As a big-box store chain location you can be assured that they have whatever you are looking for, in a dozen different sizes, colors and shapes - and they have more than twice the number that you need. For that, and the convenience of being in my neighborhood, I have given one more star than actually deserved.
I am NOT. OKAY. with being treated like an idiot.
Yes, I have boobs. I am a girl. These two facts do not preempt me from have a brain, or the requisite knowledge and ability to fix anything in my house on my own. Many women come to a marriage with furniture or dishes - I came with power tools and an extension ladder. I am SICK. AND. TIRED. of the staff in this store talking down to me, making snarky or derogatory comments towards me, or simply ignoring me or flat out refusing to help me WHEN I GOT OUT OF MY WAY TO ASK FOR IT.
There are at least half a dozen examples of their outrageous customer DIS-service, but I'm going to leave you with just two:
Example one: in the the tile department, I needed a small amount of grout in a similar color to patch a few gaps in my bathroom tile where the contractor who flipped my house had overlooked. I don't need a lesson on how to grout. I don't need a suggestion on who to call to do it for me. I'm not afraid of getting messy - I'm going to put some grout on my finger, push it into the gaps, and smooth it over. Poof! Done. I found the giant bags of it, but I needed someone to tell me where to find the smaller amounts of it. I really didn't need some know-it-all to tell me that I need to rip up the whole bathroom because there was already going to be water damage because of the leaks. I mean, seriously? I moved in the night before. The shower had never been used. Not once. Either you're an over-reacting head-case or a jerk trying to rip-off some unsuspecting person. Seriously. I didn't ask for your opinion. I asked where the smaller amounts of grout where. When I politely cut you off, in an attempt to help you save your breath, do NOT shrug your shoulders, mutter "whatever" and walk away from me.
Example two: in the blinds department, I needed to buy two more sets of blinds to match the ones I'd bought only a month before to go into my two other windows of the same size. I'd found what I needed, but they are the biggest (and I'll have you know, the most expensive) blinds you sell and they are up too high for a little girl like me. So, I go up to the woman in the department (who was in the processes of helping someone else), I politely interrupt and ask if I might get some help when she's through. To which this employee looks me square in the eyes and says, "I am busy helping someone ELSE right now." Riiiiiiiiight. I can see that. So I smile and say, "That's fine. I can wait." She huffs off - I guess she was attempting to blow me off, but she gets on her telephone and pages someone else to come help me. Fine. Totally fine. And five minutes later TWO people show up! Awesome. We manage to get down these two sets of six-foot-long, solid wood blinds... and they start to walk away. Ok. I am all about doing stuff myself. But seriously? There are two big men here and you're going to let the five-foot-two chick literally DRAG these boxes to the front?! After visibly struggling for several feet on my own, one of the two associates does eventually come to me rescue and he drags the boxes to the cashier and outside the front door. Wow.
In the end, what it boils down to is this: it's a huge store with LITERALLY everything I will ever need for my house. But I also have to keep in mind that it's full of venom-spitting, woman-hating, snark-monsters. Buyer beware. Literally. read more
