The kitchen is quicker than you'd expect. Sometimes, we can't even finish the free homemade chips and salsa before two entrees are served. This is the part of the review where I'd try and complain, but my only gripe is that you need to ask for hot sauce. Fortunately, it's free, homemade, and thankfully, it's fairly spicy!

The salsa didn't do anything for me and the beer was somewhat warm, so right off the bat they were behind the 8-ball. I had 3-tacos which had a lot of stuff in them (super messy, which was fine), but not the best. The rice was tasteless and only warm, but the beans were excellent -- 'very' hot and tasty. I have to go back again but knowing how good the other location is and how this is the same restaurant, I'm down to check it out again. Fair and reasonable pricing.

The churros were still a little warm nice and soft on the inside. Just the right amount of cinnamon sugar. Ice cream was really good almost tasted like maybe it could have been homemade? I ordered garlic shrimp. The sauce was white and soupy. Wish the garlic sauce was a different consistency. But whatever the sauce was had plenty of garlic. The shrimp were very big! I used the remaining amount of sauce to give the yellow rice a boost. My husband had the chicken fajitas. He liked the portion size he had enough for leftovers. The chicken was tender. He would have liked the containers of guac and sour cream to be bigger or more of them. I would eat at Los Riveras again.

You can tell the chef really cares about the flavor…read more The tamales here are so flavorful, not dry, come with fresh homemade tortillas, and only $4 (as of Spring 2026). They're wrapped in a sort of banana leaf, rather than corn husk, and well-seasoned and almost gelatinous. The tacos were obviously great, as well as an extremely generous-portioned sope. They had chicharrones and yucca as a special, which was reasonably priced and very good. Also, the beef soup is extremely flavorful, tender, and well-balanced. You can easily get a filling meal here for $10. Many times we came, the place was full, and mostly by Spanish-speaking patrons (always a very good sign). I drive 35 minutes to come here when I'm craving Mexican food, and everyone I've introduced to this place also comes back. I love this restaurant, and am very impressed with the food (and prices!). There's also a cute bodega attached to it, with some cool stuff stocked and available. Go here, and try the tamales! Maybe even order take out, as well, before you get home and regret not doing so

I thought it was cool this food truck has those buzzers like a restaurant so you're able to order food then wait in your car. I ordered a steak quesadilla. When I went to pay I saw on paper they had empanadas. I treated myself and stayed with both. The quesadilla came out hot. It had peppers, onions and some type of leafy green. I really dont like leafy greens so that turned me off a bit. Luckily it was light and could not be heavily tasted. The beef in the quesadilla was good quality and tasted good. The star was the beef empanada though. It was BIG and so delicious. The outside was nicely browned and crispy. The beef inside moist and flavorful. I almost went back today to get more. The next time I go I hope they have beef as well as cheese empanadas. I found the prices of what I ordered was reasonable.
