Glad to be back here since this place first opened - say 2003 or 04 before I moved away. New menu and same gentleman serving me at the start until his young gal serving me. Same salsa taste but missed the old time salsa pourer on the table but now served in a bowl requesting for more. One my meal come three of the same. Reasonable price w/o the beans / rice. Enjoy the menu as took it in a different way as you can zoom it up. read more

Food was decent. Not great. We didn't find either dish we ordered to be seasoned well. The margarita was delicious. The service was friendly and prompt. The place is comfortable, homey & there were several tables seated & it was not overly loud (which is a big deal to me!). We might go back, give it one more try... but I'm not sure. read more

Probably the best overall mexican restaurant in the QCA. The best salsa in this area & very good chips, great iced tea too. The best menu items are the "pork meat" - on sale tuesdays for $7 - its 'fresh ham' - pork chunks in dark chipotle sauce, this is really really good. Also the chicken fajitas are the best flavor ive ever had. Other great items are enchiladas poblanas - chicken enchiladas in mole, invierno steak - skirt steak covered in beans, cheese & salsa verde. Basically any of their dinner items are all great. For an appetizer the chicken quesadillas are great & are a good value. Most people at mexican restaurants get regular beef tacos, enchiladas, burritos, etc. The dinner items here are much better as the ground beef isnt tremendously seasoned or spicy or anything, its fine for americans. This restaurant is the type of mex restaurant that has ground beef & shredded chicken as the main choices for the tacos, etc, not carnitas, al pastor, adobada, etc. At a real mexican restaurant its always best to get a dinner selection, not the typical tacos & stuff. This location has the same basic menu & prices as the northpark & southpark locations although the owner is now different than those spots. read more

I wanted to add something to my initial review. We stopped in again and were not given chips and salsa at first. We asked for them and were told that we needed to place our order first. We had been waiting for a friend to arrive so we were hoping we could get some. When they did bring them, it was such a small amount. We were very disappointed in this. read more

DISCLAIMER: It could be that I'm spoiled because I have been to too many good, authentic, Mexican restaurants. So that may adversely influence my opinion of Habanero's. I can't remember the name of the beef burrito I ordered. It was Sr. something. I told my friend who took me there, "I'm not one who complains much about food, unless there is something really wrong, but this may be the worst burrito I've ever had in my life." If you looked up the word "bland" in the dictionary, the definition would include a photo of that burrito. It was almost completely void of any flavor. However, being completely void of flavor would have been an improvement over the flavor that it did have. It tasted like something was just bad. I suspect the bad flavor was coming from the very low quality of beef that was used. Examining the burrito, looking for any reason as to why its eruption of flavor would be rivaled by a piece of styrofoam, it appeared that there were no beans. When we mentioned to the waitress that we did not think there were any beans on the burrito, she graciously brought us a side of beans. But even the beans were not up to an acceptable standard of flavor. And how hard is it to make good beans? The salsa was pretty good (although not nearly as good as the salsa at Carlos O'Kelly's we had a couple of nights later), with which I was able to drench the unsavory specimen and salvage some minimal level of enjoyment. Based on some of the other reviews, I suspect there are other items on the menu that are good. But unfortunately for me, this was my first experience at this restaurant and will almost certainly be my last. read more

After being there over more than 50, maybe even 100 times, this place was my favorite Mexican in the area. However, something has changed with the food, and I am guessing it is the chef. Seasoning is not near as good anymore. Hopefully they get back whomever they lost in the kitchen. Update 2/10/2016: The food is back to where it was - maybe someone went on a long vacation? Not sure. We have been regulars here for years. This Habaneros has very efficient and friendly service, has consistently good food, and the prices are great for families. We love Mexican food and this restaurant takes pride in their dishes. Their hot sauce is awesome, as is the molé sauce (best I've ever had anywhere--even Mexico). Our favorite dishes are Molé Poblano and Carné Asáda Tacos. We eat out A LOT and are here 3 or 4 times a month minimum--it's definitely one of our go-to spots. Only thing I would suggest has nothing to do with the great food and service, but I'd like to see some improvements on the interior, booths, carpet, and restroom. read more

We drove by Habanero's and all of the cars in the parking lot suggested it might be good. Yelp reviews sounded good, so we ate here, as we were starving. We both had fajitas and they were outstanding! I've never seen pork, onion, and pineapple fajitas, so tried them and oh so delicious. My wife ordered vegetarian fajitas and raved about them too. They weren't grilled in a lot of oil, so were really healthy. Service was very attentive and quick, so how do you beat this for under $20? read more

Had to ask for chips. Maybe that's is normal here in the quad cities or maybe its Habaneros policy to make you ask for them. When they did show up there were exactly 14 chips. The burritos I ordered had cheddar cheese melted on top. Not what I was expecting. The food was OK just boring and not appetizing. read more

HORRID is the best word I can think of for this disgusting restaurant. We had tamales that had a smidgen of dried chicken (instead of pork) in them, then they were covered with tomato sauce fresh out of the can. 2 tamales meals with rice and beans and 2 sodas----$26. Save lots of money and go to the local grocery and buy the cheapest frozen Mexican meal, it will be far better!!!!! read more
