Placed our order via Doordash. Ordered two meals and churros with vanilla ice cream. I used the fact my churros came with vanilla ice cream to start with dessert. The churros were still a little warm nice and soft on the inside. Just the right amount of cinnamon sugar. Ice cream was really good almost tasted like maybe it could have been homemade? I ordered garlic shrimp. The sauce was white and soupy. Wish the garlic sauce was a different consistency. But whatever the sauce was had plenty of garlic. The shrimp were very big! I used the remaining amount of sauce to give the yellow rice a boost. My husband had the chicken fajitas. He liked the portion size he had enough for leftovers. The chicken was tender. He would have liked the containers of guac and sour cream to be bigger or more of them. I would eat at Los Riveras again. read more

Found this place on our way to New York City. Nice little quaint restaurant with an authentic, welcoming feel. The service was great -- our waitress did a fantastic job managing the room with ease and friendliness. If you're a margarita fan, you're in luck -- these babies were huge. We started with the plantains, which were unique and paired really well with the homemade guacamole. My main dish was something new for me -- Sopas -- and it was very good. We went in for dinner on a snowy day. There is decent street parking available to go here. The place was fairly empty given the weather. We ordered 1 chicken taco, 1 spicy pork taco w/ pineapple. The meat in the tacos were bland. It felt very American rather than Mexican. The enchiladas later were reasonable. They were fully cooked and allowed us to choose between chicken and pork. I tried the mole sauce for the first time. I realized I'm not a huge fan of this sauce. The beans also looked like they came straight from a can. Overall, there are still much better options for Mexican food in the area. read more

Very authentic Mexican food. Very stylish interior. The hostess suggested alternatives what we first thought of. And, we were open to suggestions. Her alternatives came out to be really good. Mom night out yesterday and we tried out Los Rivera Cafe in the Danbury Green area. What an awesome find!! Food was delicious, people were great- fun and so super nice. The place itself is beautiful. I really loved the painted walls and all the small details from the light fixtures to our pretty margaritas glasses. Will absolutely make this a new staple in our rotation of nights out. Los Rivera is hands down the best Mexican food around. Everything they serve is made fresh including the margaritas. After enjoying Thursday evening happy hour drinks and dinner with my wife and our two friends I had to inquire where the chef was from because the food was THAT good...the answer: Mexico!!! The entrance has community feel, ambience. It's the heart of Danbury meaning the locals definitely come here. The paintings on the walls are gorgeous. The meaning behind this particular painting gave a generation time zone.It goes from young to old. It gives a all are welcome vibe grandma to young. The food was authentic Mexican food , no Tex mex here. This is real Mexican food . It was delicious! We had three tacos mix and three tortas mix. I ordered 6 tacos for takeout. 3 chicken and 3 grilled steak. I rated the meal 2 stars. The food was cold even though I got there to pick it up before it was ready and drove to my job 5 min away. I would've preferred that the wrap was hot or at least toasty. The chicken was bland and the steak was salty and both were dry and overcooked , not juicy. I would recommend them to toast the wraps and cook the meat less and to place the guacamole on the side, not in the taco. read more

Very slow service! We went here on a Sunday night when they weren't very busy and it took an hour to get our food. My order was cold and I had to send it back. When it was all said and done the food was good, but it's just not worth the hassle given the extremely slow service. read more

Right away they brought out chips and salsa. Unlike many Mexican restaurants the salsa was sweet with a heat coming through afterwards. It was very intriguing as I've never come across a sweet heat salsa like this before at a Mexican restaurant. My initial discern turned to delight the more I invested time eating it. It's very different but very good! I ended up ordering 10/12 of their tacos to try and my other half got the goat entree. The portions are very generous. The tacos with everything on them equals essentially tomato-less guac, onion and cilantro which was wonderful. The virtual is made with beef short rib as opposed to the traditional goat which is rare to find around here anyway. The birria sauce that accompanied was thicker than usual but very good and was even better with the crema i asked for a side of. I had the tamarind juice for my beverage and the other half had a margarita on the rocks with sugar rim. Both were great! The goat entree was plentiful, luxurious in soft texture and paired well with the black beans and pickled jalapeños that joined the entree. I gave 4 stars for a few factors, they did not have the horchata i originally wanted to have as my beverage. Also factoring in was the chicken taco that just lacked flavor. Chicken is hard to flavor and this was pretty much just pounded think white meat grilled and cut, no seasoning to tickle a further interest. Overall we had a great meal with plenty of leftovers. The fish, salted beef, birria, and shrimp tacos were by far the best here. Will definitely come again! read more

I saw an article about this restaurant on Facebook news. The article said that they were serving authentic Mexican food unlike anything else in Danbury. Figured it was worth a try. My wife and I went in for lunch yesterday. Like the other reviewer said, they immediately bring over fresh chips and a really nice salsa. The salsa is sweet to start and then gets spicy. We ordered margaritas. My wife got the Los Riveras margarita and I got the classic. Both were good and they were a good size. For meals I had tacos and my wife had the Al pastor enchiladas with green sauce. It seemed like high quality ingredients and the food was very tasty. Service was fast and friendly. The restaurant was clean. Nice artwork. Definitely recommend this place. read more

LOVE Los Rivera Cafe! Both indoor and some outdoor seating- they keep the door open in the summer :) Authentic food-- crispy birria tacos, flavorful tacos of other kinds as well! I keep thinking about the tacos... Tamarindo juice. Affordable prices and an authentic experience. I love the hallway leading to the bathroom- the rainbow lights- and it is very clean. I truly am enjoying this place and it's my new favorite restaurant. I like the decor and the vibe :) This is an underrated gem... hope it gets more popular one day! read more

Margaritas from scratch and barbacoa goat. Incredible. Can't wait to come back and try some of the other dishes. The menu feels authentic.
