We were still deciding which pedicures to get because we had dinner reservations later and wanted to make sure we had enough time. After standing there for another couple of minutes while we decided, he told us, "There's another nail salon across the street if the price of our services is going to be an issue." We left immediately. At no point did we say or imply that price was an issue--we were simply deciding which service would work with our schedule. His assumption, tone, and the rushed nature of the interaction made us feel extremely unwelcome and unwanted. The comment felt like an ignorant and intentional microaggression, especially considering there was no reason for him to assume we couldn't afford their services. I see that most of the reviews here are positive, but unfortunately, our experience was anything but.

I thought surely the owner would be able to resolve the issue but she immediately started arguing with me and repeatedly told me that I only asked for a pedi. The fact that the appointment had been made on 3 seperate occasions meant nothing to her so I didn't even get an apology. When I was literally told "too bad" is that I finally understood that this woman was just a terrible supervisor who does not know how to treat her customers. When an owner, boss, supervisor does not have the common sense to simply try to appease a customer it says alot about the establishment. I am not a difficult person to please and am usually quite flexible (I am a medical interpreter and deal with some very difficult patients and doctors on a daily basis) the complete disregard with which i was treated prompted me to write this review. Usually if I have nothing good to say I don't post anything but this lack of any type of consideration was just beyond the pale. He just continued through the appointment. When he did finally listen he filed the sides which did nothing for the length. After finally getting tired of not being listened to I just let him finish doing the set. When he asked if I liked them I said "no, they are too long I am going to just take them off tomorrow." He still charged full price even after seeing how mad I was at the situation. I cut them off in the parking lot. The acrylic was so thick he didn't even do that right. I reached out to MiLinda on IG inquiring if she was taking on new clients and asking if she would be able to do mine since I'm allergic to acrylic powders and only can use a clear building gel that has to be sculpted on top of my natural nail before shaping. It's a process and very time consuming and I knew there was a chance she would say no. But, instead she was 100% open to trying and taking me on which I was super excited about. All of her appointments are booked from online which was something new for me and not something I'm use too. But I have set reminders for myself so I can get on weekly to book my next appointments 2-3 weeks out. I love that she is super OCD when it comes to doing my nails and making sure they are even and straight. No crooked nails here. Lol. I also love that I can text her my design ideas before my appointment and brainstorm with her colors. Backstory: I originally developed a fungus infection on my nails from a service at another salon, Lina Nails. When I brought it up, they gave me an antiseptic nail polish to treat it, but it didn't work, and I had to grow my nails out for months afterward. This past Saturday, once my nails had finally grown back out, I came to Lotus Day Spa for our anniversary and asked clearly and repeatedly for a thin layer of builder gel. The technician seemed to have no idea what builder gel was, but she nodded along as she understood, then pulled out powder dip. I told her no, and said it was okay, I would go somewhere else. Yet she persisted that she understood. During the nail service, she applied a thick brown layer of what she said was builder gel, but it was not the typical process I used to use. She kept looking up and down at me and struggling to do my nails. The layer of product sat over my cuticles, then I dipped my hands in water and tried to clean them afterward, which made it worse. The pedicure wasn't any better: my toes were made to bleed, a green astringent was applied with not much explanation, and my husband and I received completely different levels of service from each other; he got no callus or cuticle remover, while my tech pulled a hangnail but never touched my cuticles. We were charged over $200, and I wasn't able to review the itemized receipt before leaving!!! Once home, I called to complain, and they said they would give me a refund, but they did not. Lotus Day Spa called the next day, asking me to come back in to fix it, but I don't drive, my husband can't currently drive due to a car accident injury- we took Ubers that day because I wanted to at least do something nice for our anniversary, and while my husband was healing. So more money lost! After being told "builder gel" repeatedly and getting blank nods in response, I had no confidence a second visit would go any differently, and I was suspicious of the amount charged and the fact that it hadn't been refunded yet. I declined. So this morning I walked back to Lina Nails instead, just to ask if they'd drill down and remove the excess acrylic that was left on my skin and they were rude to me all over again. Between one salon that gave me a fungus infection and a fix that didn't work, and another that couldn't execute a simple, clearly repeated request, this whole situation has cost me my anniversary, extra money, and months of nail damage. Would not recommend either of these places. So bad.
