I've been coming to Lover's Lane periodically over the years now for Halloween costumes, funny decor for parties, themed accessories, etc. I'd say 80% of the times I've been here, it just hasn't been that great of an experience sadly. I'm constantly upsold here. I understand if you try once with a customer, I get it's part of retail, but even after they try and you politely decline, they'll be back to upsell you again. I feel like I can't shop in peace here sometimes because employees are coming up to you and offering the most expensive products for you to buy. Also every single time without fail, when I go to buy my things at the cash register, I'm asked "can I recommend something better?" Literally every single time! And even if I say no, there is always a comment. I've gotten questioned about the product(s) I'm buying like "you're okay with this needing batteries?" or "it's such a shame because this is a cute product but there's such better quality ones" after I already say I'm fine with the products I chose. I still here them out and see what they have to offer, and sometimes I do take their recommendation and other times I do not. Again, just always trying to be upsold and they don't take "no" easily. Another thing is their stuff here is WAY overpriced for the quality. The costumes I've gotten here were over $60, $70 and usually come apart or rip and tear after a use or two. Their decor is fun for bachelorette parties or other themed parties, but again, not quality or anything like that. Lot of their packaging is flimsy or looks like it's been returned even though they don't take returns. If their pricing was reasonable I wouldn't even be mentioning this, but from the way they price their items you'd think every product here was of the highest quality. This will be my toughest review. I love the people here. My significant other gave me a list of things she was interested in trying and I took a lunch break to explore whether this store had what we needed. The ladies working on that day, especially Julie, took that time to listen to me stammer through my list and even added some additional ideas from their own experience. This review is pretty general as every Lovers Lane I have been in is about the same. I have gone to them in the few occasions I wanted to pick something small up and couldn't get to the nice toy stores in Chicago, like Tulip (I recommend them!) Here's the thing: Tulip has testers for all the lubes so you can see for yourself what is too tacky/too sticky/just right for you. Lovers Lane yelled at me for squeezing an open bottle I thought was the tester. If I can't feel it, it's a big guessing game and it's not like you can return it. Tulip also lets you touch all the toys, and Lovers Lane has just a few out. Also, alot of the items look like cheap, novelty junk. Fluffy, flimsy handcuffs and the sort. If you want BDSM then get some real restraints! Lastly, and my biggest gripe about them- you cant ask them any questions without it going back to them trying to sell you their massage kits. I get it, it is there, but everytime...I don't feel safe to ask them real questions. At Tulip, I walk in and I can ask them anything and I feel like I get an honest explanation of my options in toys/lube/etc. Moreso if you shopping for more specific things like strap-ons and whatnot. The few strap-ons I remember seeing may look very pretty but they are not going to be sturdy and functional. So, in the end....Lovers Lane is ok if you want to pick up some of your favorite lube or maybe some of the sexy clothes- but you can find better places if your looking for some serious purchases. read more

Went in there around 8 on a Saturday night, as soon as I walked in a short girl with black hair gave me such a dirty look. Why I do not know. Made me want to leave. The girl was really helpful, my only issue is I came in the store with an understanding of what i wanted and i told the sales associate that more than once, water resistant and rechargeable. Of course not water resistance, and now it doesn't work, spent 89.00 , and day 1 it is dead and i probably won't get my money back. They have an array of merchandise for every one that wants to get their sweet , or naughty on!! Employees Greet with smiles and have tons of enthusiasm for what they're selling! ..Alyssa helped me for last minute date night with my beau and I bought more Than what I went in for - two body suits, one full body suit, thigh highs, couples toy (!), and of course the lotion. Lovers Lane is def. the place for couples! This store was sooo small first of all! Secondly, it's pricey! Third, they never have LARGE or XL! Always size SMALL, XS left! I visited this store because I wanted to get a few things for a romantic weekend I'm planning. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by all staff which you don't see often. The store is huge with so many different items to choose from which made me feel like a kid in a candy store lol. I had the pleasure of being helped by Crystal. When I tell you she was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL, I mean it. She was so kind and dedicated! She helped me find everything I was looking for. She recommended items and really pointed me in the right direction which I needed. She was honest and even helped me look for different sizes in lingerie. I felt like she was specifically there to help me. She was patient and definitely paid attention to detail. She also was very knowledgeable and had answers for any question I asked her. I came in and told the lady that I worked for this company before so I know a lot of the products but I know they have couple new things that I don't know about and she automatically showed no interest in helping me and when I asked her a question she replied with a rude face. Was looking for a modest corset for a costume event- and somehow got dragged into Lover's Lane. I figured that they were just a dirty (literally) little sex shop, but I was surprised to find that it was actually a very clean store with nice displays and a helpful staff. The selection of corsets was pretty impressive, and they even had multiples in the plus sizes (3 and 4 XL's even!). That's a major win. The ladies on hand that night were all awesome and were very polite- I didn't really expect any help or service trying on the corsets but they all knew what they were doing and helped me find a perfect fit. Unfortunately I lost track of time and accidentally kept them all there five minutes past closing time, but they were all too nice to point it out! My apologies to the staff; your excellent service distracted me from even thinking about the time! I agree completely about some of the other reviews posted, I came in looking for something and the first thing I was shown was a $120 item...i quickly said my budget was more under $50 so she takes me to the $50/$60 items. She kept showing me things I WAS NOT asking for (smooth versus textured etc) and I was getting frustrated and told her I wasn't willing to spend the top end of my budget on something I'd be settling on since they didn't have exactly what I wanted. A few feet over I saw EXACTLY what I described to her I wanted from the get-go that she said she wasn't sure if she had any of that type, my guess is because the price tag was $16 she didn't want to show me in the first place. I asked her her review and she said "I dont know, not a lot of people buy that one"...thanks...and there was another thing I wanted which would have put my total around $40 and again I asked her review and she said the same thing. They push their more expensive products despite what you come in asking for, you are better off shopping on your own. Also their clothing is either XS/S or 3X/4X....i need something in between! I came in to just look at some outfits with my friend, as I was approached by a sales lady (frumpy, dirty blonde hair) who immediately started pushing corsets on me, when I said I was just looking around. She then proceeds to push these expensive items in my dressing room. I did like the corset she picked for me but then I saw the price tag.... $100! That is not in my budget. She then takes the corsets and says" I'll leave this at the register" I then was taking to my friend about the price and wasn't happy with it. The lady was hovering over us as we were talking about the item and still continued trying to pressure me into making the purchase. My friend then picked out a $20 item and the lady came over, snatched it out of her hand and said "oh honey, you don't want this" my friend proceeded to tell her she had heard a good review from someone she trusted and would be making the purchase despite what she said. The rest of the time we were there her attitude was extremely poor and kept giving us dirty looks. When I informed her I needed to go home and think about spending that much money on the corset but may come back for It, her attitude towards us for even worse. I will NOT be returning to this location and am highly disappointed in the quality of staff that is representing this company. read more

We had just a fantastic experience! The store is so clean and organized, that it was not hard to find what we needed. The staff was so helpful and knew just when we were in need of help. We were not intending on spending quite so much, but after learning about the quality of the toys and the money saved by not using batteries by getting a rechargeable one, we were sold! The staff at this Lovers Lane is absolutely outstanding. They are very knowledgeable about the items in the store and go above and beyond to assist you. I have been going to lovers lane for years and the store manager at this location is simply put amazing. She has a top notch staff in place. When I go which is fairly often she informs me of the latest and greatest items. She is honest when I try things on and tells me if I look good or not and has the ability to get me into things I would of never dreamed I would try and my guy goes crazy and I love it! I have had personal conversations about private sexual matters that she has helped me learn and grown and become good at for my boyfriends and mine mutual satisfaction. I have watched them work with customers that come in from the very shy to the very out there and they do it with class, style, grace and professionalism. They have a beautiful store there the nicest of the lovers lanes and trust me I've been to several. Dont be afraid to state your needs or ask a question they will be able to assist you.
