Nothing looked American made. The lady behind the counter didn't talk to any customer who walked in. I would have been happy to purchase some chocolate bars if I had any idea what any of it was. There were no samples or easily understood flow to the layout. I was a tourist so it was silly for me to take a chance on a foreign chocolate I would have no idea where to get it again if I enjoyed it. read more

This is the type of spot that you just wander in & take it ALL in. The aroma of chocolate is intoxicating & everything is so beautifully displayed you almost don't want to to touch anything. Randomly walked in & was very happy with the selection as I was in gifting mode. Extremely friendly staff & happy I found this gem. read more

Don't hire bratty college students if you aren't gonna teach them basic customer service!!!! I usually love Louisa's till I realized how inconsiderate they are to their customers, great chocolate however even though its overpriced read more

Stumbled on this adorable little chocolate shop while shopping in Cape May last week. There was a variety of treats to choose from, mostly featuring chocolatiers from across the United States. I picked up a bar of Louisa's Milk Chocolate Sea Salt (it's delicious), as well as bars from Oregon and NY. They had a small variety of baked goods and the most beautiful display of hand painted bon bons. Prices were reasonable - I don't mind paying extra for something that may be unique or hard to find at home. The shopkeeper was attentive and helpful, will definitely return back or purchase online between trips to the shore (hopefully that's an option)! read more

Louisa's Chocolate Bar - Chocolatiers & Shops Near Me - Cape May, New Jersey

Out of the cute and cool shops in and around Washington St mall this is the one I always stop in each time I am in Cape May. There is just an impressive collection of chocolates from around the world in this tiny, little shop. Its enjoyable to spend some time browsing the beautiful looking bars and treats. I always wind up buying a few to try something different, something funky.. the funkiest is usually suggested by the lady behind the counter. This time she got me to try a "dry aged beef" chocolate bar and I found it interesting that the brand was Naive, which made me wonder if that's what I was being buying this. (haha.. actually this bar is savory and would probably go great with a full bodied red wine). Besides new treats I usually pickup a couple of my fav Lake Champlain 5 star bars since they stock a full collection. read more

What an absolute GEM !! It was my first time in Cape May. We came during off-season and were soo happy to see this place open! Nicole was soo sweet ! Very informative about the bevy of delicious chocolate from around the country! She went above to explain flavors and how to savor the chocolate! It's such a cute place! Thank you, Nicole. we'll DEFINITELY BE BACK! read more

Louisa's Chocolate Bar - Nicole was soo amazing! Great recommendations to a bevy of Heavenly chocolate - Chocolatiers & Shops Near Me - Cape May, New Jersey

So cute, small yet BEAUTIFUL shop, with chocolate bars galore! Was thrilled to see (and buy) bars from Portland Oregon's Moonstruck shop. (Any chocolate lover needs to rush out to the Northwest and the cornucopia of chocolate shops and factories there). But in the Northeast, you can come here and travel via the artisan chocolates, the artistic displays, and fun discussions with the friendly owner! read more

Really cool store with an incredible variety of chocolate bars from around the world! I could've spent all day in here looking at the beautiful wrapper artwork. The vibes in here were very weird and unwelcoming. We popped in three times during our time in Cape May, and each time, somebody else was working, but the overall atmosphere was the same -- like we were a bother being there. We almost decided not to buy anything since the staff members made us feel uncomfortable. The bars we did end up purchasing were tasty, albeit pricy. read more

Why and how have I not stepped into this place before? I have a chocolate problem. I cannot wait for my next day in Cape May to visit again. The selection from all over the world is over stimulating. The offering is so interesting. I was in heaven. Space is diminutive but the variety is off the charts. My eyes were rolling into the back of my head sampling my buy, sipping Petite Syrah, and rocking on my ocean view porch back at the hotel. Even if you aren't a chocolate freak, you definitely need to pop in and grab some things if you have someone in your life who is a Chocoholic. read more

Calling all Chocoholics!!! This is your Shangri-la!! We're big fans of dark chocolate and Louisa's must have had at least 2 dozen different bars from across the globe to choose from. They also have their brand which was really good! We tried the dark chocolate with peanut butter and peanuts. Wishing we bought two bars it was that good!! read more

What a sweet store! I happenned to be in ocean city nj for the week this past summer and I looked up online to see if there were any good chocolate places around cape may. I'm so glad to go to it. So many varieties of chocolate from around the world to choose from. They even have plenty of organic chocolate to choose. Thr shop owner was very friendly, answered all my questions I'm regards to chocolate and gave me some new information about chocolate that I was not aware of. One of the chocolates that I bought was called bees which looked like a bee and contained caramel, chocolate and honey. So good and creamy! I also bought some chocolate from other countries. I will go back again this weekend to get my chocolate fill. read more

I loved their restaurant and was excited to see Louisa's has a whole store dedicated to chocolate! I can't say I know much about chocolate but the person working was helpful in explaining the differences in cocoa and gave some recommendations as to what to choose. I loved the chocolate caramels and the chocolate worth marshmallows. There is surely something here for everyone! read more

Quite a cute little store that has a variety of unique chocolates. Even better that they are fair-trade and show you where the chocolates are made. So expect a chocolate bar to be around $9. But that didn't stop me from getting chocolate. There flavors like ghost pepper, matcha, caramel, and hazelnut. I got lavender with 72% cocoa content. Not my favorite but this is a shop that I would visit in the future to try the other chocolates. read more

Louisa's Chocolate Bar - Mast Lavender Chocolate - Chocolatiers & Shops Near Me - Cape May, New Jersey

Stumbled across this chocolate bar while spending my birthday oceanside on the cape. It's a fancy little boutique with a variety of chocolates and unique candies, etc. There was so much that I can't say for sure what she has inside. I was lured in by the key lime pie which turned out to be some of the best I've ever had - and I've been to Texas, so..... Hers is made thin and nicely packed on an adequate layer of graham cracker crust. The little container of whipped cream tastes so good & I think it may have been homemade. My daughter had a chocolate mousse with a tangy marmalade drip on the side. That was also really good! They are very strict and let you know as soon as you enter " we only sell by the slice." Ha ha ha ... it's that good! If you wanted a pie you can't get one, but you can buy 12 slices and create one :-) This is place is now up in my favorites! I think a slice was about $7 or $8 - worth it. read more

Stopped in this adorable shop browsing around with friends. This is sophisticated decadent chocolate to indulge yourself. I'm partial to the salted butterscotch, it was the most amazing piece of candy. I would say this is for adults not the typical kiddie chocolate place. A romantic weekend away stop in here for chocolate and one of their beautiful smelling candles. read more

Great little Chocolate shop. The store itself is not so big. But, there is a great and vast selection. They feature chocolate bars from USA, South America, and Europe. Everything is neatly organized. They have a "Brooklyn Corner", and in that corner you will find Brooklyn's Finest Chocolate. i.e.- Jomart, Mast Brothers...... Some of their chocolate bars, are more of a novelty. The novelty bars, have a cute, eye catching wrapper, but the quality is not as high as the other. i.e- A Bosco Chocolate Bar.... I bought my brother an assortment of Milk chocolate bars. I bought him a, Divine (Germany), Jomart (USA), Lake Champaign, and a couple others. If you need a gift for some1 that happens 2 be a chocolate lover, I do suggest getting a gift here. The owner Louisa can help you choose the right bars. If you want a chocolate bacon bar, the have it here. If you want a BBQ chocolate bar, they have it here... If you want Milk, White or Dark, ofcourse you can find it here. It is not a big shoppe, but their selection is vast. Louissa, the owner is very friendly and genuinely a nice person. She is very passionate about xhicolate, and knows every about her inventory. I believe she and her family also owns a restaurant in town. This shoppe is a must, on your visit to Cape May read more

The selection of chocolate is large, and there is a good variety, however, the dark chocolate only goes up to about 85%, disappointing. They do offer a wide variety of macaron flavors, that are very well made and delicious. BUT the most "memorable" part of the experience was the sales woman; she is always extremely rude, and not helpful. I have gone back multiple times trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, but every single time she is downright rude and ignorant and ruins the experience. read more

Absolutely fabulous hand made chocolate from all over the world! The vibe is just so French, fun and elegant all in one

Such a tiny shop, but big on flavors!! There was a basket of samples at the counter with two bites left. Even though there were 4 others ahead of us who had all enjoyed some of the sample bites, one of the customers picked up the basket and said, "you have to try this!" Oh~mylanta...soooo good! The gal behind the counter said the owner made this scrumptious mishmash combination of marshmallow and chocolate and nuts and ??? for a holiday event but sadly you could not purchase it!! Say what?? I know, right? Totally disappointing and sad for the shop owner because all 6 of us in that teeny tiny shop would have bought some!! On to the next shop... read more

Louisa's Chocolate Bar - Chocolatiers & Shops Near Me - Cape May, New Jersey

I always stop in Louisa's Chocolate Bar when I'm in Cape May. The help on this visit was the owner and his mother! Both very knowledgeable and friendly. This was my first stop since they opened the restaurant portion of Louisa's, so the shop is now about half the size and seems crowded with just a few patrons in there. They quickly pointed out their "hottest" chocolate, which is made with ghost peppers...I passed on this and got the next tier of hotness down, as well as some chocolate salted caramels, which are absolutely delicious! I'm a chocoholic, but most of the stuff is a bit overboard for me. Not only in price, but the wide variety of things mixed with chocolate. I do much better at Hershey Park where I know a big bag of hershey kisses will do me just fine. But I do like coming here on special occasions and trying some different for a change, chatting with the employees and other chocolate lovers. read more

If you are looking to satisfy your sweet craving. This is the place. Chocolate Pie is Amazing!

A store dedicated to chocolate? What's not to love?! I felt like a little bit of a noob walking in because there was just so much to choose from, and I don't exactly know what a "cacao nib" really is. But I pretended I knew what I was doing, and ended up buying a few funky looking, colorfully packaged chocolate bars with marshmallows and coconut inside. Unless you're a super chocolate elitist, I feel like you'll probably find what your sweet tooth desires here. The girl at the counter was sweet and gave me a recommendation for the best salted caramels. She was surprisingly thin for working at a place like that! I'd have to be craned out of there at closing every day. Definitely worth a look if you're a chocoholic! Only downside is it's a tad expensive. read more

The store is cute, but the expertise in and selection of chocolate leaves to be desired. The young man staffing the counter never heard of almond bark! The darkest chocolate bar in the store is 85% cocoa which is about what you get at a decent Shoprite. The prices are outrageous. A 2.5oz bar of chocolate costs $9.10---this buys you about a pound of premium chocolate at Whole Foods. read more

This place has a wide selection of luxury chocolate bars. The variety is enormous and the quality is impeccable. That being said, a bar of chocolate ranges from $6.50 to $10. I love my chocolate but I can get amazing dessert at almost any restaurant for less than $10. This place is cute and worth visiting while waiting for the fantastic restaurant next door (Louisa's Cafe). read more

A really cool little store. The woman working (who I assume is Louisa) let us try different chocolates and even gave me a sample of the "Do Not Eat This" ghost pepper chocolate bar. Delicious and HOT! She was very nice and the store is beautiful. An enormous array of chocolate for such a small space. We'll definitely be going again next time we're in Cape May. Highly recommended. read more

Terrible products and service! We went into the store and the person was in the back room. When she finally came out, she offered us no help or samples. I eventually bought three bars of chocolates: Kashmir Spice, the Dick Taylor Fleur De Sel, and the Lake Champlain Rum Caramel Dark Chocolate. Each bar was about three ounces. To start with, there are no prices on anything, so you have no idea how much you're about to pay. Each bar cost $8. Fine, I at least expected quality chocolate. You would think that for the price of the chocolate, someone would actually assist me in my selection. The Kashmir Spice was interesting, but far from delicious, more a novelty than anything else. It didn't actually taste like any kind of spice, just a bombardment of flavors, none of which were memorable or made me want to take a second bite. The Rum Caramel was the best of all, but even that one was not worth the price. First of all, it's available at Whole Foods for $2 cheaper at the checkout. It was tasty, but not what I'm expecting from an $8 chocolate bar. The Fleur De Sel was terrible! Completely inedible! So bad that I'm going back tomorrow to ask for my money back. I have no problem paying good money for good chocolate, but I expect the quality to be on par with the price. If I'm paying $8 for a bar of chocolate, I expect it to be worth it. I also expect the sales person to acknowledge my existence and offer some guidance. read more
