Kids Workshop Saturdays at Lowe's. This was a FREE event. I liked the idea of getting the kiddo out the house to a little Mommy and Me time. Inside of Lowe's is clean. I approached the first associate I saw and mentioned the workshop. They were not aware of the event. After a couple of radio calls we were directed to the garden center. We were handed a bag and told to sit down and jump right in. It is not instructor led. The project was building a lawnmower. The contraption was to be made with precut wood, coordinating nails and a hammer. The image leading project was not easy to understand because there was no way to guarantee the pieces aligned. I asked one of the associates for help and was told they did not know how to do the project and it was one of their harder projects. The average age of the attendees was maybe 6. After only one parent finishing the project within the hour I was there. I left like others with an unimpressive unattractive unfinished lawnmower. A thought came to me to just finish it at home. I asked for wood glue, and a Red Vest bc my daughter to place her badge on it, and if I could purchase the hammer. This an added to an additional 40 mins to an hour of just frustration. I would not recommend anyone to go to this workshop unless you want to participate yourself. read more

Went to get a multi fuel generator at the Butler Plaza Lowes. My husband is a Veteran, and is supposed to get a Veterans discount . The two guys who were helping us take the generator out to our car helped us at the register to pay for the generator, and get the discount. Apparently, the generator we got wasn't multi- fuel, so we brought it back to get one that was-and while we were paying for the replacement, found out we didn't get any discount on the last generator, even though the two guys said we did get the discount. Neither my husband or I looked at the receipt after we purchased it- next time before we leave the store, we will. I do not appreciate being lied to. We visited because we needed plumbing supplies to repair our washing machine pipes and valves. Hubs went looking for the supplies while I aimlessly browsed the store. We recently moved into our new home and need A LOT of things. There is no carpeting and my dog loves to do carpet scratchies so I found a shaggy rug for her! We then went browsing in the appliance section. We have been searching for months now for basically anything you need. The refrigerator that came with the house might be older than me so that was a necessity. We decided on a whim to purchase one during this visit. Since I have maxed out most of my cards from this move, I used a $250 Lowes gift card, and split the payment with two credit cards. Carlos was very personable and helpful with our checkout. Carlos scheduled out delivery and made sure we had all the parts we needed. He also rang us up for other items we were purchasing. It was close to closing time so we did not spend too much time browsing. We stopped on our way out to look at the garden section but didn't get to browse too long. We left quickly after and the staff acknowledged us when we were walking out. The refrigerator was delivered on the day it was scheduled. There was no damage. The two delivery men were super quick and very good at getting the fridge in the door. We were actually in awe of how amazing they were. read more

I have never been met with such incompetence at a large corporate store in my life. First they misled me to get a credit card, "you get 20% off your purchase!" then after I applied and got approved for 2 toilets and faucets and free install they said "I TOLD you it was only up to $100." Then the rebate was messed up so I had to come back next day. Then there were more problems. Then I was told they'd deliver Fri morning, so I waited around, and no one showed. I called Taylor, again, and she didn't apologize but rather said, "the system kicked back ... la de da...now they will deliver Monday" This was my only experience with Lowe's, other than a small purchase. An employee stole from my father at this Lowe's (store 3278). The manager, Jeff, had no concern about the theft. The item was a Gerber multitool that was given to my Dad from a family member that has passed away recently. My Dad left the Gerber at the pickup counter where only one employee was working and when we came back about an hour later the tool was gone. The employee said she checked the footage and said a customer stole the tool. After getting no answers from her, I called the manager Jeff a day later and he said he didn't see anything on the security footage. We have been told that it is "Lowe's store policy to never show customers security footage or give out employee information." Called their corporate and after a week of doing nothing they told us to file a police report to see the footage. Forget disciplinary action, it would have been easy for corporate to get us our tool back. They wouldn't even tell us what happened. A giant reason we got screwed is because there has been an enormous amount of racial tension from most employees at this Lowe's, directed at me and my white family. The ladies on the phone for corporate and Jeff the manager were of the same attitude: the theft doesn't matter because people of my type-white people-can't really be stolen from. There is hardly any representation for the type of man that shops at Lowe's: the employees do not reflect the customer ratio. As a result, customer service will ruthlessly protect their own people while basically telling my family and my Dad to fuck off. Don't bother with Lowe's. We get ten times the service and know-how (from employees that reflect the type of shoppers) at Ace or Harbor Freight. I hope Lowe's customers will start to reflect the type of employees they've been hiring-then maybe this company will care more about a complete loss of integrity and theft. I know for a fact that if a white person like me were to steal from Lowe's, they would have charged me for the theft and I would be arrested and thrown in a jail cell that day. read more

The lumber selection is just abysmal. They want to charge an arm and a leg for twisted pressure treated lumber. I wouldn't give them a nickel for some of the wood they sell. I am bulding a pump house for a friend and I went in looking for some 4x4 PT and 2X6 PT lumber, what was left was twisted and bent. Being that the 2x6 PT boards would be visible, I needed them to be as straight as possible. They flat out refused to open a new bundle until the old boards were sold. I asked for a supervisor to make a complaint, and he was nonchalant about it. Ended up going to another hardware store in Bell to pick up what I needed. The wood there was better and straighter than what Lowe's wanted to pawn off on me. read more

Came in on 5/1 and bought a washing machine to be delivered the next day. *After* the 9:30-1:30 delivery window, I get notified that the washer washer was broken and a new one had to be delivered with my delivery delayed to Wed. 5/4. Again, *after* the delivery window, I called the Jax warehouse and was told the washer was not out for delivery and I needed to call the Gainesville store for more; information. So I call the store, and after 30+ minutes on hold get a totally uncooperative guy in appliances who can give me no information except that delivery has be rescheduled again for Fri. 5/6. When I asked about a refund so I could buy a washing machine from a place that actually had them, I was told it would be 5-7 days before I could get my money back. So now I'm waiting for Friday and I will never set foot in a Lowe's again. Save your time, money, and frustration and buy from Amazon, who actually knows how to both sell and deliver. read more

I ordered an oven about 4 months ago. I got the Lowes credit card so I could get free financing on it at the same time that I ordered the oven. I was told that the oven would be in in a few weeks. A month went by and I got the bill for the oven but no oven. I called the store to ask when the oven would be in. They said, in 4 weeks. So I waited another 4 weeks. No oven but another credit card bill. Each time I tried to call the store no one would answer the phone. I went to the store and stood there waiting for help but no one was there. I kept calling but no one answered. I asked for a manager and was told he was busy. Today...4 months later I got another bill for the oven that I do NOT have. Had to call to sort that out. I tend to go to the garden section. They have a good selection of fruit trees, in summer only. (Winter is planting time in Florida, to beat the heat.) Today, as I'm here, they've put the seed display out in the garden section. Then they hosed down plants near it, and also hosed down all the seed packs. So, all those seeds new and packed for 2019 are ruined. With the damp paper envelopes, they will sprout in the envelope this week, or get moldy, and then be ruined if you try to plant them later. It's wrong to sell stock you know is bad, and that's what they are doing, taking something bad and selling it as new and good to unsuspecting customers. read more

I have been a Lowe's customer for over 30 yrs. Why has their customer service gone down the tubes? I placed an order via website (NE Gainesville store) early in the morning for 6 patio chairs. My order status shows they are working on it. Come 5 pm I go to the store and manager tells me they are still working on it. I go to the garden and purchase a few items. I return to Pick-Up desk and I am told order is still being worked on. Fifteen seconds later I speak to manager and he tells me they only have 2 chairs in inventory. I ask if they can order the other 4 from Lowes at Butler Plaza. No. You would have to place order with them. I cancel my order. I go home and call Lowes at Butler Plaza. Customer service rep tells me my card is cancelled. I tell her that's not correct. I had to give her my account number 4 times before she got it right. I proceeded to placing my order. Following morning I get email and text message my order is ready for "pick up". I rush over during my lunch break to find that there is no order ready. Customer service rep at the Pick Up station has no idea what's going on. I tell her I could see the chairs stacked up outside. She goes to get help and I bring my car around. The chairs are released from their security device and I HAVE TO LOAD THEM INTO MY CAR MYSELF. There was no offer to help me. No thank you. No come back to see us again. We bought a 16" craftsman chain saw from this store what a big mistake. The first one the next day after our purchase the pull start would not ingage, so we were allowed to exchange it for another one. The next day after bringing the second one home it had the same problem with the pull start not engaging. I called the store and told the problem we were having and the manager informed me that they shouldn't have taken the first one back and in a really snotty tone told me that once you take them out the door itnot there problem if it's defective take it up with the manufacturer. Long story short had to pay 60 bucks for it to be cleaned and the warranty would not cover. Assumed the item I was returning was missing pieces, and then processed my refund incorrectly so I had to go up and deal with her a second time because she doesn't know how to count. Ordered a custom window and in-stock patio door for install. Initiated May 2023 and after corresponding multiple in-person visits (measure, re-measure, delivery (but didn't deliver), second deliver, 3 different install dates to no avail) the window and door were installed 7 MONTHS later. Stay away from this store. Go to Butler plaza (maybe they have different project coordinators). No one seemed to care about the numerous delays. I constantly had to follow up with rep to get this project moving along. I was coordinating all delivery and corresponding install. No communication between departments. 3 full days of having to be available for access were completely wasted on my end due to delays, non-communication and no show. Lowe's isn't my favorite big box home improvement store of the ones available to me in Gainesville, but I had a gift card so it's where I went. Since I am not a regular I don't know the store as well as my normal go to. I had to ask for directions to find what I was looking for, which as most people know requires a merit badge in tracking to find someone. Once someone was finally located, it was quick and easy to get my items and check out. They should have had more staff around, especially since the holiday season for increased shoppers is days away. While this trip didn't require any "expertise", in the past their staff has been found wanting in expertise as well. read more

DO NOT BUY SERVICES FROM THEM. I ordered tile and instillation. They told me I wouldn't have to leave my home but they were there until 9 almost every night for a week and a half. Forcing me to get a hotel. Not to mention the fact that they unhooked my fridge and stove the first day and didn't put it back until the 5th day. Then took apart all my bedroom furniture and DIDN'T put it back together (even though they were paid to do so). So now me and my 9yo daughter are stuck with beds we cant put back together. Do not use Lowe's subcontractor flooring installer named "Legacy". Daniel installed our laminate flooring and he did an awful job! Left me with permanent scratches throughout the floor bec of the work shoes he was wearing. He also left me with uneven placement of the planks that needed to be redone. Definitely poor quality of work and poor customer service from Legacy except a lady named Lydia. Do not use Lowe's. Just use your local contractors to install your floor laminate. Legacy will let you wait too long to fix the problem. They will put you on a forever hold, they promise to come but will not show up. You have to call them to follow-up rather than they call you to update you what is going on. A big mistake not to use our local installer. I thought through Lowe's service will be much better. This Lowes store service is absolutely pathetic. Spent almost $15000.00 for cabinets and install. Took forever for the install to take place, I am talking weeks after receiving the cabinets. Installer was to give us two days for the process. Upon removing the old cabinets there was an issue with the Sheetrock behind the sink that needed to be repaired. This was on the supposed two days the sales lady told us. That same day we had the wall repaired and the installers left telling my wife and myself that he will come back in the future to install the cabinets, " he will try to work us in". We have the countertop people coming in on the following Tuesday to make template to finish the install, the cabinet installer left on a Wednesday. Here we sit with all cabinets removed, no stove, boxes all over the house filled with cabinets and our kitchen pots, pans and such, no sink waiting until God knows when we will be worked in. We contacted the supposed customer service number and with them was basically we have your money, sorry. if you deal with this store you better have an attorney on speed dial. PLEASE DO NOT DUE BUSINESS WITH THIS STORE. OR BUYER BEWARE. read more

Well for those of use who remember the locally owned hardware store those days seem to be gone. There are a few Ace hardware stores still hanging on and others like Zells. But Home Depot and Lowes like walmart have driven the smaller locally owned ones out of business. Personally I like the 13th street Lowe's better than the Archer road location. Probably because it's larger and things are organized better. We went to the nursery section today to do some plant shopping. They had a very good selection, and the prices were very low compared to other places we have recently shopped. One thing I really really like is Lowes is very supportive of the military. As long as you have your military ID you get 10% off no questions asked. So we got our 10% off which helps pay for taxes and save a little bit. read more

Silvia is a great example of what NOT to do, and of making a customer feel crappy - she works slowly, which made it awkward waiting for her to return to the register. She was unwilling to fix a mistake, not realizing or caring to realize that a mislabeling of an item price is the store's fault, not the customer's. I suggest Lowe's consider accepting some of the superior customer service skills from Home Depot. Definitely sticking to Home Depot for my home improvement needs. read more

Ah, Lowe's. Your commercials are so cute. The reality is so different as to be completely laughable. When I bought a refrigerator from this store, it came right on schedule just as promised. The problem was that the new unit had a water dispenser and the old one didn't. The delivery men highly recommended that I buy a new water line, as the previous occupants of our house hadn't exactly cleaned behind the unit much. (They had managed a pretty impressive collection of kids' toys, dust bunnies, dog biscuits and general filth, but I'm not one for collecting.) I went back to Lowe's that same night, bought a water line, and placed a request for delivery to return for the installation. According to them, that's part of their service. *chuckles* 1. After one week and no call/no show, I returned to the store and spoke with the appliance manager, who rescheduled a visit. The man said with a straight face, "You know, you could have just called this in." Me: "..." 2. After one more week and no call/no show, I returned to the store and spoke with an appliance employee who immediately directed me to customer service. (I probably had the crazy look on my face again. Wise man.) Customer service called for a manager and we all waited for about ten minutes before one showed up. They said (and I quote) "We assure you that you will get a call on Monday." 3. Monday (yesterday), no call/no show. My husband suggested that I call the store. This time they connected me directly to deliveries and I spoke with the same man who had installed the unit originally. When he showed up, he said something I expected and something that I didn't. I figured that he had never gotten a message to return to my house, and he said that he hadn't. He then said, "But that's becoming pretty common at this store." Maybe it's becoming common to the industry as a whole. I may be closing my credit account with them shortly. The products are fine and the people are helpful enough while you're physically in the store, but if you need any help after the sale, bring patience and a relatively good sense of humor. I've consistently been disappointed with my experience at the Lowe's on 13th st. Tonight my experience was so bad that I decided to take the time to provide this feedback. My complaints are the following: 1) The store is always understaffed. I always need to spend a lot of time wandering the aisles to find someone to help me find the products I need. 2) When I do find someone they rarely have the savvy/training to answer questions adequately. 3) Many store employees are not friendly -- tonight two in particular were rude, Michelle at the self check-out and another older male employee. One exception was David in paint, who was friendly and helpful. I've recently started driving several extra miles to go to the Home Depot north of the Lowe's on 13th. While it is an inconvenience to drive farther, the service is there outstanding. Take note. read more

There are several pluses and minuses about this Lowe's: On the positive side; 1) There is hardly anyone shopping there; 2) they usually have what I need; 3) prices are decent; 4) no waiting in line. On the negative side: 1) Besides the paint department and Sean it is hard to find anyone to help you that really knows what they are talking about; 2) They sometimes run out of things, like a replacement string cartridge for a string trimmer that they sell. If you know what you want and want to get in and out fast, then this is usually the place to go. read more
