They offer free tastings, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! I ended up getting the vegan dark chocolate, vegan amaretto cherry, and vegan lavender blueberry - loved all three! Example I ordered a White Russian and it came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a rocks glass with vodka and Kahlua poured over it. I picked at it in the glass then asked to have it mixed up into a milkshake. They were very accommodating. Note: If you do get an alcohol ice cream, you do have to stay at the bar/seating area until you are finished. The facility is located inside the Eastern market. When you go through the front entrance to the building this facility is directly to the right. They offer grass-fed dairy ice cream non-dairy vegan gelato milkshakes waffle cones pints quartz flights their alcohol options include: Woodford reserve, makers Mark, Kahlua, Tito's vodka, and amaretto to name a few. I tried a few samples of their ice cream, their dark chocolate and the lavender blueberry. I ended up getting a cup of the lavender blueberry as well. A friend of ours got my husband a Year of Pints card for his birthday because he knew how much my husband loves ice cream. Now he loves ice cream even more. I didn't even know it was even possible. Pints are normally $9.95. With the membership you can get 13 pints (1 per month for the year and a free one if you get all 12) for $89.50. One thing to note: if you bring a pint home make sure to finish it within the week. There aren't any preservatives so the ice cream doesn't stay firm for very long. My brother, sister, and I all found something to snack on: both of my siblings picked dairy treats, while I made a beeline for the alcoholic frosé scoops. It ~is~ finally spring time, after all. My scoops were served in a cute little wine glass, and I was instructed to stay close by because I couldn't take my alcohol outside of the Love's corner. While the three of us sat on stools at the shop's cute little wooden bar, I noticed quite a few fabulous things that made me look forward to coming back: First of all, Love's serves an array of alcoholic ice cream treats. My frosé scoops were delicious, don't get me wrong, but I wish I'd known there were more options to get a little buzz! Oh well, now I know for next time. :) Second, the shop's draft prices are RIDICULOUSLY low. I'm talking, $2.75 for a pint. I've never heard of that low of a price in my entire life! Love's Ice Cream is a cute shop in the downtown GR market! They have lots of rotating flavors of Ice Cream, vegan gelato and sorbet to choose from. (Both dairy and non-dairy options). I sampled a few before selecting my flavor and tried the soulful ginger, black cherry, choc fudge brownie and the mixed berry crumble. Each of the ice creams had a unique flavor and I ended up deciding on the black cherry in a waffle cone. I really appreciate what they are going for with all the different exotic flavors combos, but I just don't think they've quite nailed the flavors, or the texture of the ice creams. Also, the cone wasn't as fresh tasting is I would have expected. It was a little pricey for the quality in my opinion, but a good option for unique ice cream or for those with dietary restrictions. This is some of the best ice cream we have had in a long time. We stopped at downtown market as tourists and the wife decided we were getting ice cream. I had the blueberry and she had Mexican hot chocolate. We shared and the two flavors complemented each other perfectly. I love the ice cream here! For all the ice cream that's served in Grand Rapids, this is one that reigns supreme. They are quite accommodating to gluten free and vegan diets with half of their selection split between dairy and non dairy. If your allergic to coconut or milk, you're shit out of luck here lol. Holy moly. This place was fantastic. We stopped at the Downtown Market to check it out when in Grand Rapids this past weekend. I wasn't even hungry, after a half sandwich at Founders and some tacos at the Market, but after trying a sample of their vegan ice cream, I was hooked. I'm not vegan by any means but my stomach usually hates dairy, so to find a vegan ice cream that tasted creamy like these did was great. I asked and they said they use coconut milk (vs soy or almond), so perhaps that's why. I had the rosewater pistachio vegan gelato and the blueberry or blackberry one, I believe it was. The ice cream isn't inexpensive (about $4 for two small scoops) but you get what you pay for - it was fantastic. I will say this, my kiddo unfortunately was only used to the bright green fake stuff and didn't quite "get" the slightly different flavor of their natural mint.
