Extremely Disappointing Service and Zero Accountability I had a very frustrating experience with this auto windshield company. I was charged for what I was told was a higher-quality, more expensive windshield, but they installed what appeared to be a generic one instead. Within just a few days, the glass cracked. When I reached out, I was repeatedly told someone would call me back, but no one ever followed through. After several attempts, the last person I spoke with told me I would have to pay full price for a replacement--despite the fact that the windshield had just been installed and failed almost immediately. I was also told that "all windshields are identical" and that no brand or manufacturer is better than another, even going so far as to claim that Gorilla Glass is just generic glass with a label on it. This made me feel like they weren't being transparent about the product I actually paid for. Overall, they refused to stand behind their work, didn't honor what they originally told me, and were extremely hard to reach once problems came up. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company at all. read more

Louis Auto Glass is now Safelite -- unfortunately. Having done thousands of dollars worth of business with LAG over the years and being treated very well, I am sorry to report that Safelite is not carrying on with that shop's ethos. About a month ago I brought my car in to diagnose a leak in the windshield, apparently caused by a lower cowl deforming over time and allowing water to leak in behind the dash. Both a technician and a manager came out to look at the issue, and the the technician told me to source the part and bring it in for an "easy 10 minute installation; I've seen this many times with this particular car." The manager concurred. I sourced the part and called yesterday to make an appointment for the install. The curt, unhelpful person on the phone ("Mara") insisted that this was not possible and that the repair must have been from the Louis Auto Glass days and was no longer part of their service. Except that LAG became Safelite three months ago--and the signs for the latter were already on the building, uniforms changed, etc. She further insisted that she had no way of billing for the job because it had no "labor code" or similar that she could send to a particular technician's phone (huh?!). Then she said I should bring the car and part in because "a technician might decide to do it." (Again, what?!) When I asked the obvious follow-up, namely why I'd bring the car in if they couldn't perform the service, she said "in case they can recommend something." Like what? Completing the job they'd already suggested and specified parts and a timeframe for? This place is somewhere between incompetent and indifferent, not a good look at a location that once housed a genuine, family-owned, service-focused local small business. RIP Louis Auto Glass. Confusingly, LAG's website is still up (they have other locations) with the Bellingham location featured. This saga does have a happy ending: Tyler at Lone Pine Auto Glass installed the part, showed me what he was doing and why, carefully explained that the part might not permanently fix the issue, and made a reasonable recommendation for next possible steps. Oh, and then he just shook my hand and didn't charge me! What a guy! So, Bellingham has lost a small business but also gained a new one. And the clowns at Safelite have lost a customer for life whereas Lone Pine Auto Glass just got a new one. This spring our ProMaster is getting a sunroof and driver-side panel windows. After checking out 2 other places for a windshield replacement, one which was outrageously expensive, and the other was very shady despite their shockingly high ratings, I happen to come across an ad for Louis Auto Glass in the value-saver pack in the mail. I called at the end of the day on a Friday and they provided a very fair quote and were able to get us in first thing Monday morning. My husband dropped off this truck, and they provided him with a free rental for the half- day it took to complete the service. Upon pickup, the job was done to perfection, including the calibration for the sensor system on the windshield. We even received a little gift certificate from them for a restaurant that we've been dying to try. All in all, I am extremely happy that we happen to come across this place; they are ethical, do great work, and provide exceptional customer service. If we ever have a similar situation, we will not hesitate to go back here. I would 100% recommend this shop to anyone who is in need window/ glass service. read more

My husband's newer truck got a rock chip that quickly turned into a cracked windshield. We had an appointment and since it was going to take several hours, we were offered and accepted a loan of a Newer Honda Civic. Mara was super friendly and professional! She could not have been more accommodating! Can I also say, this place is super clean?!!! The truck ended up Being done early and we received a call from Mara letting us know to Come on back whenever it was convenient for us. Wow! Luckily there was not even a copay and we were given a gift certificate for a local restaurant (we had the choice of a few places .. all great places!!) unbelievable! Who does this? Louis Auto Glass! Used to be good, but last experiences were terrible. They replaced a broken house door window on an insurance job with a "free upgrade" that had mini-blinds between the double panes of glass. Then I saw this model (Codel) online listed as discontinued years earlier. The blind was crooked, I asked the Louis store to replace the unit. When their worker brought the new unit, I asked about the first window being old stock and he laughed, said yeah I guess so, it was in our display room for many years. And worse still, the seal on the replacement window lasted only about five years. Now it's fogged up in winter, and smells faintly of mildew. Avoid!!! read more

Wow! Gary was so incredibly helpful and generous. They won a lifetime customer today for sure. My daughters windshield seal was coming loose so I stopped by to ask for advice. Gary said we should just pull it in and he's take care of it. He took the time to reseat and adhere the seal, cleans the whole windshield and when I asked how I should pay, he said "don't worry about it, it just took a few minutes". I brought a late model Porsche to Louis Auto Glass for a new factory windshield. They cracked the windshield upon installation, and damaged both exterior moldings as well. However, they tried to tell me that the damage was pre-existing, and that the supplier should warrantee the part. This after they'd made a big deal about inspecting the glass to make sure it was undamaged, before they booked my car into the shop. The new windshield was set too high on one side, so when the technician tried to pound the moulding back in place, it made contact with the glass, hence the crack. Pretty obvious cause and effect here... No one there would look me in the eye, not even the manager, much less talk to me, when I went to collect the car. Its was a weird. Every tradesman sometimes messes up, that is part and parcel with the job. But to lie to the customer and try to pin it on the glass supplier is downright sleazy. I wont be back. read more

That's a pretty large customer base in this town that they won't serve considering they say they're residential. Kinda flabbergasted for a company that's been around for such a long time. They replaced a new slider that was not supposed to be replaced and left dirt and debris inside the house. they had to spend an additional day putting the slider back in that wasn't supposed to be removed in the first place. during the first rain that we had our living room window leaked excessively, and our kitchen window had to drip. Friends of mine had a wonderful window created and installed by Louis Auto Glass (who would have thunk?) So they do "residential" too--but I didn't know this by the name I was given initially, which I see is now updated or something. I was so impressed with their outcome that I decided I wanted a similar window put in too. Jessica, the residential window specialist, was very helpful and sent out Jim, the manager, to assess the job. As it turns out, my property is kind of complicated for the job (I'm on a partial hill). Jim was wholly upfront about that and didn't try to "sell" me even though he would benefit. I quickly came to a realization that my hoped for window was going to be a huge and expensive challenge. Jim was completely fine with me cutting him short, saving us both time, saying, "I think this will be overly much." He agreed. Which cost him a contract. My initial call to get a windshield replaced on my RV was awesome. My appointment was for 9am and we dropped off a few minutes early. They told me probably about 2:30-3:30pm to be done, no problem. They called me at 1:33pm and said my vehicle would be ready at 2pm, wow , awesome... when I arrived I paid my deductible and then because they did not see my keys said my vehicle would be ready in a few more minutes... We waited for 52 minutes exactly before then getting asked if we'd been helped by the person who had helped us??? OH the vehicle was ready , sorry, keys are in it, you can go move it... They wasted almost an hour of my time .. Time is money , especially when you're self employed. Then to top it off there was still some glass particle dust inside the cab of my RV so I had to completely vacuum and dust the cab area when I got home. As if that was NOT enough of inconvenience and wasting of my time, they just called me at almost 6pm in the middle of eating dinner and "Opps we need your vin number ,we did not record it!" The windshield itself is installed correctly and is of good quality but their office staff leaves a LOT to be desired in terms of competence and I will not be inclined to go back again after my husband had used them for multiple replacements we both agree we will use the other options offered by our insurance company in Bellingham WA area. read more

I had my windshield replaced back in October . I had to bring it back the next day because the windshield was vibrating so bad I was afraid it would come flying off . Just recently for the past couple of weeks I've had this ungodly noise just drove me up the wall . My mechanic couldn't find it at first he said it was an air noise . I had to leave my car there for almost a week for them to find out that it was the windshield . They had to put heavy duty tape on the top of the windshield to stop the noise . These good folks have repaired multiple rock chips on several cars in our household(s) over the last 15 years or so. The service has always been speedy and unfailingly polite, with the extra mile gone to negotiate payment from our insurance company. It's really nice to have somebody else deal with that end of the transaction. In most cases we could barely see the sealed chip, and we have never had one turn into an actual crack after the repair. We recently brought our scarily expensive, brand new van to LAG to have some custom windows installed, as it's a cargo van and does not come from the factory with any side or rear windows. (For our light camping and road-tripping purposes, this is not ideal. We wanted some light in the vehicle and some better sight lines for parking and urban maneuvering.) As always, LAG did a stellar job. They sourced the windows (perfect OEM fit!) gave us a reasonable estimate, and did the install within a few days. The van looks great inside and out, and the interior is a far more pleasant place to spend time. I highly recommend this shop. Total pros and a pleasure to deal with. read more

I called to get my truck's window replaced after a midnight smash and grab. Violet told me over the phone that it would be 3 days to get the glass in. As a salesman who makes his living with his truck, this was going to be an inconvenience to say the least and I told her to do the best she could. In about ten minutes she called me back and that she had contacted some other distributors and would have the glass in, squeezed me in for an appointment at 1:00, which made me very happy! I got a call from Shawna a little after 3 that the truck was done. Both of these women had amazing customer service and I will only deal with Louis from now on. My parents used this company to replace a small kitchen window. First time they came out and measured it was great. Next time they came to install it was horrible. We were told they would be there at 2pm and they showed up over an hour early. No one was home yet. When I arrived one of the workers was upset because he had to wait so long. Then the window he had measured was cut wrong. He was yelling and swearing and then just left. Third time was quick and easy. I went to Louis at the recommendation of another business servicing my car. I needed a front window replaced due to a rock causing a long crack across the surface. I gave the information and the man taking down the info abruptly said I'll have to check on this and call you back. Four days later not a word. I refuse to chase after a company who can't be bothered to call back within 24 (or at least 48) hours. This past summer I had the windshield replaced in my 2014 Mazda CX-5. Now that the drizzle rain is here again I found my rain activated wiper mode did not work. I took the SUV to the Mazda dealer and was told there was something wrong with the new windshield. I was not quoted any diagnostic charges. When they called and told me 60 + dollars to tell me I need a new window. Da..Then they called me to say they had determined for 43.48 cents I need a new window. Da! Why am I taking my car to these people. I know I need a window.They are just not honest. Do not use these people. Charge you just to look at your car. The part that made me more upset was my hood has a dent. That was not there before.For $43.48 I can tell if you need a window.
