It is merely an open park, open to the public skating community. It has some nice ramps and a very nice bowl; and wide open skating lanes for practicing whatever. As a parent, I've brought my child here multiple times. It always has skaters of all ages and experience levels. What's cool is that the skating subculture is pretty accepting of any and all willing to get on a board. There are 6 year kids skating like they have skated for decades; there are teens who are complete beginners; and their are adults of various ages that have skated for years, and now have their own kids skating. It's pretty family oriented with benches throughout and parents observing. There is good lighting for the evening hours; and by and large most of the skaters behave pretty well and are respectful and even friendly with each other. Negatives: Unfortunately, it only has portable restrooms. A permanent restroom structure would probably be better. You will smell some occasional weed, particularly in the parking lot across the street; but it's not something that most of the skaters seem to use or push openly. I have never seen any signs of open drug sales or wide usage. Certainly no drug related misbehavior. There is a small frozen lemonade stand here. A lunch truck or something similar could probably do well here.

Not sure why they had two portapottys in front of the gender assigned bathroom gazebo. We watched a guy practicing soccer on the open field. Thought I found a good fishing spot at the front canal, but as I got closer I noticed an alligator warning sign. It was green and murky so perfect place for a gator attack. (See Pic). The Loggers Run Pavilion can be rented out by scanning the QR Code. During a picnic the kids can play on the nearby jungle gym. Love these parks during the day when not packed.

This city park is huge -- about 25 acres -- and full of recreational and sports opportunities…read more Located on the west side of Dixie Highway/ U.S. 1 south of Southern Boulevard. It's easily accessible and there is a large parking lot. The first thing you see when entering the park are these majestic trees. These huge, tall banyan ficus are grouped together in a grove. Their extending roots and extra trunks appear to be a throw back to another era. Based on the age of the park, itself, we know they are at least 70 something years old. In one of my photos. I stood at the base of one tree so you can get a perspective of how tall these trees are. These trees alone are a reason to visit. Of course, if you are sports minded, there are courts for basketball, soccer, tennis, and pickleball. There's a separate skate boarding park newly revised this year. Plus a playground, exercise/walking trail, pavilions, and picnic areas. And the separate baseball section (see other Yelp listing). In between all the wonderful sports court areas are lovely green swaths of grass. Overall, this is a beautiful park packed with possibilities. I'm so glad I found it and visited here.

You still have to pay for parking. I recommend the parking lot next door. The Pirate Park Playground was built by Superior Playgrounds who was tasked with designing a one-of-a-kind pirate theme play space to spark creative play and provide a safe place for budding buccaneers to play. The playground is made of recycled material like milk jugs and was created to be corrosion resistant so that it would always look good in this salt water coastal ecosystem. Located only 100 feet from the beach, the playground is fenced in for safety. There is a large pirate ship for older children to climb on and slide down and a smaller area for younger privateers. The crows nest with rigging looked especially fun to climb. Other playground play structures include clownfish and blue tang fish spring riders, a custom octopus playhouse, and palm tree shade. There are four triangle sail shades and poured-in-place safety surfacing to protect little knees and bottoms. Bathrooms are nearby. During my visit the playground was filled with kids and their families enjoying the nautical theme. This unique play space fosters imagination and physical movement for the youngest North Beach residents and visitors.
