However, to my surprise it wasn't greasy at all and was so mouthwateringly flavorful that after the 1st half I was full but I just couldn't stop taking one more bite until next thing I knew I devoured the entire sandwich. TBH I have been thinking and craving another sandwich since. Finally today 2 days later I decided to just go for it and give into this intense craving but the restaurant was closed. I tried to hunt down the food truck but unfortunately it wasn't out; so I'll have wait & try the restaurant tomorrow. The truck was super clean, the line moved very quickly and my order was ready w/I a few minutes. Oh and the guy working was crazy friendly and super cool about the modifications I requested. After looking at their menu I can't decide between the Avomelt, Caprese, Spinach artichoke dip or tomato bisque. I guess I'll just have to make a few visits when family comes to try them all. They have a lot of vegetarian options which is great especially considering lots of restaurants have a very limited vegetarian offering. Extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience…read more We contacted The Whey Station Food Truck on June 22, 2026, about catering our Jack & Jill event on September 5, 2026. Josh responded on July 6 confirming that they were available that day and said he would contact the brewery to work out the details. We provided the brewery contact information on July 8. After not hearing anything further, we followed up on July 24 to confirm the details. Josh did not respond until August 3, when he explained that they would only be able to serve our party and that, in order for it to make sense for them, there would need to be a minimum. We immediately asked what minimum he expected. It took another 14 days, until August 17, for Josh to tell us that his normal catering minimum was $850. We explained on August 19 that we were comfortable covering up to $400 and that, with approximately 100 guests, another food truck, and light appetizers, we expected the two trucks to handle the food for the event. At no point did Josh clearly tell us that he was declining the event, that our $400 offer was unacceptable, or that he considered the booking canceled. He also never told us that a deposit was required to confirm the booking or that, without one, he would not show up. Then, on September 5 (the actual day of our event) Josh and The Whey Station food truck simply did not show up. I called Josh when we realized the truck was not present, and he did not return our call. Instead, he eventually sent a message stating that he "never agreed to come," that a deposit had not been paid, and therefore the event was not contracted. Regardless of whether Josh personally considered the booking finalized, this is not an appropriate or professional way to handle a catering commitment. If he had concerns about the arrangement, disagreed with our proposed minimum, required a deposit, or did not intend to attend, he should have communicated that clearly before the event, especially after we had repeatedly followed up trying to finalize the details. The biggest issue isn't that we couldn't come to an agreement on the catering minimum. The issue is that he left us with the impression that the arrangements were still being worked out and then, without clearly telling us that he was not coming, no-called-no-showed on the day of a major event. For an event that had been discussed for more than two months, this was incredibly frustrating and put us in a very difficult position with our guests. We would not recommend The Whey Station based on this experience. Clear communication and timely confirmation are the bare minimum when dealing with someone's scheduled event. 2-3 week response times to emails are unacceptable.

After my negaitve experience trying to schedule/coordinate with them (I should add, he will be very easy to deal with until your deposit hits his bank account), I finally did the due diligence of looking into this business. There is no insurance, business registration, or health department records. If I had a Delorean, I would go back before dealing with him to ensure I save myself the headache.

Owner/chef - really nice and lots of wonderful experience cooking. The food - so good . I had the butternut squash soup and my husband had the chicken wrap. Lots of chicken in it 2 comments to make it even better: 1. Add some crackers or a chunk of sourdough bread to go with the soup. 2. Double the wrap or use a thicker wrap for the chicken sandwich. We will go back & try their breakfast sandwiches at some point. And going forward, maybe even take one of the cooking classes they offer. Good luck!

It was established in 1959 and soon became a popular destination for Meriden's many factory workers who worked around the clock. Td's stayed open until 4 AM to accommodate them. Ted's doesn't fry their burgers in a pan or grill them on a grill. Nope - they steam them in a steel cabinet and serve them with a scoop of melted cheese and your choice of free toppings, like ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce tomato, chopped onions, pickles or even bacon. Their food truck is named "Steam Machine" and it was at Cheshire Craft Brewing today. In fact, it's there every Friday night and weekends. It can also be found at Hartford area attractions like Bushnell Park, the Xfinity Theatre, and at Pratt & Whitney Stadium for UConn Huskies football games. It's an old truck, that has been refurbished, has a cool history and has been in business as a red hot dog truck for over 50 years. Maggie's has hot dogs, kielbasa and chili. They also have drinks, chips and cookies. Maggie's uses Mucke's natural casing dogs, which is definitely not something that most CT places use. Maggie's does not have any specialty hot dogs per se, but they do have their own chili and some other standard toppings to choose from. I ordered a hot dog with chili and mustard. I haven't had a Mucke's in a while. It seemed like it was probably steamed. Good flavor. Good snap. The chili sauce was meaty and tasty. Definitely above average for CT. The mustard was good too. Robert "Red" McCormick later rescued and restored it, and it's been serving hot dogs for more than fifty years now. At this point it's basically a local icon for those who know, and can be found over on East River Drive in East Hartford. The menu is simple--hot dogs, kielbasa, chili, drinks, chips, cookies--and that's exactly the right call for a place like this. I had two hot dogs and both were great. Quick service, good flavor, and they were wrapped well enough that I had zero concerns about anything spilling on the way back to the office. I am fussy about my BBQ and have not usually found much to cheer about in CT (I do like Pig Rig and my own). These folks had their smoker right out back of their food truck; it's a beautiful thing to behold and the smell of genuine smoked-right-there meat was enough to get us to the counter. The turkey legs were just coming off the smoker and the burnt ends were on-the-way, so we waited ~20 minutes (worth it!) to get an order of those. When they say the turkey drum is ginormous, they are serious (see photo) and the flavor!!! The true art of BBQ is not how much gooey sauce you can slather onto a piece of meat or how spicy you can make the rub. It's all about getting a balanced flavor from the smoke. You can't duplicate this from a bottle and it really takes someone with experience to make the smoke and the meat dance like this. YOU MUST try the turkey legs if you can get one. If not, the burnt ends are really done well. Not quite the same burnt ends you would get at a good Texas BBQ place, but certainly the best I've had outside of Texas. Aside from the cool name, What The Truck BBQ is a must stop.
