Both were super unique and I couldn't choose a favorite. Sumac to finish a cocktail? Wow. I could not possibly recommend Assanabel enough. The food here was exceptional. For starters, we got their tabbouleh, stuffed grape leaves, and the pita with cheese and peppers. We had the chicken shawarma for an entree - stellar. Tender, well-seasoned. Not a single complaint. Servers also spoke English and were welcoming and happy to accommodate. We squeezed in without a reservation, but there was only one other empty table. Best to call ahead or reserve online!

cozy food and lovely service! very warm interior, with a very fresh and constantly updated menu…read morethat has lots of options for everyone! in a nice quiet street in paris, that offered a great refuge from the cold. prices are reasonable, and the service was really amazing! we walked in without a reservation, and were seated near the door, but the interior is very small, so i would suggest coming earlier. for an appetizer, we had the eggplant puree (baba ganoush), and it was very classic - no complaints. we ordered one of the beef saj, which was quite nice, and very filling for a good price. the fries were nice and crispy and flavorful, while still being soft and fluffy inside. the dipping sauce was also very nice - almost like a spiced thousand island sauce. the other item that we ordered was the plate of the day (ratatouille), which was very balanced. it came with rice and a side salad. i will say that it wasn't really a traditional view of ratatouille, as i would assume there to be more zucchini/etc, but it was delicious nonetheless. to compensate for the cold, the owners offered us a free coffee or dessert, of which we chose the latter, which were nutella pitas! even gave us a little discount on our meal :-)

The portions are generous and I recommend sharing a plate or pita with someone because it's a lot! Great place to stop by after a day of shopping. Close at 2 am Thursday through Saturday. Open at 11 am daily. 4) Nice location right in the 5th district of Paris ( Latin Quarter) just south of the Siene river. Clean interior and COVID and mask compliant. 5) 2 fivers for a big ass falafel sandwich, plus a huge order of fries and a bottle of Perrier. No that's too French. Just regular agua. The employees are sweet and generous and kept piling on the toppings per my request,. Nine Euros( $ 10.20 approx) is a steal for this quality and quantity plus the excellent and generous service. A stone throw away from La Place de la Contrescarpe, and Hemingway's apt at 74 Rue du Cardinal Lemoine (the place where Verlaine died as well), I can assure you that the voracious writer would have devoured many a shawarma, kastas or falafels, as these are indeed "moveable feasts" that you can savor on the go while on your Paris explorations, without being rattan chair bound elbow-to-elbow with other Parisians, as you surely will be (and should be) eventually. This little hole in the wall has indeed the best shawarma I've ever had in three continents, and it's a must have for those on literary pilgrimages in the area. Also try the Soujouk; squashy spicy beef with tomato and hummus. This was my favorite fast food spot while in my 3 month + Paris residency, and the perfect antebellum when sauntering the quaintness of the Rue Mouffetard.
