I have been going here as long as I can remember. It is the most delicious Tex-Mex I personally have ever had. It has 5 star service and the waiters are always nice. The chips and salsa are the most delicious I have ever had. And the queso is OUTSTANDING!!!. I love to get there burritos they are so yummy and the tacos are delicious. And if you have a picky eater the chicken strips, fries, and corn dog are great too. All in all this place is the best and I can't wait for my next visit. Gave this place another try- first time was mediocre for both food and service. This time around service was horrible. Came in after 1pm so there was only 4 other groups eating- didn't get recognized we were there for about 10 minutes- served our chips and salsa and was another 15 minutes just to get them to take our order. We felt as if they were doing it purpose. Check out was awkward as well. Absolutely fantastic food! Very authentic Tex-Mex with all of your favorites on it, as well as very authentic true Mexican food. Very fresh, made in-house, including the complimentary chips! Their margaritas are fantastic, and they ain't skimping on the tequila! Tuesdays and Thursdays are discount margaritas. We try, try again and every time we are disappointed. Subpar quality Mexican food. Not authentic. Taco Bell tastes better. The beans are runny. Meat has little if any flavor. Ordered our food and went to pick it up. Said 20 minutes. We arrived on time and waited another 20 minutes. 40 minutes total for absolute garbage. If you want decent Mexican food go to Sweet Peas. All they have is a Taco Salad. But, it tastes better than anything from this place. read more

I have visted Los Ranchitos many times, but today I decided to finally leave a review. The taco salad fajita with steak is fabulous! Tender steak and peppers in a huge fried shell, melted cheese, slathered with sour cream and guacamole. Did a carry out order that only took 10 minutes, and the chips and salsa, which are always served in the restaurant, were put in the bag. Great food and pleasant staff always. read more

Ate several times preCOVID, very good always generous portions, lots of options, great service. We like they have alchol drinks and salsas very good and only a little bite. Alordered several different options over the years, and liked them all. Our favorites are the enchiladas w beans n rice, tacos, toastaguac, and burritos. First time here and it's about on par with other "authentic" Mexican restaurants I've been to. Colorful atmosphere inside. Served complimentary chips and salsa with my visit. Ordered one of the lunch specials that included a ground beef enchilada, burrito, and choice of refried beans or rice. I opted for the beans. The service was quick and the food was about a 7 out of 10. Not many local options, especially for this type of food, but I would visit this place again to check out other menu items. Great food, great staff, great prices. Love the food here and I am a picky eater. Always fast service too. If you order take out, make sure you double check, no TRIPLE check your order! We ordered food to be picked up and they left off several items, had to get back in and get the rest. Went back to the car, checked it again and still did not have everything. Took our order wrong. Got home and opened one container that had the wrong items in it. If you do take out and are the pick up person 1) Get the list from the person who placed the order 2) Ask what the meals are to contain if you are not sure of what something should be. Los Ranchitos recently opened in Geneseo IL. The restaurant is located in the old Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant near the interstate. They have spent considerable effort to refurbish the restaurant. It's nice, but not very roomy. Especially, when you compare it to their Kewanee IL location, which is much more spacious. Never-the-less, the Geneseo location was packed for the first month after they opened their doors. The food is good. They have a pretty extensive menu. I wish they had some habanera sauce. They provide salsa and chips when with your meal. They also have some kind of red sauce in a small bottle on the table, but I don't really care for that brand. I normally order the chicken enchiladas and sometimes rice and beans. The food is more "authentic" than a Taco Bell or other similar restaurants. They offer free refills on soft drinks. read more

They also had a HILARIOUS portion of their menu where they teach you how to pronounce "EN-CHEE-LAH-DAHS." Beers were $4 a pop and the menu in general was a bit expensive. read more

The absolute slowest place I have ever been to. Waited in the drive through line for over 25 minutes even though we could see our food through the window and by the time we got it it was cold. Was also another 10 minutes while waiting for them to swipe our card. Both of the cooks were out back smoking and nobody would answer the window. Would not recommend going here. read more

We are traveling on a 4000 mile road trip. Saw the reviews and was ready to switch from driver to passenger, so yep...a margarita was sounding pretty good. We had the chorizo and eggs and the tacos (one carne asada and one chicken, mexican style) and we asked for spicier salsa. They made us fresh spicy salsa on the spot. Food was authentic, very tasty and reasonable. 2 tacos ala carte and the chorizo and egg plate with rice, beans and tortillas and of course two margaritas was under $21. Im pretty sure that the corn tortillas for my tacos were fresh made. Margaritas were on special Tuesday and Thursday for 2.99. It was Thursday! Yay for the passenger! Montana to South Bend! The food is first rate and comes quickly. However, the service is pretty terrible. I've been back a few times because of the food (it's the only decent Mexican food in Geneseo) but the service is consistently bad. Once your order gets taken by your server, someone brings your food (often not the same server) and generally no one comes back to the table until you flag them down. I've sat for 20 minutes with empty plates on the table, waiting for someone to notice and come clear the table and bring the check. Usually I just have to flag someone down. It's annoying. Also, the dining space is small and crowded. Not a great place for conversation. read more

It is ok The food was better a few years ago. The prices are high. You can get a better meal in Moline for 25% less cost. My favorite meal here is $11.99 and in Moline is $9.99. I'm not the only one that feel this way. They did have lines out the door to get a table. Now you can get a table anytime you want. I hope management reads this. read more

If you're looking for true, authentic mexican food, this might not be the right place to go. The food was decent, and plenty of the locals seem to enjoy it. I'm from the deep south (just about an hour from the gulf) so this wasn't quite the "authentic" mexican food i had grown accustomed too. I also noticed that it was very busy when I went (on a thursday night) and it was cramped-feeling and a little too loud for my liking. However, its a decent place.
