some items weren't available anymore and the guy assembling the riding mower is not available. After visiting this store several times after purchasing my fixer upper in Selkirk I have to say I've never had the issues everyone else seems to be complaining about. When purchasing my appliances, the gentleman approached me and asked if I needed help. He spoke to me and my husband equally. I politely asked him to come back in 20 minutes when I was ready to pester him with questions. Approximately two hours later the poor man had satisfied all of my questions. Please do not be mistaken, I asked hundreds of questions about everything and he was very patient with us. Never pushed any sale on me. Then came remodeling my bathrooms. Diane had to deal with arguments from my husband and I and she gave advice on showers, toilets, vanities and sinks. She also giggled and told us people argued about those things and not to let it get the best of us. After about a week of being there every day, She knew our names, plus the names of our four children. Again, very polite and professional. Also purchased ceiling fans and bathroom fixtures. Mike was calm and cool as I drilled yet another person with question after question. His patience never wavered. I never had an issue getting someone to help us, even in the lumber section. Multiple reps and cashiers, and random people to help me load my pick-up. All pleasant and helpful. Going tomorrow for flooring and I'm confident it'll be a great experience. read more

All they can do is call them again and all we can do is wait. What kind of service is this? Lowe's finds this to be acceptable? They are not requiring customers to wear masks during the pandemic. Nearly a quarter of customers in the store on 7/4/20 weren't wearing masks as required by New York State, and the staff was doing nothing about it. We went to the Colonie Lowes for a new washing machine after our old one died. We had seen the ad for next day delivery and since we needed one asap, this sounded great. After waiting awhile for assistance, we were told the washer could not be delivered for about two weeks, since they were shorthanded. We asked about other Lowes stores and were told they had the same problem. Very poor management since appliance delivery is a key component of the sale. A trip to Home Depot yielded the same results. However, Best Buy had the same machine, same price and could deliver in four days! The Lowes store is great to buy small hardware or paint, but their customer service is lacking. read more

sigh. every time i go here i get confused. the service is so inconsistent, one time i will have 300 blue-vested (or whatever color they are) helpers all over me escorting me by leading me by hand to whatever i may need. or i get the grouchy old man that looks Past me as if there is no possible way that a mere Woman could possibly know what the heck to do with caulking so why even bother acknowledging her? or sometimes when i am overwhelmed by the multitudes of gorgeous household possible purchases and need some direction as i can't just grab everything and run up to the registers i can find nary a vest. just the other day i was there looking for some screws for my drawer pulls, the ones that came with them were not long enough as my drawers were custom made and thicker than normal 'cheap' ones (meaning i got ripped off for some extra wood or something) and i had the length i needed (1.75 in) and the width (i forget that part now) and NONE of the 800million drawers had what i wanted. this would have been a Fan-freaking-tastic time for the overwhelming assistance now wouldn't it be? but nope. none. i finally found what i wanted by mistake in a drawer with other screws (and then one pack had 4 instead of the 5 so i was rewarded. snort.) oh, the point of this is that today i went there and got lost and forgot where the door handles were (mixed up the store locations and home depot - don't even make me start on that one) and i had to ask for help. i luckily found the one helpful employee, whose first day it was. sigh. i don't know if i can win here. but they put crack in their receipts or something so i am sure i will be back. read more

I have been here roughly 5K times (or so it seems) in the past few months since I became a new homeowner, as this is the closest home improvement store to me. Unfortunately, I have very mixed feelings about this location - my experiences have me torn between giving a one-start review and a five-star review. Most days I come here, the staff greet me like we're old friends. And we sort of are, given the time I've spent with them. But really, they usually greet me and offer assistance rather than requiring me to hunt for them. They are generally quite helpful and willing to look for an answer if they don't know offhand. And then there have been a few experiences that make me never want to go back here. And recently, I've been shopping elsewhere out of principle becuase I don't like some of the treatment I've received, which I interpret as sexist. There have been a few times that sales associates approached my husband and I to offer assistance, and they spoke only to him. This irritates the crap out of me, but I let it slide. The most recent and most obnxious offense occurred a few weeks ago when the husband and I split up during our shopping trip to save some time. I was in the knob/ handle aisle looking for a gate hook and eye, but only found one variety. Just then a sales associate approached and offered me assistance. I held up the item in my hand and simply said that I was looking for other similiar options. Without pause or hesitation, he told me that I should "go someplace arts-and-craftsy like Michael's". I was a bit taken aback by this response... and he quickly followed with a curt "Is that all?" I said 'yes' and he left. I was initially only agitated by this exchange, but I became angry when I found several other types of hook-and-eye closures in the next aisle over with the screws. I can't be sure whether he didn't know the merchandise or if he just didn't want to show me, but he was awfully quick to tell me to go "somewhere arts-and-craftsy". I was PISSED. My husband actually made a complaint about this incident, and the store manager called him to apologize. That was very good. But the real kicker is that the store manager didn't need my husband to describe this shitty sales associate, because he KNEW WHO IT WAS. Which means to me that this is not his first go 'round with this type of problem. Which means that sales associate shouldn't be employed there anymore. Amiright? The year is 2013. I can cook, clean, work full time, lift heavy things AND fix what's broken around the house... all despite having a vagina. So I spend my hard-earned money at Home Depot whenever I can, even though it's several miles out of the way. read more

They showed up unannounced. They lost the measurements and showed up again to retake the measurements. THEN the guy came in and yelled at me for not having already picked out the carpet we wanted? No one ever asked or showed us carpeting they told us to have it measured?? Why would someone think that he could walk into a customers home and yell at them. Then tell us he is the head of the carpet installations? We just moved into the area with plenty of projects planned for our new home but service will over ride convenience and I'll will be traveling to get the help to get them done. read more

I ordered a new dryer on June 9th and it was delivered on June 24th. I was told it would be 10 days. After 2 weeks went by I called the store and was told I was scheduled for delivery the following day. I said well no one called me yet. I was told they would call in am - they never called - I told them to call my cell and they called my house phone. Anyways the guys who delivered it were great when they called directly they were tremendously nice and we worked out a mutual time. I have a complicated dryer hook up and they spent 2 hours making sure it was hooked up properly. They were terrific and went out of there way to assist. After the delay and poor communication regarding the delivery from the store - the delivery men - Joey and Joel restored my faith in Lowe's. Thanks so much gentleman. read more

Do not go here for carpet. I have trusted Lowe's in the past, so I thought it was a "no brainier" to have them install my carpet. Fool me. They charged me $35.00 for an estimate plus an additional $15.00 because my house was built before 1980. They said this was due to led poisoning, however, they have never seen any houses with this substance in them. My question is, why charge an additional amount of money if there is no issues! I gave them the $50.00 and a few days later a guy came out and looked at the space. The estimate came out ridiculously high. I have since called around to other warehouses. To my surprise most carpet places provide a free estimate. So Is my $50.00 mistake. For a single mom of 2, who works 2 jobs, this was a big mistake. I want to save you the financial $50.00 loss I incurred. Shame on Lowe's. They should not be trusted with flooring! read more

I went in several times over the last month and asked to talk to the store manager to tell them how nice the employee was but he was never there. Lowe's is a good company but spend the extra 20 minutes to go to another location. We find the Central Avenue to be very accommodating but have heard from friends that the other locations are also. The floor staff in Glenmont are rude, hanging in groups chitchatting while you have to wait and excuse yourself to ask where something is located, then you are lucky if they give you the correct aisle. Forget about being walked to the location as they do in the other locations. It has to be blamed on bad management because the floor staff are all like this, and this has been observed by several people over the last few years. My most recent visit, we waited for 25 minutes as we were next being served in bathroom supplies. Then a guy from another department cut in to ask a question and the one person in the bathroom department started to walk away with him, leaving us. I finally lost it and said EXCUSE ME - WE HAVE BEEN WAITING PATIENTLY AND YOU ARE WALKING AWAY LIKE WE ARE NOT HERE? He came back and searched on line for the sink we wanted. We were told there was a misorder and we would need to drive to a store close to Boston to find the sink in the next day. Instead we went up to the Central Avenue Lowes to look at what sinks they had available. I wish I could give zero stars and this is based on multiple visits. Customer service is non existent and often rude. One example: I need a piece of wood (dimensions) given. It is to go in a closet so that I can install a closet rod so I don't care the type of wood. Lowes representative "nothing you said just now makes any sense to me". This was the second person I spoke with because the other guy who was standing around said well I'm not sure- it's going to be a really long wait. No one was using the wood cutter and there were plenty of employees around. I went to make a complaint to the manager. They gave me a phone number for a voicemail. Are you kidding me?! I'll be sticking with Home Depot- there prices and options are better and at least 95% of the time I find someone who can answer a question. So annoyed! read more

I have mixed feelings about this store... Sometimes I get fantastic service and excellent products and other times, I am ignored and treated as a "dumb" female. I will say their rose plants were gorgeous and were a lovely addition to my garden last summer. That being said, when it came time to buy appliances, the men in my life (husband and father) both seemed to gain more ground in that dept than I did. Also I wish they would train their key cutters better as I recently had keys made, tested them and 3 out of the 4 keys I had made, failed to work. I was able to return the keys and get a refund but it's an inconvenience on the customer to have to return non working keys and to have another set made. Also, it would have been nice if I had been asked if I wanted keys recut instead of getting a straight refund... From now on I go to the local town hardware store to have all keys made. read more
