I was doing an order for someone and I was excited to put this on my foodie list but very rude service. Definitely felt like there was discrimination on who received their orders first. About 3-4 people got their orders ASAP from when they order AFTER me while my 2x bean/rice tacos and 2x migas tacos took over 40min. When I asked for an ETA for the customer she said to give her time that she is working on it but gave a white man who order 30mins after my order (he order after my request for an ETA) his food in less than 10min. There was a black man waiting long before me who also experienced others' orders being taken and received before he got his own. I was about to cancel the order and ask for a refund for the customer when she just handed it to me with an attitude. My husband and used to love this place but it has gone down. Last time we went the bacon and egg taco were nice and filled. But the bean and cheese taco was a flat sliver of bean and cheese when they used to be a good amount. Especially when the prices were raised. And when they got to our table they weren't even hot like previous visits. I don't know if they were running low on ingredients but the past few visits have not been a good experience. Also connected to a gas station, so it's great if you want to get some drinks and other snacks with your breakfast tacos here. Since they do make the eggs fresh, when it gets busy be prepared to wait 15 plus minutes on your order. These are the best breakfast tacos I have ever had in my entire life! Now that is saying something as I was born and raised in the city of San Antonio, Texas. This hidden gem is located in a very affluent area of Houston, the memorial park/river oaks area. I was stunned and shocked to find this wonderful little Mexican taco breakfast place. The few times that I have been there I have seen 3 to 4 older Hispanic women working away, slicing and dicing fresh ingredients and making fresh homemade tortillas. So it was very obvious that the tacos were going to taste very fresh and delicious. I personally had the potato and egg, bean and cheese, Barbacoa, and bacon and egg tacos, and they were phenomenal. The tacos were not too greasy and not too salty. They were a perfect combination of flavor and freshness. The homemade salsa is available and mild and hot and both add the perfect flavor to any of the tacos they sell. I can't emphasize enough how these are homemade to order using very fresh high-quality ingredients. you would not know it because this is attached to a gas station and well normally gas station food is not very good but this is definitely delicious and outstanding. It is also important to note that the coffee is very good not too strong and not too weak. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area or for any reason, these are well worth it. read more

This was $8.99 plus tip and tax makes this a breakfast over $10. The 2x tortillas are hand made, the eggs are great and so are the beans. This easily makes two large tacos you can share. I wasn't wowed, but the food is good, it's just there's better breakfast out there for $10. I'd give it 3-1/2 to 4 stars. I should note, I spoke with a few of the customers and they were all repeat customers from near by, one lady raved about the place. Were you ever denied something and it just made you crazy with desire? All of the guys can answer with a resounding "yes" for many reasons that we're not going into. We're keeping this classy. Sunrise Taquito appeared on my radar about 2 months ago after I read the high-praise reviews of Agustin S and Sergio S. Interesting for several reasons: - Housed next door to the Memorial Drive Shell gas station. - Shares a door with said gas station. - Bourgeois Inner Loop-Memorial neighborhood means that its not going to be skanky. - Big menu on the wall with choices and prices. - Mysteriously closed with a handwritten note: "Closed for gas main installation". - Pretty, clean, and classic Mexican decor from what I could see in the windows. Yes, I have no shame - I've peeked in all of the windows to see what I could see. Being denied entrance for weeks with no idea when I could get in just drove me wild. Sort of a taqueria cock block, if you will. [Okay, we're not keeping it classy anymore]. I came by several weekends in a row with that same sign in the window. The pretty interior mocked me: "Look but don't touch. Oh, you want to get inside? Amuse me and you might get your chance." After seeing Gina M's review, I knew the doors were open. Made good on my promise to get inside Saturday and experience the stuff. Ordered up 2 carne guisada tacos ($2.25 each) and one chorizo and egg taco ($1.49) and sat down at the clean Formica table. It was fun to watch the three ladies in the kitchen with the various cuts of meat and vegetables put together the items as well as prep to-go and eat-in orders. Fresh, made-to-order tacos were presented in 5 minutes. Two salsas, a mild red and a fiery green, were available in squeeze bottles. The chorizo and egg one was delicious: texturally balanced between velvety eggs and roughly chopped chorizo, the meat was spiced with a nice kick. It was perfect just the way it was made. The carne guisada tacos were delightful, too. Agustin is spot-on in his review of this item. Tender meat with a lipsmacking good gravy were coddled in the soft freshly griddled tortilla. Adding a bit of either salsa per bite put the icing on the proverbial cake. Got there around 845 AM. By 910 AM, the place was full. Get there early or be prepared to wait a bit. Enjoy the view of the parking lot and the runners on their way to and from Memorial Park. The sun has risen again on Sunrise Taquito and it is a good day after being sated on some morning delight. Passing this place a number of times over the last few months, I was in the area and decided - why not? Let's see what this little hole in the wall of the Shell Station has to offer. I arrived around 6:30am and the crowds had not started to build yet, but by 7:00am there was a line. I ordered migas and was pleasantly surprised. The ladies cook your food in an open kitchen with lots of joyful banter among them. I was impressed at how much these ladies seemed to enjoy working with each other and cooking the foods that they know best. Needless to say, the service was incredible. Each order is cooked individually, so yes there is a slight wait that is going to be associated with your order. If you want breakfast tacos fast - try McDonald's. This is homemade food and that takes time, but is well worth the wait. I had the migas, which came with refried beans and potatoes. It is was delicious. The sauce (green and red) is in the cold drinks cooler - help yourself. I normally think of red sauce as being the hotter, but the green sauce was actually the hotter of the two. I will definitely be back to try the tacos and maybe even try to have the lunch special one day. If they are anything like the migas, I will quickly become a regular. read more

The tacos here are amazing. Quality ingredients, everything is fresh made to order. Everything(except the corn tortillas) is made on premises. Sometimes the cashier can be unfriendly, but, as a regular, I have no issue with her. Try greeting her first with a friensly good morning and that will go a long way. read more

I ordered to go. I got the migas breakfast plate with fajita. It was really good. They give you a lot of food and it's very filling. My plate was $10. $6.99 without the meat. So really good authentic and not expensive! The food does not have a lot of salt which is okay by me! I rather my food have less salt and I can add If I need to other then being too salty. read more

This is my favorite place to get breakfast tacos in Houston, no doubt. I have to thank Jen and Hal F. for telling me they moved here! This place = breakfast of my childhood. Back when it was Taquito Joe's on Bellaire & Gessner, my dad would take me here almost every Saturday morning to get breakfast and lunch. I would get a taco for breakfast then one to eat during lunch at Chinese school (the good ole days). I love their potatoes, bacon, and salsa! I've always gotten a variation of bacon/potato, egg/potato, bacon/egg, etc. Sadly haven't tried anything else besides breakfast tacos - why should I when they're so delicious?! I could eat these for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! I feel like it's great value and appreciate that they take credit card even if there's a minimum charge. Service was great today; David C. and I both got our food pretty quickly. When I've come by on weekdays, it does take awhile longer during the busy lunch rush - but it's totally worth the wait! However, the cat's already outta the bag at Sunrise Taquito. You'll find a hefty line on weekday mornings with a diverse audience eager to stroll out with a bag of breakfast tacos. I was particularly fond of the refried beans and egg version I had as well as the bacon and egg. The key to these tacos is the homemade tortillas that are made in-house. There's a reason you come to Yelp and not google reviews. I always feel Yelp is a better representation of rated food spots. I say this because this is something like 4.5 stars on google and 3.5 here I believe. I alway think maybe google would get it right and never do. So to the review. But flavor ehhhh idk just lacking it for me. Eggs were just eggs, no salt, no pepper. Texture of the eggs were ok. The meat were ok, nothing to run home about. And the cheese to me was the worst of all. My cheese wasn't melted it was greesy and just wasn't pleasant to me. I felt if they added a little salt maybe some pepper I'd say it was a good taco but because of the lack of those two important seasonings I'll leave it at just meh. An ok taco at best! OH YEA THE TORTILLAS! I thought the tortillas was pretty good. Def made in store and I enjoyed that part of it! All in all I probably won't be coming here! Really good basic tacos. None of the fancy torchy's or velvet tacos- just good ole tacos on real tortillas. Made hot and fresh. The family comes here after church often and my kid will inhale their bacon egg and cheese. I like the brand and rice. The salsas are green or red. Both are lovely. After reading so many positive reviews about this place on yelp and seeing it mentioned in several best of lists, I had to stop by this place. Survey says... They're good and fresh but I'm wondering if people's marks are inflated from starting off with their breakfast tacos prior to their run through Memorial Park or after having finished off some lunch tacos after their run. If you're jogging or hungry, of course it's going to be the greatest thing ever. The tacos are pricey but they are filling due to their very doughy tortilla. It's almost as thick as gordita bread. The fillings are made fresh not from a steam tray but they don't garnish their meat tacos it seems. We finally stopped by @1030 on Saturday - there was a big crowd waiting for food. Prices were cheap. Ordered 4 chorizo & egg breakfast taquitos and a small menudo. What a wait! 20 minutes! Everything is very fresh - the taquitos came out as tacos - I thought that taquitos were crunchy and fried, but I could be wrong. The flour tortilla is made there and very thick. The menudo was tasty - like a Bun Bo Hue with no spice and more grease. Healthy looking crowd, most looked like they were headed to run at Memorial Park. The cars were very expensive. Might be a good pickup place for single folks since the wait is so long. They are open at 0600 and maybe we'll try them earlier next time. Most were regulars who didn't mind waiting. The past few times I've been here, it's been pretty sub par. I came around 9 am on a Saturday, and while the place was not packed, the wait for food took forever. I had a surprisingly long wait on a random weekday late morning as well. Last time, the cashier was writing down large order after large order (which was odd b/c she wasn't on the phone) while asking for my order (which was small), and then put those orders before mine. That sucked. I definitely saw people who came in and ordered later get their orders sooner than I did, which was odd. The salsa is tasty, but the barbacoa was okay...kind of fatty. It had an off-putting smell and I couldn't even finish it. The migas taco had big onion chunks, which really detracted from it. Torchy's does a way better migas taco. Also, they used cheddar cheese instead of the tasty white cheese. Meh. Call in your order if you plan to try this place. read more
