I've been coming here almost every day for years, and somehow I neglected to leave a review. It's about time I fixed that. This is a small, family-owned place that does things the right way. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff is friendly, and it's the kind of place where you can sit down, relax, and enjoy your morning coffee without feeling rushed. In a city full of chain stores and corporate coffee shops, places like this are becoming harder and harder to find. The bagels are excellent, the coffee is consistently good, and they make a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich exactly the way a New Yorker expects it to be made. Simple, fresh, and satisfying. Oof! They are VERY overpriced... My husband and I usually get our bagels from a different local spot that's further away, however we decided to give this place a try after running a 5K on Saturday. Everything was very chaotic from the start. The person who took our order asked us to repeat it about 3 times, which should've been a sign.. After taking our order, we awkwardly stood there waiting to pay. Then a second employee asked us what we wanted to order, which was puzzling. We told her that we already ordered and needed to pay. We stepped closer to the register, but then she began to ring up the gentleman who had ordered a few minutes before us. Very confusing. We ordered 2 everything bagels (toasted) with egg and extra cheese (one slice Munster, one slice cheddar). I've ordered this exact same bagel at many other establishments and have never had an issues with it, however this place didn't seem to understand. They gave us our 2 bagels: one with 2 slices of cheddar, the other with 2 slices of Munster.. We ended up paying $6 MORE (before tip) for the same thing we get from somewhere else further away. However our order was wrong and the bagels themselves weren't anything special - just average. We're not planning to come back. I really liked the bagels here because they're old-fashioned water-boiled bagels -- dense, fresh, and much better than most other spots on the same block. I've stopped by many many times for takeout and never paid much attention to the service. Usually there's an Asian lady working who is friendly and efficient. Recently, though, I've been seeing another older woman working there, and unfortunately she's been consistently rude. She barely speaks English, so I often have to repeat my order multiple times, which already makes the interaction frustrating. On several occasions she was yelling at customers, and the last time they got my order wrong, I politely pointed it out and she responded by yelling at me and practically throwing the order back at me. Quality seems to have changed a bit in recent years, coupled with prices going too far up. Prices were raised when eggs were temporarily high-priced, but never lowered prices after, so it's really quite expensive compared to other options. Really depends who is at the grill to get a good order. Had enough orders done technically right but not well to stop coming. They've recently taken to imitating other long-popular shops' menus by copying one-of-a-kind Korean bagel sandwiches originated by Ben at Between the Bagel on 30th Ave., which feels weird. Terrible experience , second time already. They are poor with online orders and are not honest with the customers . I was told the food had been out for delivery on two separate occasions . Only to find out it never left the store. I waited an hour and a half , reached out to grub hub and grub hub canceled my order . Used to come here as a kid and it was my favorite bagel. The bagels were fluffy with a crisp outside, just absolutely delicious. The bagels are still good but I don't feel like they are as good as they used to be throughout the years. It's nice that they offer tofu cream cheese options and is still a solid bagel spot. Opened early and on my way to an early weekend shift at the hospital, the staff were extremely kind and helpful. The menu has a variety of options and dependable breakfast sandwiches. The coffee is great tasting, and the bagel fillings are generous. Granted, there are plenty of good breakfast spots in this area of Astoria so it's difficult to identify features that help separate this from other spots. Food selections deviate from the norm, in a good way, though. They offer acai bowls, "overnight oats" and "overnight chia seeds," for those who wish to try something different. They have savory French Toast bagels right behind the cash register to tempt your appetite, and flaunt their rainbow bagels (for good reasons). This place used to be great but their prices have risen even more, and the last few orders were totally disappointing. Paid extra for an Everything bagel, medium toasted; got a plain bagel that was doughy and barely toasted. The farmer's omelette was more potatoes than anything else. The last breakfast that I had, they didn't even bother to cook the onions and the peppers in the eggs, just sliced cold onion and some pepper pieces on the egg. I got a bacon egg and cheese on an asiago bagel which was stuffed to the max as you can see from my photo. They have so many different flavors of cream cheeses too. After owners/management changed, food portions have gone down while prices went up. I've given them a few tries just to see if it was just an off day but they are consistently really skimping on the fillings and the bagels are tough, so disappointing. My go to spot when I'm in Astoria. I personally think it's better than all the other popular spots. It's very consistent which is key. The bagels are very big and always cooked perfectly. I may go as far as saying that they have the best bacon scallion cream cheese. No other spot has been better than theirs and I've had plenty. They have a huge selection of cream cheeses in general. I also really line their bacon egg and cheese. The owner is one of the nicest people I've ever met. She runs a great business and loves to get to her customers. Bagel with egg and sausage was like $6.25. That won't make me full so I asked how much would it be with pastrami and it was almost $10. I didn't mind the price but when I got my food, I only got egg and pastrami without the sausage. I was like where is the sausage? She told me I ordered the egg and pastrami and I guess she misunderstood me because I wanted all 3! The pastrami is weak because it's supermarket meat, boars head and nothing special. I would not opt for egg and pastrami because the pastrami is thinly sliced and less filling compared to getting the sausage and I also paid more with the pastrami. Overall, I liked the bagel but I was not thrilled about the egg and pastrami. Lacked flavor. I probably will look elsewhere for breakfast sandwiches in the future. read more

Bagels were nice and fresh. However, there are not many options for cold cuts- I only saw one meat option which was Boars Head and multiple mixed brand cheeses. Don't expect much more from this bagel store besides an assortment of cream cheese or butter. Also, not many chips (no Lays, Doritos, or "normal" chips options, all were gourmet) or drink choices. This is an "upscale" bagel store and pretty expensive. I got an apple juice, a buttered bagel, and two scrambled eggs on a bagel and it came out to 9$. The bagels here are actually pretty good and for a quick pick me up walking past it, it's definitely 5 stars. Delivery is a miss. It's always an hour plus wait to get your food and it just doesn't taste the same. Food prices have also gone up these past couple of years quite a bit!
