Unfortunately, the deli sandwich itself fell short of what I had hoped for. The portion was generous, but the selection was somewhat limited. I ordered mine on what was described as a "hard roll," but there was nothing hard or crusty about it. It seemed to be ordinary soft bread shaped into roll form--fluffy, nearly tasteless, and without the character or soul of a proper Italian roll. It detracted considerably from an otherwise generously made sandwich. The retail-brand white and wheat bread displayed for customers who wanted sliced bread should probably have been a clue that authentic Italian loaves were not part of the deli selection. Since it is tomato season, I was also disappointed that the tomato and all produce on my sandwich's. They tasted as though they had been nearly frozen - bought cheaply as commodities. Like the bread, unimportant to the sandwich experience ? Two stars overall: two for the genuinely tremendous people and one for the history, authenticity, and wonderful old-school character of the store. There is a great deal to appreciate here, and I will gladly return--but next time, I'll explore the prepared foods and specialty items rather than the deli sandwiches.

They were helpful, responsive, and everything was clear and upfront. There were no surprise charges, or "gotchas". In fact they did several things beyond the scope of the contract without additional charges. More importantly, on the wedding day everything went perfectly. They gave us great advice on the set up of the tables, chairs, bar etc. They listened carefully to everything that was asked of them, made a couple of outstanding suggestions and dealt with the problems caused by strong gusts of wind at an outdoor venue with calm assurance. All of the food was incredible. The hor's d'ourves were fantastic, especially the brie and artichoke tarts, mini lobster rolls and tuna tacos. The mac and cheese in mini ramekins were also a huge hit. The dinners were equally delicious. I had the half chicken, which was served with a delicious polenta. It was absolutely amazing. Perfectly cooked, moist with a crispy skin. Other sides were served family style and were all fantastic. The dessert was also superb. Each guest received a trio of mini desserts, each of which was delightful. We had several guests with food restrictions (vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free). The servers made sure the restrictions were observed, and they made it a point to bring appropriate appetizers to those guests, which was a very nice touch. All of the guests raved about the food. The service was also first class. There were so many servers handling the passed hor's d'ourves that every guest had multiple chances to try each of the offerings. Service of the dinner was equally impressive. The venue is outdoors, and it is a bit of a hike from the kitchen tent to the dining area. Despite that, the guests were served quickly, and the food came to the table still hot. Finally, their prices are quite reasonable, especially given the outstanding quality of the food and service. We moved to the Northwest Corner of Connecticut about two years ago and one off the things we missed most about Texas was the BBQ. We have tried most of the big names and local BBQs in CT, MA, and NY and were continually disappointed. For some, we simply could not finish eating, complete garbage. My wife and I love waterfalls and state parks and were visiting Burr Falls. On the way back we saw Zach and Lou's BBQ and decided to take a chance. Well, it was one of the best decisions I made and was well worth the stop. Brisket was tender, juicy, not a lot of fat, and not over powering, just the right blend and smoked to perfection. I was new to Smoked Pork Belly Burnt Ends and I now have a new favorite meet. These things are like crack for your taste buds. I will back again, again, again, and again! Both meats were mostly tender. The pork belly the parts that were not the yummy juicy fat were sort of hard. The sides were excellent. The size was on the smaller size but was surprisingly perfect. We opted for the mac and cheese. It was made with large shells and was nice and creamy. The potato salad was small diced potatoes which differs from how Im used of potato salad but I really liked it. The potato salad has diced onion and celery it was just perfect!
