One of the coolest locations of a skatepark on the east coast. Reminds me of the old Washington DC skatepark under 695

This place is the best skatepark I've been to in Miami. Point. Blank. Period. Nothing else I need to say.

This is a review for the Christmas installation they have at the park. The entrance is a bit…read moreconfusing but they have people directing you where to go. This is such a cute and nice use of the park. I loved it.

I love tropical park…read more I've been coming to this park for like 30 years . Not sure if you are a fan of running you can use causeway and bridges for hill and speed work. There's something nostalgic about running up what used to feel like a mountain, but in actuality is a hill. This park has a bit of everything for folks who want to get in a jog in a safe and close place to birthday parties, events, family outings, even spend a little bit of time on the water There are basketball and tennis courts and a great equestrian center . The other side of this park used to be a winter time Christmas celebration. The park itself has a plethora of random parking spots , but my favorite thing has to be being outdoors in a safe place Please, no as with virtually all other places, I am not wanting to hang around after dark . Additionally, though there is a regulation 400 m track on the bird road side of the park that opens early, I am not one to arrive somewhere before the sun comes up. That being said the hours of operation are convenient for folks who are visiting and want to just relax or for those that are training for something physical and getting healthy and prefer being outdoors instead of inside a gym with recirculated air Tip: the distance from SW. 56th St. to SW. 40th St. is exactly 1 mile. If you run along the west side of the park, you can literally run safely without heavily tracking distance and instead focus on the run and how you feel I highly encourage anyone who hasn't been to this park to visit it and touch grass every now and then . I love it and I will continue doing so anytime. I'm in town.

Many parks in Miami were created out of reclaimed land which is one of the most cost effective ways…read moreto create new parks. Prime land is turned into developments while dirty land that was a trash dump or an incinerator site years ago gets cleaned up and repurposed as a park as is the case with Westwind Lakes Park. When Westwind Lakes Park was built the county discovered methane leaking from the ground caused by buried organic waste. A venting system was installed to make the land safe for a park. Today Westwinds Lake Park is a popular recreational destination for families with children. The park features a splash pad and large covered playground for outdoor fun. The park also has a skate park with two six foot quarter pipes, rails, launch and bank ramps, a wall ride, stairs and different sized hubbas, a ledge that angles down a set of stairs. A memorial to Columbia is also in Westwinds Lake Park. Kendall sometimes called Little Colombia, has a strong Colombian influence in its population, restaurants, and culture. The memorial highlights Kendall's deep-rooted connection to their Colombian heritage. Other park amenities include picnic pavilions with tables, outdoor fitness equipment, a paved walking course, sand volleyball court, and a recreation center that offers an afterschool program, school break camps for kids, active older adult, and fitness programs. Whether you're looking for a picnic, workout, or a family-friendly outing, this park provides something for everyone. The well-maintained facilities make Westwind Lakes Park a welcome destination for locals and visitors alike.
