    Kibbeh & Hummus
    Anne R.

Made a reservation for 7pm on Sunday evening, right when they open for dinner, and while we were initially the only people in the restaurant, by 8:30pm, there were no upstairs seats available. The service was fantastic and very accommodating for English speakers, with language fluency to even make witty jokes that give you the feeling of being an insider. Our sever was masterful at entertaining, service, and hospitality- a true gem for the restaurant. Everything we had was tasty and true to the Lebanese flavors we've loved elsewhere. Here's what we had for two people: Kibbeh Hummus Mixed Grill (3 meats. Salad. Potato) Perrier Mint Tea Turkish Coffee Rose water cream dessert (name?) Total 58€ We will definitely come back and recommend to friends!

GREAT LEBANESE FOOD NEAR NOTRE DAME ======================================= I bookmarked this restaurant long before my trip to Paris because it was highly rated in the category of Lebanese restaurants. I was travelling with my cousin-in-law/vegan who needed to eat things that weren't animal based. The first time we tried to have dinner at Loubnane was on October 25, 2017 without a reservation. The restaurant was totally booked and there was no way they could fit us it. Not being able to get in was a drag, but it looked pretty popular so we decided to make a reservation for the next evening. So we went back again on October 26, 2017 after we had drinks and appetizers with family friends. They lived a couple blocks away and very close. We were having so much fun at Mimi's friend's home that it was difficult to leave, but we knew we had to go to Loubnane after so much effort. When we arrived at the restaurant we were seated downstairs. Please keep in mind that the stairs are pretty treacherous, so don't drink too much wine before walking down them. FOOD: 5/5 STARS We ordered the mezze sampler and loved everything. My vegan cousin-in-law fell off her vegan wagon and indulged in the chicken wings. Oh heck she fell off the wagon all week because I've never seen anyone eat so much cheese in my life. And, I don't think vegans buy leather products either. Sorry to get off on a tangent, but the food was delicious. I'd go again. SERVICE: 4/5 STARS I'm deducting one star because we got turned away the night before. If it was my business I would offer my potential customer a glass a wine and just let them wait until something opened up. The service was great the next day. AMBIANCE: 4/5 STARS It is a pretty restaurant. Check out my photos. I'd recommend going to Loubnane if you are in the Latin Quarter near Notre Dame, but don't forget to make a reservation.

Can we still be objective when we have known a restaurant for almost 30 years? We can always try. But, indeed, there is not much to say about the cuisine offered by the Loubnane. Even a (critical!) Lebanese friend of mine, who discovered the place three years ago, made it one of her canteens. That's all there is to it! Loubnane Décor[/caption] It is true that I also do my job quite badly since I am satisfied with the very large assortment of mezze which is more than enough to satisfy the ogre that I am. My preference is for Rakakat, these delicious little goat cheese cigarettes wrapped in a brik leaf and fried. To eat as soon as they arrive at the table because they are much better very hot. Loubnane Rakakat[/caption] Then, the Arrayes could be my entire meal. Buns stuffed with meat and herbs and then grilled in the oven. I'm not going to make you an inventory of hummus, baba ganesh and other samboussek (cheeses or meats) that dot the menu. Both a loyal cook and decades of experience give all these dishes an impeccable quality consistency. For lovers, we can note the presence of kebbé nayé, lamb tartare and raw beef, mixed with crushed wheat. In addition, the diversity of the Mezzés allows vegetarians to enjoy a varied meal without feeling like a fifth wheel. I brought vegetarian Indian customers who were amazed both at the cuisine and at the fact that it was the Parisian canteen of one of the biggest Indian billionaires! If you want a delivery onboard your private jet at Le Bourget, the house knows how to do it. However, desserts remain a diabetic suicide, whether in the form of dry honey-based pastries or fresh with cream. Including the famous Mouhallabiyeh, whose pronunciation difficulty is inversely proportional to the ease of tasting. A delight but beware of abuse. But the owners are not resting on their laurels. They sometimes create certain variations so as not to sclerose in tradition. And sometimes do me the honor of asking me for my opinion. For lighter desserts, among other things! As we are in one of the oldest districts of Paris, the basement conceals its secret garden in the form of an arched cellar, both for groups and for more private meals. Finally, for those who would like to organize special events, Matthieu Nassif is a co-manager of a large barge that can accommodate you for evenings on the Seine. For a more than reasonable price, you can organize receptions and birthdays with the full food service included. I tested it for you, and it was perfect! Opened in 1984, we can only hope that we will all be there to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment in 2024.

Meilleur restaurant Libanais que j'ai manger dans ma vie! Le service était impeccable aussi! On reviendrai sûrement .

Incredible food! Host made us feel like family. Offered garlic sauce that was heavenly for our entrees. Dessert kept the feast going. Highly recommend - we will tell our friends

I didn't make reservations but it seemed that was the normal thing to do, so I would recommend looking into that. Either way the host was able to seat us right away. We ordered the hummus and pita stuffed with chicken. They were great little bite sized appetizers packed with flavor! As we were eating the manager or owner came and sat with us to chit chat and he was doing that with all of the other customers as well! You can tell he really cares about your meal experience and shows great pride in his food. The food was amazing to say the least i couldn't finish the whole entree that I got (chicken kebab that came with potatoes, a salad with vinaigrette). He offered us suggestions on what to pair our entrees with that made accentuate the meal even more.

They say you need a reservation for dinner, but we got in without one. Menu is unique with information about Lebanese cuisine in the introduction. Service was great--waitress came over to talk about the menu and offer suggestions while the chef came out to ask if the food is okay. But, food is just okay and very pricey. I noticed that a lot of people ordered the variety of Lebanese food set, but that's very expensive at €25 per person. All the dishes looked like vegetables too and with hardly any meat. My lamb chops were what you would expect lamb to taste like, and my mom's slab of meat was marinated well and soft. The pita was harder than usual. Won't be back.

    Our 16 selections!!

We just ha wonderful meal!! We are stuffed!! We did not know what to get so we decided to get the 25e per person dinner. They gave us 16 different dishes. The salad were fresh and tasty!! I tried most of the offering, but there was a lot of little turnovers and stuffed foods. I loved the toubalah salad and hummus and goat cheese. The fried chicken wings were spectacular!! The falafel was delicious!! We enjoyed it all.

"Loubnane", meaning Lebanon in Lebanese (we were explained this during our meal).

My family and I came across Loubnane as we were walking through Paris. It looked like a nice restaurant from the outside, and seeing as we all love Lebanese food, we decided we'd call and reserve for one evening. We were 5 people, and easily got a table on the ground floor (they have tables on the floor below). As soon as we arrived, the staff gave us a warm and genuine welcome. They were so nice from start to finish, joking around with us and doing their best to recommend wine and food we'd like. Our family can be a bit picky (especially as there's an 11 y/o with us), so we decided to get the option 4 mezze which allowed us to share 16 dishes that each included 3 to 4 items (I think that was it, my memory is a bit foggy). We hadn't spoken to the waiter about the food yet, so we picked the dishes we wanted, and wrote it out on a piece of paper. We found out when ordering that the 16 mezze are chosen at random by the chef, but being as nice as they were (sorry again about out picky-ness!), they let us order those we'd written down. Now, important part, the FOOD! It was the best Lebanese food either one of us had had, nothing was dry, overcooked, too spicy (or spicy at all actually), and it disappeared faster than ever! I REALLY recommend you try this place out! Even the 11 y/o enjoyed it, and his go to meals are pizza and pasta. The wine was really well recommended too and was amazing (don't remember which one it was though, sorry!). We didn't try the desserts as we were stuffed, but I would be more than happy to organise a weekend in Paris again just to go back to Loubnane. So, in case my review was too long for you to read it all, here are the important points: Great service, friendly staff, amazing food and wine, and great location. Oh and you must reserve to eat there, they specify this in their menu. Hope you get a table, and if so, enjoy!

    Lam N.

Located on a hard-to-find street of the Quartier Latin, with a charming interior. Long menu, with all the well-known and popular Lebanese dishes. Execution, however, is a bit of a let down. A few starters are very good, but the main dishes we had were at best mediocre, and the pita bread cold and chewy. Extremely warm and helpful staff, led by friendly owner Matthieu. The Lebanese wines tend to be pricey for the quality.

    Mezze for one - incredible!

Five Fabulous Stars for: 1) Amazing Falafel, just so delicious and crispy on the outside and not pasty but perfect on the inside. Hot and fresh, they had a few in the bin but told me it would be a couple of minutes for the new ones. Love it! 2) Love the limitless topping bar with a bunch of great sauces and veggie toppings. The grilled cauliflower was DAYUMMM ( CJ in NY I am trying but only you have the true impact) as were the marinated chick peas. The green sauce Wowza! Fries were fantastic with a killer seasoning. 3) The hours are perfect for the jet lagged and up at 1:15 am ( Paris time which is 7:15 pm previous day in NY) folks with the gavone hunger pangs. Close at 2 am Thursday through Saturday. Open at 11 am daily. 4) Nice location right in the 5th district of Paris ( Latin Quarter) just south of the Siene river. Clean interior and COVID and mask compliant. 5) 2 fivers for a big ass falafel sandwich, plus a huge order of fries and a bottle of Perrier. No that's too French. Just regular agua. The employees are sweet and generous and kept piling on the toppings per my request,. Nine Euros( $ 10.20 approx) is a steal for this quality and quantity plus the excellent and generous service. Few seats inside. Just grab the two mega falafel sandwiches, walk a few yards and grab a seat next to me ( or 2 metres away ;) in this very cool district of Paris.

The only reason why Au Vieux Cèdre's bewitching Shawarma does not appear in the pages of "A…read moreMoveable Feast" is because the small Lebanese joint opened its doors more than half a century after Ernest Hemingway lived (and ate) literally around the corner... A stone throw away from La Place de la Contrescarpe, and Hemingway's apt at 74 Rue du Cardinal Lemoine (the place where Verlaine died as well), I can assure you that the voracious writer would have devoured many a shawarma, kastas or falafels, as these are indeed "moveable feasts" that you can savor on the go while on your Paris explorations, without being rattan chair bound elbow-to-elbow with other Parisians, as you surely will be (and should be) eventually. This little hole in the wall has indeed the best shawarma I've ever had in three continents, and it's a must have for those on literary pilgrimages in the area. Also try the Soujouk; squashy spicy beef with tomato and hummus. Now, for good measure, let me clear my throat *ahem* La seule raison pour laquelle Au Vieux Cèdre's enchantant Shawarma n'apparaît pas dans les pages du "A Moveable Feast"; est parce que le petit joint Libanais a ouvert ses portes davantage que le demi-siècle après qu'Ernest Hemingway ait vécu (et a mangé) littéralement autour le coin...
