How many of us have gone from nail salon to nail salon just hoping that we somehow feel like "WOW", this is the place I will be coming to going forward. Lovely Nails really does stand out from the rest, why?, come on the answer is so easy, the problem is we get so use to just receiving the best we thought, until you have experienced Lovely Nails. From the owner Amy right down to every employee, especially my Jennifer. The customer service every single time has been impeccable, there genuine concern regarding the outcome is a point they pay a lot of attention to. Customer service covers an enormous foot print, from the moment you enter, the greeting, making sure what you picked is what you will love at least for 2 weeks. The attention, the conversation and asking about your day, walking into a bathroom that is spotless, offering a drink or anything else you might need. The thing that has always impressed me is how in touch each one of the experienced nail techs are is the interest about the day that you had, believe me they can see the stress, feel the stress and what do they do, maybe more of a massage or just asking if you are ok. So the next time you think that you can find someplace better, take a moment because I promise you, if everyone just thinks about all they do and how customer service is their first priority, I promise you will never leave. Most of us always have the time to share a bad experience, it's just important to share the good times so others don't have to go from place to place, all they have to do is drive, walk, get a ride or maybe bike over to Lovely Nails, I promise you will love them just as I have for over 6 years. Love you guys!!!! A customer forever Susan E read more

This is under "new management" like that's supposed to be a good thing? I went to the old management and I'd say they were average. Nothing to write in about but got the job done... the new management mine as well close up shop. I came in to get Gel polish removed. I rarely get gel because unless you have it professionally removed I always damage the top layer of my nails. And when I DO get it professionally removed salons rarely want to let you just soak like when gel first came out because it takes too much time. They only want to file most of it off which also ruins my nails. So strike 1 they wouldn't let me just soak while I got a pedi. Instead they put some additional gel on, that was a "new better method" for removal, which burned my skin, and she scraped the gel off which damaged the top layer on my nails (what I wanted to avoid). Strike 2 - they kept making comments about me just wanting regular nail polish and not more gel. They make you pick from a book and wont let you pick out the bottle. I've found I really only like OPI... no OPI your option is JUST the book and they arent pretty colors, maybe less than 40? Strike 3 - the "new manager" gave all the women a tough time for using "too many towels" in front of the customers... like what?! Strike 4 - we get to the manicure. At this point I'm bummed about my healthy thick nail's being destroyed but trying to just stay positive and just get them cleaned and shaped up a little... eventually they'll grow out and I'll just count this as a loss today.... WELL the woman ends up cutting me, and I'm BLEEDING. She doesn't apologize or ask if I'm ok she just laughs and tries to almost brush it off. Like she painted my nails the wrong color and its a minor fixable mistake?? She doesn't wait for it to clot. And its not clotting. So there I bleed. Strike 5 - payment time. She asks me to pay before painting... totally fine. Charges me $69 for a REGULAR mani pedi!! Is this a joke?! Not only is this insanely high, my thumb is STILL bleeding!! There was no section to put a tip. Would I have given a full 20% after all this probably not but every one has a bad day so maybe id have floated a little something her way... STRIKE 6 - she then acts as if I'm stupid for switching from gel to regular and that they charge $12 to take that off. THEN she has the nerve to say and "I didn't even charge you for french thats $5 extra..." I'm now realizing shes mad there was no tip (not sure when I was supposed to do it there was no prompt for it) THEN she kept hovering over me I guess waiting for a cash tip?? Lady... you made me bleed and let me bleed all over your station with no remorse or offer to help. You're lucky I paid the bill at all! Seriously go to any other salon. read more

No one likes it when they have bad customer service encounters, and I hope I'm able to save you from having one yourself. I've waited to write this review and even went back to see if Sue was willing to fix the issues. What happened next shocked me. I can't remember being treated so poorly while apologizing. Visit 1: A friend and I were walk-in's for mani-pedis, and it started out well and good, but then it started to go south when my friend asked to have the foil replaced on her nails that fell off re-covered to remove the dip. They ignored her. We waited patiently and finished the pedicures. Now it was time to move onto the manicures.... apparently there's only one person who does dip so we had to wait. As she was doing my nails I told her I'm trying to strengthen my nails and not to file on top of my nails too much as they're very thin and sensitive. It seemed she listened, but the final shape of the dip was awful. I've been doing dips since they hit the market and have done a bunch during lock-down so I know it's not that difficult. But I didn't want to make a big fuss and just finished up so my friend could get hers done. Not 3 days later, they started to chip. VISIT 2: I walked in and asked the same woman to fix the dip since it was chipping and falling off. She rolled her eyes and said "FINE! I fix, but no dip!" I apologized and asked why I couldn't do dip? "YOU TOO DIFFICULT!" wow. Okay. I hadn't raised my voice, was polite and just asked to fix the dip - At this point I was fine to pay for it, but wanted it fixed. What i encountered was a nightmare. She continued to be rude and was forceful in trying to get the dip off my nails - so much so she was filing my nails to the point where it hurt. I pulled back and she grabbed my hand. Now my nails are ruined- she filed them so forcibly, I have to wait for them to grow out. The exchange was nothing I've ever encountered and was shocked. I finally convinced her to let my nails soak like you're supposed to. I did my best to get the nail color off and get out of there. I offered to pay for her troubles of removing my nail dip and she rolled her eyes and was shouting. Bottom line there's a reason why this place is always empty. At least one nail technician is rude, they don't have a lot of colors to chose from and they don't do nearly as good of a job as Luna nails or the dozen or so salons in the area. read more

If there was a cero star I would give them cero. This establishment is really bad they don't have respect for their customers the manager is very unprofessional. I made an appointment with Danny on Friday and I told them I was coming at 12 noon. When I arrived he had already taken another customer, That customer was getting a pedicure so he sent her to get her pedicure first with someone else to take me and my friend. The entire time he was rushing trying to multi task to get it done quick. He didn't shape our nails or file our nails. He did two coats of polish and didn't let it finish on the UV light completely. I had a concert to attend so complaining on the spot wasn't gonna help so we left. I had to attend my concert with ugly nails. I tried shaping my nails at home and they chipped . I sent an email and expressed my concern but I got no response. I called the establishment next day and told them I needed a refund. They get greedy trying to take multiple customers and rushing it. I have never had an experience like this at any nail salon, I have never complained because I hate complaining even if I get a bad experience but this time was very awful to think that I loss my $55. at this point is not about the money it was that I went to one of a life time experience concert and I had to hide my hands from pictures. The manager answered very angry and told me that they don't give refunds, they only fix the nails, I told her that I am not looking to get my nails touched by them again and she told me that this is America and is noting is for free. I was nice about it and she insulted me over the phone. Let me tell you that America also care about customer service and taking care of the customer. read more

Lovely Nails - French (gel) tips but make it fashion - Nail Salons Near Me - Sterling, Virginia

Worst pedicure I ever received. I'll never go here again! The lady rushed so fast didn't say anything then tried to be all nice and caring at the end and ask about my pregnancy at the end for a tip. Nope. I'm so unsatisfied... she is the worst. I think she is the manager, lead or something.. just sad. read more

This is was my second time going there. 1st experience was good so I went the second time. I wanted to powder gel which is $35. I showed her the picture and asked her if she can do it and she said she knows how to do it. But the lady didn't know how to do anything. When she was cleaning the old gel, did a poor job and then she totally messed up my nails. So the compliment I got was, "you need to get your nails done!" Day after I got it done and she said she would not charge but she did for using different color. Oh! She also messed up my eyebrows! If you want something simple sure but other than that I won't recommend this place! read more

Long review, but (I think) worth the read... I have never publicly shamed a business in my life-- but I had such an unsettling experience at Lovely Nails Dulles Landing yesterday evening I can't not share. A friend and I go to Lovely Nails every two weeks to have our nails done-- religiously. Over the years, we have literally spent thousands of dollars at this salon. We always make appointments with the same two technicians. A couple of weeks ago, my technician went to Vietnam to visit her family. We all knew this was going to happen, we are all thrilled for her. For the months leading up to this trip, I talked about who I was going to make appointments with in her absence. There is another technician there that I have used a couple of times when my normal lady was out and I loved her just as well. Tuesday evening I called and made the appointments for Wednesday for my friend and I-- just as we always do. We arrived at the salon and were chatting and selecting colors when evidently the salon owner, Amy, berated my friends technician because she believed that I was a "walk-in" and that my friends technician had just "assigned me" to her friend. We sat down to start our pedicures and noticed that my friends technician was crying. Crying actually really doesn't begin to articulate what was happening-- sobbing is more accurate. We tried to ask what was wrong and she just cried harder, having to excuse herself multiple times. Finally I asked my technician what was happening and she explained that Amy had accused my friends technician of giving me to her and didn't understand that I called and made appointments and specifically requested the technician I had. She even pointed out that two weeks before when my normal lady was about to leave for Vietnam I had stopped her and said "see you in two weeks!" because my plan was always to use her in my normal technicians absence. Amy came back inside the salon and I tried to clear up the misunderstanding. She immediately became combative and started screaming at me. I calmly said "Amy, I am so sorry for the misunderstanding-- I called and specifically made an appointment for this technician." She then screamed "yes I know you always go to (my normal technician) but she is away so you cannot just walk in and (my friends technician) give you to who she chooses. This is my salon!" The entire experience was awful and actually resulted in my friends technician quitting. I don't blame her. It's a shame, though, because she has been there for years and was absolutely adored. But, no one deserves to be treated that way-- not an employee, not a customer. If Amy had acknowledged the mistake and apologized I would feel differently-- but she didn't. I have no intention of continuing to patronize an establishment with an owner that treats both her staff and customers so poorly. That's not good business. That's not good humanity. read more

I received what might have been the most horrible gel mani and pedi in a long while. The manager is the one who did my mani pedi and it turned out absolutely horrendous. For my gel mani she didn't even buff my nails (hello gel application rule 101!!!!!) before applying the gel which is causing my nails to peel after less than a WEEK! I knew I should've never switched nail places. I'm pretty sure my toe is infected because it's been hurting since I've gotten it done last week. The pedicure is another story, nails cut terribly and paint applied sloppy. I paid $80 with their dumb re opening discount and this shitty job isn't going to last me past the next few days. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!! read more

I wish I didnt have to give a star. HORRIFIED by this nail salon on all levels. The staff are completely unprofessional and rude. Examples: A woman sits down in the pedicure chair and puts her feet in the water and says "I'm so sorry but this is too hot". The technician says "no it's not its fine". Customer - "no really I have very sensitive skin and this is painful to me" Tech (now annoyed) "no it's fine...put your feet in. It's not hot" A little girl is getting her nails done with her mom and has provided a picture of what she wants. The tech keeps grabbing the little girl and telling her to "stay still in a nasty tone. (This girl was very well behaved) The tech then proceeds to give the girl a design that looked terrible and barely resembled what she wanted. A 15 year old girl asks for her nails to be a certain shape. The tech says "no you need a square shape" the 15 year old says I don't like square please give me round. The tech says "no you are getting square" and proceeds to give her square. A 14 year old sits down and the male tech had a cigarette hanging out of his mouth (un lit) and he proceeds to tell her how she needs various designs, jewels etc and she has to keep arguing with him saying "no". This goes on for 5 min to the point where he finally gets annoyed. This was all happening while my neices were getting fills and when we left they were so bad we had to get them re done/ fixed down the street. The fills were cracked and on their actual skin in some places. This is hands down the WORST nail salon I have ever been to. And I feel so sorry for those children and customers who were basically bullied by these imbiciles. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

I dropped in to Lovely in the early afternoon when I couldn't get in with my normal tech at another salon...this one is new and I figured I would give it a shot. Big mistake! I was told the wait would be 10 mins when I walked in. Around 30 mins later we got started. The tech began with trimming and filing my nails and then doing my cuticles. I'm not sure what in the world she was doing - she was grabbing my cuticles and just pulling the skin off...several were bleeding by the time she was done (which she blamed on me!). At one point she also took out the drill to file off parts of my cuticles. The filing looks terrible, uneven, slanted and some are very rough. The polish isn't much better. And my cuticles look like crap. I definitely won't be going back. read more

I'd like to give more stars but the salon is just average. I did get a really good spa pedi the first two visits. Third time was good but not really spa. Very minimal "massage" and the technician didn't do a great job of callus removal. The Technician did a great on one brow and upper lip wax. I decided I'd start doing artificial nails again. I was told I was getting a "powder gel" pink and white overlay manicure. It's been so long since I last did my nails, that I feel for it. A bit of research later on confirmed that it's just acrylic in two different colors with a clear gel top coat. What burns me up is that she was having me put my nails under the UV light after she formed them (brush tipped in liquid and then powder and applied to nail). There is really no such thing as a powder gel nail. The "gel" nails cost me $10 more than what I should have paid. Within six days five nails chipped. When I went back to get them fixed I was told that I was "picking" at my nails or doing something to make them chip. She did repair the nails without charge. I was also told on one occasion that I couldn't use a credit card or write a check. I had to use their ATM and pay with cash. Yet, the next two times I saw others using credit cards and pushed them on it. My nails look nice but I don't like being lied to about services, blamed for a less than perfect job and required to use their ATM machine. I'm disappointed because I thought I'd found "my place" for mani/pedi services. read more

I gave this nail shop 10 chances before I made up my mind on whether I made it my permanent place to go; however, no matter how many times I tried to avoid the man on the left corner (by the window) he always seemed to get me. I think he is one of the owners. I would call in advance and specifically ask for the lady by the register but he would swiftly take me when I walked in. This man did my nails on at least the eight of 10 times I went. Each time I told him exactly what I wanted but as he did my nails he would recommend i get a colorful nail and when I would say no, he would get mad and huff and puff the test of the time I saw there. He also mentioned how he does his nails differently then most people and then proceed to do this thing to my tips which made no difference. My nails would break and come lose within a week. I would pick out a color and he would force me to change the color because he said the one he got looked better. I should have spoken up but he's pretty aggressive. I decided to stop coming after I called in advance short notice. The person on the phone told me to come and when I did there were two technicians on their phones waiting for new clients. I walked in and immediately they said that the man was busy and to come back 45 minutes later. I asked if any of the ones waiting could take me and they said no. I walked out and never went back. Now I go to Amazing Nails in South Riding and it's been better service and a more friendly place to get my nails done. read more

Honestly there's a 50/50 chance you are either going to leave hating your experience or absolutely loving it and it changes each time you go. Some of the nail techs are great and do a phenomenal job but the others act like it's their first time doing nails and each one comes out a different length and shape. This can be a great place but I'd just recommend finding the tech you like and making an appointment with them only cause they do have reasonably priced services especially in this area and the owner is super kind. read more
