I will NEVER come back to this place again. The server lupita was a joke. I ordered a side of eggs for my child and she waited 25 min to let me know they ran out of eggs. She came back at least 3 times asking us to repeat our order even tho she wrote it down. I also ordered the eggs with ham Plate and it was litteraly just ham. She Never came to our table to check up on us. read more

I'm surprised at the amount of good reviews, I came and asked for chicken tacos and the chicken was dry and it felt like it had no seasoning, not even a little bit of juice so that the chicken wouldn't be so hard to swallow down, so I ordered some again and the chicken still felt the same. Prices are okay. read more

Delicious food at reasonable prices. They have great tacos. The chicken is always so juicy and their green salsa is amazing! Their guacamole is hit or miss, sometimes it's spot on and the best and others it's just ok. Highly recommend them though and even though we moved, still drive half an hour when wanting Mexican food. read more

Not my cup of tea. The steak left a really bad after taste. Never will visit this place again.

The best tacos & tortas in town!tampiqueña was perfect, chilaquiles for breakfast are delicious..

Yesterday, I found my new go-to taco joint in the SW burbs. Good stuff, indeed! I went on taco Tuesday and I had to put the breaks on the chips and salsa. They were so good, but I knew I had to put away 3 tacos! Horchata is my go-to drink of choice but theirs was a bit heavy on the cinnamon and possibly nutmeg. Still good, though. I started with the steak, w/cilantro and onion only. While not the char-broiled variety most people prefer, myself included, this was mighty tasty. It was finely diced up and had a flavorful, juicy seasoning which I complemented with a squeeze of lime and a bit of the pico de gallo salsa. Next up was the all-white-meat chicken, again, cilantro and onion only. This was a bit of disappointment. It was juicy, but pretty bland. The salsa and lime could barely save it. Skip the pollo! Finally, the verdict on the pork, better known as pastor, was a bit mixed. I prefer the meat to be marinated along with pineapple and onions, and it was. However, it had a slight bitterness from the pineapple instead of a sweetness. I will try again next time and hope the flavor improves. The tacos were average size but not overly stuffed. It was taco Tuesday after all, $1.50 tacos all day, so I couldn't expect them to be. All in all, though, this place merits a return visit! read more

This place is awesome, and the Mexican food is unbelievable... The best I ever had here in the South suburb!! And the price will not break the bank... Very tasty and well seasoned... It satisfy all 6 senses and some... If you hadn't tried them, check them out! read more

No need to look any further this very authentic kitchen cooked food. A great place to go if you want to have a nice meal, great prices and full belly. read more

Solid food, great portions, good prices, fast reliable service, one of the best Mexican food places in the south suburbs.

Terrible food, and service! Not once did any of the waitresses available check on us! Tampiqueña was flavorless and very chewy just plain nasty! read more

My new favorite! Great value and excellent quality. I've had both their chicken and steak and both were great. Fresh chips are thick, salsa is fairly mild. Lots of different hot sauce on table. read more

This place is amazing. Some of the best Mexican food around the area. Chips and salsa are homemade. We had steak burritos and steak tacos which the steak was so flavorful. We will be coming back soon. Highly recommend checking this place out. The staff are very friendly and treat you like family. read more

The tacos al pastor are plentyfull in meat and well worth the money. One of my new fav restaurants

This is such a quaint restaurant that I drove right by it! But I'm glad we found it. This was our first time trying this restaurant after looking on Yelp for good reviews about Mexican Restaurants in the area, as our "Go to" Mexican Restaurant no longer has dinner hours. When I walked in there wasn't any customers so there was no wait except for me looking over the menu. We had a Taco and Burrito dinner with ground beef. The prices were reasonable about $20 for the 2 dinners. The wait was only about 20 minutes, and we thoroughly enjoyed the food! The rice was a little different because it had vegetables in it but the rice was fluffy and flavorful, the beans were good also and not too thick, and the tacos & burrito were a nice size and full of flavor. One of our highlights was the salsa & chips, I will definitely be back for them again! The green taco/burrito sauce was also very tasty, the red wasn't good at all though. This has become our new backup Mexican food restaurant! Small spot, not much to look at and if you're not looking you'll miss it, but they have some good food! So we'll be back when our taste buds are looking for some good Mexican food! read more

While traveling for business in the area we checked out Los Sarapes based on the high yelp reviews. We were not disappointed! The mixed fajitas were amazing, the large perfectly grilled shrimp were the highlight. It also included chicken, beef, cactus, jalapeños, and plenty of grilled peppers and onions. They give you so much food two people could split the fajitas. We have been there two weeks in a row now and will return next time we are in the area! read more

Took pregnant wife there for lunch yesterday. I ordered mixed fajitas and she had a few smaller dishes. Everything was great and service was friendly and attentive. Great local place. Will return for sure, and soon. read more

You always know if the food will be good or not at a Mexican restaurant by the way their chips taste. At Los Sarapes they use the chips bought from El Milagro which are good but doesn't impress me most restaurants make their chips. Tacos are a hit or miss. I guess it depends on what cook is making them but there are times when the tacos are good and there are other times when you get nothing but fat on the asada tacos. There's nothing else in the area that can really compete with them so I take my chances from time to time. read more

I must say the carne asada and steak there are fantastic! The beans and rice are excellent as well and the service was great.. definitely stop by and grab some steak!!!! read more

Caliente (best place around there) was closed for repairs or something so we tried this place. It was.....Ok, not good enough to go back. Half the chips in our basket were stale.....just half, how does that happen....I'll let you make your own assumptions on that. Guacamole was so bland and had 1 tomato chunk in it. Im still confused by the texture of it. I would of rather had the store bought stuff. I had to mix it with the salsa just to be able to eat it. They charge $2 for an extra thing of chips btw. I got the carne asada and my husband got a steak burrito. Mine was ok...not great...just good enough to eat not love . The "steak" burrito had very very very little steak and tons of something that looked like ground beef slop. He ate very little and tossed it. It's like they were trying to pass it off as steak by putting a few steak chunks in there but save money by adding meat slop.... which I thought was beans at first glance....second glance definitely not beans. Maybe there's better stuff on the menu but in my opinion we shoulda left after the chips, salsa And guacamole came to the table because if you can't put out some good guacamole then you have no business owning a Mexican restaurant. I actually was concerned we were gonna get sick on the way home (didn't though....that's the only plus) Go the caliente across from mcdonalds on Pulaski & 147th. Never been let down there. read more

Service was a tad slow, but the young lady handling orders was beyond kind. Steak tacos are really good, get them with cilantro and onion only! Great sauces and salsa also. A new favorite for authentic Mexican food. read more

Went there for breakfast - rice was flavorless, beans were not good and horchata had a weird taste.

Went there today for the first time. Its hard to find good Mexican food unless your in the city. Place was awesome. There salsa is definitely some of the best Ive ever had. I had four steak tacos that were seasoned perfectly and they werent little ass tacos either. Definitely found my new spot. Awesome horchata as well read more

No Margaritas! The guacamole was plain, the chips weren't great but the tacos...OMG! We had beef, steak, chicken, and pork and they were equally delicious! read more

Awesome food!!! Our waitress Sharon was as good as they come. Service was great. We felt like we were family by the time we left. This family owned business is run with love and pride . Mama makes all the pico de guillo and sauces herself and cooks as well. The food is amazing!! We wanted to try everything. I had the Carne Asada dinner in which the steak was so flavorful and tender the knife just seemed to glide right through it. I did sneak a couple of bites of my partners Chorizo/Asada and Avocado Taco and it was insanely good. We will be back soon as this is our new favorite Mexican restaurant. Prices are very reasonable too. read more

It's a shame the food is excellent here but sadly we will never be coming back here. The last time we came the service was poor, we came in for dinner even when most of us felt reluctant because of the service-the food is very good so we went. Everything was fine till our waitress was switched out by someone else who ran out our meal, our appetizer came out at the same time as our meal we ordered flour tortillas with appetizer and corn with the meal; we were brought the wrong tortillas when the girl came back with more tortillas still they weren't the proper tortillas. When we attempted to ask for the right tortillas the waitress then exploded on our party and was extremely rude and loud, we asked to speak to someone else and this women claimed to be the manager. She was extremely loud and rude and was a step above belligerent. She basically told us to leave if we didn't like the service when we told her as a manager she should not be yelling at her guest. (Because that's how a business should treat their customers, as guest.) We felt very unwelcome and belittled and humiliated and we left. It's a shame we will never come back because of exactly this reason. The food is great but no good food is worth being disrespected in such a way and then be expected to pay for the embarrassment and disrespect. They lost good paying customers. I've worked in retail and customer service for over 6 years I've dealt with many mean nasty customers who one almost even got physical with me, and yet still never not once have I ever EVER raised my voice at a customer. Completely unacceptable. Before leaving we spoke to the owner and she was not a manager which makes her a liar. & still he was not going to fire her. I cannot give any money to a business no matter how good their food is when they have such bad customer service. It's about the customer, always. If you don't feel that way in this line of work then your in the wrong line of work. read more
