Hidden treasure! We stopped here randomly when rushing around between kids' activities, and we will DEFINITELY be back. The Mexican food is fresh, delicious, and authentic. Their hot sauces are SO tasty too. While it is definitely a bit of a hole in the wall, it's clean and inviting. The service is excellent too, and everyone was so nice and accommodating. Oh my goodness, this place makes me happy. I was seriously jonesing for something resembling authentic Mexican after months and months in quarantine, and stumbled across this humble little place by pure chance. Pembroke Deli is a complete godsend. The food is a wee bit gringo-ized, but still quite enjoyable -- the best I've found for quite some distance from our home in Sherman, actually, including a few better publicized places in central Danbury. Enchiladas come with red or green sauce, neither of which has much, if any, heat. (No matter. We doctor it up ourselves.) Tacos are made with standard issue off-the-shelf tortillas, but generously stuffed with flavorful proteins of your choice and garnished with fresh lime and crisp radish. Meats are a served in a larger cut than my personal ideal, which can toughen and dry out when cooked, despite some fat- and gristle-heavy bits. But no matter: flavors approach heavenly for a family that deeply appreciates, but doesn't prepare, this cuisine at home regularly. The arroz in arroz con pollo is wonderful, as good as any I've had, $$$$ restaurants inclusive. We've made a few large orders from here in recent months and been delighted each time. This is a little gem, if you like Mexican food. It's authentic, FRESH and delicious! The carnitas tacos are generous and the presentation is BEAUTIFUL! I've been here twice and both times they were top notch. I appreciate the care that goes into the little details like you'll see in the garnish of this humble taco. Clearly, this chef takes pride in his work because you not only taste it, you see it! We also had the avocado salad, tortilla soup, and various burritos. (Sorry no photos) The soup was piping hot with loads of fresh fixings to add on top. Everything we've had here has been fresh and delicious. I LOVE Mexican food. I will say that this is the best Mexican food in the area. I will put this against any local restaurant and it will always come out on top. The service is friendly, the prices are great, and the food is beyond amazing. Everything is tasty and fresh. I have not had a bad meal yet and don't think it is even possible. From the cheesy quesadillas to the tacos, I enjoy every bite. I also highly suggest the shrimp and crab empanada. Stop wasting your money going to a restaurant and try this ASAP! read more

I think it should be called "Veracruz" instead of Pembroke, but not a big deal. :) I usually order the steak tacos or take the chicken soup home and spice it up... but I hear good things about the chile rellenos. Great place! Hidden little gem. This is not your greasy Mexican food joint, food is fresh and flavorful including the guacamole/avocado. Never had anything we did not like. Prices are very good for what you get and the owners and staff are very friendly. The avocado salad is really good and the tostada salad is huge. Can't go wrong with the tacos. My husband and I tried Pembroke deli yesterday because I heard word of mouth they had great Mexican food and my friend knows I love Mexican! The food is amazing! My husband had the Chicken chimichanga and a steak burrito. I had chicken enchilada and rice and beans. It was absolutely delicious. The ingredients are fresh. Guacamole is perfectly seasoned and is extremely fresh. I appreciate a spicy tomatillo hot sauce and theirs was homemade. My husband and I went back today for lunch because it was so good!
